Download or read book Art based Methods written by Ioanna Tzanakaki and published by . This book was released on 2021-04-13 with total page 26 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Throughout my years as a music teacher in primary schools in Greece and as a Greek language teacher in Finland, I had to find ways to approach my pupils. Many of my students did not speak Greek or English, and I did not speak any Finnish or their native language. During my practical placement, in social services, at a non-profit organization, I had to think of fresh ideas to communicate with my clients as well as with other interns working in the organization. For all these situations that verbal communication was difficult, there was always the path of non-verbal communication, available-this was the beginning of implementing the voice activities of this guidebook. The main benefit is that this guidebook and its voice activities can be used by people with limited or no prior studies in music or singing. The guidebook comes with detailed instructions for the implementation of every voice activity. It gives possible variations while the facilitator is encouraged to adjust and alter the activities according to the context or the general "mood" or needs of the group. This guidebook was written mainly for social services work. However, it can be useful in other fields as well, like in music therapy, education, counselling, corporate environments and different contexts.I hope you find the activities useful for your work.

Download or read book Structured Art Activities to Support Communication for Children with Autism Spectrum Disorder written by Stephanie Anne Randall and published by . This book was released on 2009 with total page 55 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Three boys participated in a single subject design study. Challenging behaviors were identified for each subject and frequency observed before, during and after the intervention. Goals for all subjects to increase initiations and responses to questions and comments were also targeted. Variable results across the subjects indicated that the structured activities did decrease challenging behaviors most days but that the communication targets were impacted by the opportunities provided in the setting. Implications for future research are discussed.

This book was released on 2019-06 with total page 142 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Over the past two decades, there has been a major increase in research into the effects of the arts on health and well-being, alongside developments in practice and policy activities in different countries across the WHO European Region and further afield. This report synthesizes the global evidence on the role of the arts in improving health and well-being, with a specific focus on the WHO European Region. Results from over 3000 studies identified a major role for the arts in the prevention of ill health, promotion of health, and management and treatment of illness across the lifespan. The reviewed evidence included study designs such as uncontrolled pilot studies, case studies, small-scale cross-sectional surveys, nationally representative longitudinal cohort studies, community-wide ethnographies and randomized controlled trials from diverse disciplines. The beneficial impact of the arts could be furthered through acknowledging and acting on the growing evidence base; promoting arts engagement at the individual, local and national levels; and supporting cross-sectoral collaboration.

Book The Art of Communicating

Download or read book The Art of Communicating written by Thich Nhat Hanh and published by Harper Collins. This book was released on 2013-08-13 with total page 80 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Zen master Thich Nhat Hanh, bestselling author of Peace is Every Step and one of the most respected and celebrated religious leaders in the world, delivers a powerful path to happiness through mastering life's most important skill. How do we say what we mean in a way that the other person can really hear? How can we listen with compassion and understanding? Communication fuels the ties that bind, whether in relationships, business, or everyday interactions. Most of us, however, have never been taught the fundamental skills of communication—or how to best represent our true selves. Effective communication is as important to our well-being and happiness as the food we put into our bodies. It can be either healthy (and nourishing) or toxic (and destructive). In this precise and practical guide, Zen master and Buddhist monk Thich Nhat Hanh reveals how to listen mindfully and express your fullest and most authentic self. With examples from his work with couples, families, and international conflicts, The Art of Communicating helps us move beyond the perils and frustrations of misrepresentation and misunderstanding to learn the listening and speaking skills that will forever change how we experience and impact the world.
