Download or read book Food Systems Governance written by Amanda Kennedy and published by Routledge. This book was released on 2016-04-28 with total page 220 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Sustainability and food production represent a major challenge to society, with both consumption and supply sides posing practical and ethical dilemmas. This book shows that food governance issues can occur in many ways and at many points along the food chain. The risks and impacts, particularly with the increasing globalisation of food systems, are often distributed in unequal ways. It is the role of law to form the pivot around which these issues are addressed in society in the form of food governance mechanisms. The chapters in this book address a range of issues in food governance revolving around questions of justice, fairness, equality and human rights. They identify different issues regarding inequality in access and control over food governance. Some address generic governance and institutional issues across a range of international contexts, while others present case studies, including from Argentina, China, India, Indonesia, Thailand, UK and West Africa. The book offers directions for reform of the law and legal institutions to mitigate the dangers of inequality and promote greater fairness in food governance.

Book Conflict Resolution Using the Graph Model Strategic Interactions in Competition and Cooperation

Download or read book Conflict Resolution Using the Graph Model Strategic Interactions in Competition and Cooperation written by Haiyan Xu and published by Springer. This book was released on 2018-05-11 with total page 463 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This cutting-edge book presents the theory and practice of the Graph Model for Conflict Resolution (GMCR), which is used for strategically investigating disputes in any field to enable informed decision making. It clearly explains how GMCR can determine what is the best a particular decision maker (DM) can independently achieve in dynamic interaction with others. Moves and counter-moves follow various stability definitions reflecting human behavior under conflict. The book defines a wide range of preference structures to represent a DM’s comparisons of states or scenarios: equally preferred, more or less preferred; unknown; degrees of strength of preference; and hybrid. It vividly describes how GMCR can ascertain whether a DM can fare even better by cooperating with others in a coalition. The book portrays how a conflict can evolve from the status quo to a desirable resolution, and provides a universal design for a decision support system to implement the innovative decision technologies using the matrix formulation of GMCR. Further, it illustrates the key ideas using real-world conflicts and supplies problems at the end of each chapter. As such, this highly instructive book benefits teachers, mentors, students and practitioners in any area where conflict arises.

Book Training for Full Spectrum Operations

Download or read book Training for Full Spectrum Operations written by Barry Leonard and published by DIANE Publishing. This book was released on 2009-05 with total page 96 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Will help develop an Army experienced enough to be comfortable with operating anywhere, in any type of operation, under any conditions. Its principles and concepts are intended to produce agile leaders, who can rapidly and easily adapt to changing, ambiguous situations. The manual's 4 chapters address the breadth and depth of Army training concepts. FM 7-0 sets out to change the Army mindset. The Army cannot return to its pre-9-11 focus of training for offensive and defensive operations in major combat operations. Army leaders must think differently about training and leader development in an Army that must be capable of conducting simultaneous offense, defense, and stability or civil support operations in any of the 5 operational themes.
