Book Innovation in Public Planning

Download or read book Innovation in Public Planning written by Aksel Hagen and published by Springer Nature. This book was released on 2020-07-10 with total page 227 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book contributes to the discourse on planning theory by accentuating the perspective of public innovation. Extending planning theory's traditional two major perspectives - 'Communicate' and 'Calculate' - the book argues that contemporary planning theory should incorporate 'Innovate' as a third perspective. It highlights the multitude of new perspectives that innovative planning can bring to bear on planning theory, as well as showing how the interplay between the three perspectives - 'Communicate', 'Calculate' and 'Innovate' - can help to address vital issues in contemporary societal development.

Book Energy Efficiency in Communications and Networks

Download or read book Energy Efficiency in Communications and Networks written by Sameh Gobriel and published by BoD – Books on Demand. This book was released on 2012-04-04 with total page 154 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The topic of "Energy Efficiency in Communications and Networks" attracts growing attention due to economical and environmental reasons. The amount of power consumed by information and communication technologies (ICT) is rapidly increasing, as well as the energy bill of service providers. According to a number of studies, ICT alone is responsible for a percentage which varies from 2% to 10% of the world power consumption. Thus, driving rising cost and sustainability concerns about the energy footprint of the IT infrastructure. Energy-efficiency is an aspect that until recently was only considered for battery driven devices. Today we see energy-efficiency becoming a pervasive issue that will need to be considered in all technology areas from device technology to systems management. This book is seeking to provide a compilation of novel research contributions on hardware design, architectures, protocols and algorithms that will improve the energy efficiency of communication devices and networks and lead to a more energy proportional technology infrastructure.

Book Investigating Adolescent Health Communication

Download or read book Investigating Adolescent Health Communication written by Kevin Harvey and published by Bloomsbury Publishing. This book was released on 2014-02-24 with total page 240 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A comprehensive corpus analysis of adolescent health communication is long overdue – and this book provides it. We know comparatively little about the language adolescents use to articulate their health concerns, and discourse analysis of their choices can shed light on their attitudes towards and beliefs about health and illness. This book interrogates a two million word corpus of messages posted by adolescents to an online health forum. It adopts a mixed method corpus approach to health communication, combining both quantitative and qualitative techniques. Analysis in this way gives voice to an age group whose subjective experiences of illness have often been marginalized or simply overlooked in favour of the concerns of older populations.
