Are we on the brink of a 2nd civil war? If we are not careful, if we make just one-too-many missteps, our country certainly could. The divide actually comes from the following opposing sides - those who think the Constitution of the United States is an old and outdated document, and the 1st and 2nd amendments represent hate and death, and then those called Patriots who believe the Declaration of Independence and the Constitution are the only way to maintain the freedom, prosperity, life, liberty, and happiness we have lived thus far. The 1st civil war was fought over eerily similar situations. It was a war that was a result of several conflicts that should now sound familiar to you as the similarity to our country's current conflicts is uncanny, to say the least; back then the heated election of Republican President Abraham Lincoln was an impossibility( how could it be?) and there were issues with state rights, and the value of human lives (slavery). Now we face the same extremely heated election of Republican President Donald Trump (how could it be?), constitution and state rights of gun ownership is at stake and once again the value of human life (babies in the womb). This is just a little too similar for my comfort if you ask me. We continually try to redefine real life for our convenience and profit. This is due to increasing self-serving choices made over the respect for human life in the past and the present, and if not changed it will continue in the future. When the dust settled from the 1st war, bodies littered American soil and cities had been burned to the ground. It was argued life which seemed different from us, was less than we were deemed personal property, as slaves. This is also a similar mistake made by the Nazis concerning the Jews in World War 2. America, like most nations in the world, has not yet learned we commit these same fatal crimes again and again against human life. The abortion fight will not go away until truth once again rules, as it did with slavery after the 1st civil war. Now, with both sides of the abortion issue drawing deep lines in the sand in honor of their beliefs, we enter a time in America where abortion is allowed in all states and post-birth and late-term abortions are acceptable in 7 states. While 9 opposing states have now limited abortion and some even to 6 weeks! Could the possibility that both sides have valid positions and there is an in-between place where both can meet? Is there a solution to pro-choice and also one of Pro-Life? Will the boiling point be reached very soon where the federal government will need to step in and do what its originators swore to do when they penned the Declaration of Independence "...all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty, and the Pursuit of HappinessWhile faith plays a role in human morality in life and this book, it does not supersede the wisdom, proven science, nor facts this book's research discloses. The World has entered the beginning of a new age in humanity. We are moving from a Type 0 level civilization which has not to reach its full potential, to a Type I civilization which has reached its full potential. So, with the advent of the internet (Phone system, type 1), we are at the cusp of a new era in human. To survive, we must learn to not kill human life. Is this our inevitable downfall? Can we mature as humanity? Can we refrain from killing our human species, let alone most of the life on this planet? Can we leave hate in our past and move forward with peace? We the people are responsible for our future and this book is the end of the debate on abortion.

The authors of Beating Hearts aim to reconcile this apparent conflict and examine the surprisingly similar strategic and tactical questions faced by activists in the pro-life and animal rights movements. Beating Hearts maintains that sentience, or the ability to have subjective experiences, grounds a being's entitlement to moral concern.
