Book excerpt: Are you on or off of the dieting yo-yo? Or is there? This book helps readers along the journey towards making simple, enduring lifestyle changes that will help create a slimming impact on their weight and general fitness. It is not a fad diet that is here today and gone tomorrow. It is sustainable. It helps incorporate changes into your lifestyle that are easy to make and easy to keep. There are no promise or guarantees for success. Just changes to improve your lifestyle and to become a healthier person. As with any lifestyle change, please consult your doctor before making the change. We want to make sure that you stay healthy throughout this journey. Kathleen had been chubby or fat all of her life. Moving from very skinny to very fat, tipping the scales at over two hundred pounds. Even during the dating years she had been exposed to cruel teasing, tricks and jokes. She tried one diet after another but nothing seemed to have the long lasting, enduring impact that she was seeking. She would try the grapefruit diet, the low fat diet, the protein diet and many others. Nothing seemed to have lasting effect. Kathleen now has found that she can make simple adjustments to her life style and can begin slimming. As an example, she exchanged the evening ice cream bowl with sherbet. Within 3 months Kathleen has lost ten pounds and has kept it off. You too can make simple, lifestyle adjusts and begin slimming. Read more about this in this book.

Book excerpt: Millions of people seek to achieve a level of happiness through losing weight. To reach this very personal goal, most people seek convenient commercial options of mass-produced foods that are high in sugars, salt, and preservatives, without the understanding how those items can complicate the process to lose weight and even possibly increase the risk to chronic diseases. Marty Khan has endured three decades of business travel in four continents as a member of the US Air Force. Finding quality foods to keep fit was always his top priority even when staying in first class hotels. Having a basic knowledge of what is nutritious for one's body, and consuming such items in moderation, is key to losing weight. But this must be complemented with a consistent program of movement activities to burn calories. This book offers a common-sense approach to increase one's awareness that the body is a complex machine that requires quality food in moderation and to help one succeed in their personal struggle to lose weight. Marty is a retired colonel in the US Air Force Reserve and the author of Uncommon Duties in the US Air Force and Access to Higher Education: Leadership Challenges in Florida and South Africa. Years ago, Marty clinched the first prize in a local chili cook-off in Florida. 16

Book excerpt: The process of dieting is usually to do it and get it done. However, life and the way we live it, are never done. We try to diet - maybe even dozens of times - and then finally give up, sadly on ourselves. Breaking Free From Diet Prison: A Common Sense Approach to Keto and Low Carb, explains how certain foods influence your mind and body, causing you to want more, crave more and stay hungry. Learning to limit these foods will establish and strengthen your ability to identify true hunger signals so that you can let go of the tedious practice of weighing, measuring and tracking your food intake. Intuitive eating will finally make sense to you as you learn to trust what your body and mind are telling you about food. This book uses a three-pillar approach: Education, Practical Applications and Mindfulness Practices. The Education pillar will provide the science behind successful weight loss. Exercises in the Practical Application pillar include everything from goal setting to grocery shopping. The Mindfulness Practices encompass many techniques, such as learning to sit with (instead of act upon) urges and to get free of your negative self-talk.
