Book Electron Energy Dependence of the Momentum transfer Cross Section in Xenon by Microwave Interaction Techniques

Download or read book Electron Energy Dependence of the Momentum transfer Cross Section in Xenon by Microwave Interaction Techniques written by Denis M. Coffey and published by . This book was released on 1970 with total page 122 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Microwave conductivity ratios and cyclotron resonance absorption linewidths are measured in xenon afterglow plasmas using microwave propagation and pulsed swept-frequency techniques. The momentum-transfer cross section Q(em) for electrons of energy up to 1 eV is best represented by an electron velocity (m/sec) dependence of Qem (v). The results are in general agreement with the available literature except near the Ramsauer minimum. The dissociative electron-ion recombination in xenon 300K plasmas was determined. (Author).

Book Atomic Molecular Ionization by Electron Scattering

Download or read book Atomic Molecular Ionization by Electron Scattering written by K. N. Joshipura and published by Cambridge University Press. This book was released on 2019-01-24 with total page 288 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A comprehensive and up-to-date text in the field of electron scattering and ionization, covering fundamentals, experimental background, quantum scattering theories and applications. Electron impact ionization of atoms and molecules in ground/metastable states is discussed comprehensively. The text covers electron scattering phenomena for diatomic and common molecules, polyatomic molecules and radicals including hydro-carbons, fluoro-carbons and other larger molecules together with relevant radical species in detail. Applications of electron impact ionization and excitation in gaseous or plasma and condensed matter is discussed in a separate chapter. Recent advances in the field of electron molecule scattering and ionization for polyatomic molecules is covered extensively.

  • Pages : 305 pages

Download or read book Auger Electron Spectroscopy written by Donald T. Hawkins and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2012-12-06 with total page 305 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Auger electron spectroscopy is rapidly developing into the single most powerful analytical technique in basic and applied science.for investigating the chemical and structural properties of solids. Its ex plosive growth beginning in 1967 was triggered by the development of Auger analyzers capable of de tecting one atom layer of material in a fraction of a second. Continued growth was guaranteed firstly by the commercial availability of apparatus which combined the capabilities of scanning electron mi croscopy and ion-mill depth profiling with Auger analysis, and secondly by the increasing need to know the atomistics of many processes in fundamental research and engineering applications. The expanding use of Auger analysis was accompanied by an increase in the number of publications dealing with it. Because of the developing nature of Auger spectroscopy, the articles have appeared in many different sources covering diverse disciplines, so that it is extremely difficult to discover just what has or has not been subjected to Auger analysis. In this situation, a comprehensive bibliography is obviou-sly useful to those both inside and outside the field. For those in the field, this bibliography should be a wonderful time saver for locating certain references, in researching a particular topic, or when considering various aspects of instrumentation or data analysis. This bibliography not only provides the most complete listing of references pertinent to surface Auger analysis available today, but it is also a basis for extrapolating from past trends to future expectations.

Book Total Ionization Cross Sections of Molecules by Electron Impact

Download or read book Total Ionization Cross Sections of Molecules by Electron Impact written by Yong-Ki Kim and published by . This book was released on 2004 with total page 11 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The theoretical basis for the binary-encounter-Bethe (BEB) model is outlined, and the model is compared to available experiments and other theories for samples of stable molecules, radicals, and positive ions. Possible directions for improving the BEB model also are presented. The BEB model does not contain empirical parameters, offers a simple equation and recipe for the ionization cross-section of individual molecular orbitals, and provides reliable cross-sections at low as well as high incident electron energies. The BEB model has been verified to produce reliable cross-sections for dozens of stable, neutral, large, and small molecules (e.g., H2, SF6), radicals, and singly-charged positive ions. Section 2 discusses the theoretical basis for the BEB model. Section 3 compares BEB cross-sections with available experimental data for N2, CF4, SF6, CH3, N2+ and SF5. It is clear that the BEB model can produce reliable ionization cross-sections for small as well as large, stable molecules. It also can produce reliable cross-sections for hydrocarbon radicals and singly-charged positive ions. However, the BEB cross sections do not agree well with the experimental data on radicals containing fluorine, CFx, SFx, and NFx, although the BEB cross-sections for the stable molecules CF4 and SF6 agree well with experiments. Section 4 examines unsolved issues and future prospects.
