Book Satellite Communication Systems Design

Download or read book Satellite Communication Systems Design written by S. Tirró and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2012-12-06 with total page 851 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Writing a comprehensive book on satellite communications requires the com mand of many technical disciplines and the availability of up-to-date information on international recommendations, system architectures, and equipment stand ards. It is therefore necessary to involve many authors, each possessing a good level of knowledge in a particular discipline. The problem of using a coherent and unambiguous set of definitions and basic terms has been solved by including in the book all the background information needed for understanding satellite communication systems, without any major reference to other textbooks specializing in particular disciplines. The obvious consequence of this approach has been the large size of the book, with the advantages, however, of practically complete independence from other books, more systematic discussion of the subject matter, and better readability. After the required background information, emphasis has been placed on the discussion of techniques and system design criteria rather than on specific equipment implementation or description of particular systems. The book may be divided in five parts as follows: • The first five chapters provide most of the required background information. • Chapter 6 is an introductory outline of satellite communication systems. • Chapters 7 to 13 deal with the various aspects of technical system design. • Chapter 14 discusses system economics. • Chapter 15 provides a brief insight into some foreseeable future develop ments of satellite communications.

Book Deep Space Telecommunications Systems Engineering

Download or read book Deep Space Telecommunications Systems Engineering written by Joseph H. Yuen and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2013-04-17 with total page 615 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The challenge of communication in planetary exploration has been unusual. The guidance and control of spacecraft depend on reliable communication. Scientific data returned to earth are irreplaceable, or replaceable only at the cost of another mission. In deep space, communications propagation is good, relative to terrestrial communications, and there is an opportunity to press toward the mathematical limit of microwave communication. Yet the limits must be approached warily, with reliability as well as channel capacity in mind. Further, the effects of small changes in the earth's atmosphere and the interplanetary plasma have small but important effects on propagation time and hence on the measurement of distance. Advances are almost incredible. Communication capability measured in 18 bits per second at a given range rose by a factor of 10 in the 19 years from Explorer I of 1958 to Voyager of 1977. This improvement was attained through ingenious design based on the sort of penetrating analysis set forth in this book by engineers who took part in a highly detailed and amazingly successful pro gram. Careful observation and analysis have told us much about limitations on the accurate measurement of distance. It is not easy to get busy people to tell others clearly and in detail how they have solved important problems. Joseph H. Yuen and the other contribu tors to this book are to be commended for the time and care they have devoted to explicating one vital aspect of a great adventure of mankind.

Book excerpt: Updates from unremarked dates material used in the Institute's vacation schools at Surrey University, which over the past 15 years have become the de-facto industry standard in satellite communications. The approach concentrates on the design and planning of systems, includes little theory, and just quotes equations rather than deriving them. New material has been added on the history and background of the field; the business aspects of satellite communications; and on new applications in mobile and personal communication systems, multimedia systems, military business and small satellites, navigation, and positioning. Graduate, undergraduate, and practicing engineers should benefit from the treatment. Annotation copyrighted by Book News, Inc., Portland, OR

Download or read book Design Manufacturing Building and Testing Subsystems of Cube Satellite written by Ahmed Ibrahim and published by GRIN Verlag. This book was released on 2021-09-23 with total page 426 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Bachelor Thesis from the year 2014 in the subject Engineering - Aerospace Technology, grade: 4.0, Cairo University, language: English, abstract: This document describes a B.Sc. graduation project (2014). The main objective of this third iteration of the Cairo University Cube Satellite is the design, manufacturing, building and testing selected subsystems of Cube Satellite. The mission of the Cube satellite is Earth imaging and the whole process uses COTS. This document is organized the introduction and six chapters each describes one of the selected subsystems. The mission analysis and orbital determination chapter selects the best orbit matched to the mission requirements. The electrical power subsystem generates energy via the sun, distributes and manages the power among the other subsystems. The attitude determination and control is responsible for the orientation of the Cube Satellite in orbit, and controls the orientation of the Cube Satellite. The communications subsystem is responsible for the data transmission from/to the Cube satellite and the ground station. The command and data-handling center (On Board Computer) handles all the data and commands on the Cube satellite and controls the Cube satellite modes and states. Finally, the structure subsystem chapter includes design the cube satellite structure, stress and weight analysis, inertia and natural frequencies determination. All collected and auxiliary data, code snippets, specification sheets... etc. are presented in eight appendices at the end of the document. A secondary objective is enrich the documentation of the current level of the knowhow achieved by the participants of the project.
