This book was released on 2016-10-17 with total page 486 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Excerpt from Commentaries on the Book of the Prophet Daniel, Vol. 1 Professor hencsteneerc6 of Berlin has ably refuted the Neologian objections of his predecessors: the American reader will find the subject ably treated in the Biblical Re pertory of Philadelphia 7 and the English student may oh tain an abstract of the points in dispute from the elaborate Introduction of Hartwell horne.8 The various theories of these Neologists imply that the Book was written during the Maccabaean period, by one or more authors who invented the earlier portions by mingling fable with history in inex tricable confusion, and by throwing around the history of their own age the garb of prephetic romance The reception of any such hypothesis would so completely nullify the whole of calvin's Exposition, that we feel absolved from the neces sity of entering into details. No disciple of this school will even condescend to peruse these lectures. It is enough for us to know, that these unworthy successors of the early German Reformers have been met with ability and research by luderwald, staudlin, jahn, lack, and steudel. The unbelief of a semler, a michaelis, and a corrodi, will seem to the follower of calvin the offspring of an unsanctified reason which has never been trained in reverential homage to the inspired Word. The keenness of this perverse criti cism has attempted to explain away two important facts; first, that ezekiel mentions daniel as alive in his day, and as a model of piety and wisdom, (ch. Xiv. 20, and ch. About the Publisher Forgotten Books publishes hundreds of thousands of rare and classic books. Download or read book The Message of Daniel written by Dale Ralph Davis and published by Inter-Varsity Press. This book was released on 2024-01-18 with total page 190 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Old Testament book of Daniel contains well-known stories: Daniel in the den of lions, his three companions in a fiery furnace, and the strange handwriting on the wall at Belshazzar's feast, which struck terror in the heart of the Babylonian king. However, this book can be difficult to understand. Along with stories about Judean exiles working in the court of pagan kings, it also consists of Daniel's enigmatic visions and prophecies about the future. It is written in two languages, Hebrew and Aramaic, and the language division does not match the subject division. Therefore, Dale Ralph Davis explores the book's background, discusses significant interpretative issues and problems, and offers a lively exposition of Daniel's message, which may be summed up in the words of Jesus: 'the end is not yet... but the one who endures to the end will be saved' (Mark 13:7, 13). The Bible Speaks Today series covers every book of the Old and New Testaments, as well as Bible themes that run through the whole of Scripture. These revised editions are redesigned inside and out and have been sensitively updated with contemporary language and Bible translations to help you follow, study and teach the Bible in today's world.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In this volume from the Evangelical Exegetical Commentary, Paul Tanner argues that the book of Daniel is the Old Testament blueprint of the Bible's overarching eschatological narrative. Tanner examines key aspects of the book of Daniel such as the revelation of Israel's future in relation to gentile kingdoms, God's exaltation of Daniel as a channel through whom he reveals his will and God's sovereign control of the nations under whom Israel is being disciplined. Tanner provides exegetical insight to help readers better understand not only how God worked in Israel's history through Daniel, but how he sovereignly directs all of world history--for all time.

Block also shows that Ezekiel's ancient wisdom and vision are still very much needed as we enter the twenty-first century.
