Book Control of Synchronous Motors

Download or read book Control of Synchronous Motors written by Jean-Paul Louis and published by John Wiley & Sons. This book was released on 2013-02-07 with total page 340 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Synchronous motors are indubitably the most effective device to drive industrial production systems and robots with precision and rapidity. Their control law is thus critical for combining at the same time high productivity to reduced energy consummation. As far as possible, the control algorithms must exploit the properties of these actuators. Therefore, this work draws on well adapted models resulting from the Park’s transformation, for both the most traditional machines with sinusoidal field distribution and for machines with non-sinusoidal field distribution which are more and more used in industry. Both, conventional control strategies like vector control (either in the synchronous reference frame or in the rotor frame) and advanced control theories like direct control and predictive control are thoroughly presented. In this context, a significant place is reserved to sensorless control which is an important and critical issue in tomorrow’s motors.

Book Renewable Energy for Smart and Sustainable Cities

Download or read book Renewable Energy for Smart and Sustainable Cities written by Mustapha Hatti and published by Springer. This book was released on 2018-11-23 with total page 571 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book features cutting-edge research presented at the second international conference on Artificial Intelligence in Renewable Energetic Systems, IC-AIRES2018, held on 24–26 November 2018, at the High School of Commerce, ESC-Koléa in Tipaza, Algeria. Today, the fundamental challenge of integrating renewable energies into the design of smart cities is more relevant than ever. While based on the advent of big data and the use of information and communication technologies, smart cities must now respond to cross-cutting issues involving urban development, energy and environmental constraints; further, these cities must also explore how they can integrate more sustainable energies. Sustainable energies are a major determinant of smart cities’ longevity. From an environmental and technological standpoint, these energies offer an optimal power supply to the electric network while creating significantly less pollution. This requires flexibility, i.e., the availability of supply and demand. The end goal of any smart city is to improve the quality of life for all citizens (both in the city and in the countryside) in a way that is sustainable and respectful of the environment. This book encourages the reader to engage in the preservation of our environment, every moment, every day, so as to help build a clean and healthy future, and to think of the future generations who will one day inherit our planet. Further, it equips those whose work involves energy systems and those engaged in modelling artificial intelligence to combine their expertise for the benefit of the scientific community and humanity as a whole.

Book Vector Control of Induction Machines

Download or read book Vector Control of Induction Machines written by Benoît Robyns and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2012-02-06 with total page 241 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: After a brief introduction to the main law of physics and fundamental concepts inherent in electromechanical conversion, Vector Control of Induction Machines introduces the standard mathematical models for induction machines – whichever rotor technology is used – as well as several squirrel-cage induction machine vector-control strategies. The use of causal ordering graphs allows systematization of the design stage, as well as standardization of the structure of control devices. Vector Control of Induction Machines suggests a unique approach aimed at reducing parameter sensitivity for vector controls based on a theoretical analysis of this sensitivity. This analysis naturally leads to the introduction of control strategies that are based on the combination of different controls with different robustness properties, through the use of fuzzy logic supervisors. Numerous applications and experiments confirm the validity of this simple solution, which is both reproducible and applicable to other complex systems. Vector Control of Induction Machines is written for researchers and postgraduate students in electrical engineering and motor drive design.

This totally new control method can be used not only for AC motor control but also to control input filter current and voltage of an inverter feeding an AC motor. Accessible and clear, describes a new fast type of motor control applied to induction machine (IM), surface mounted permanent magnet synchronous motor (SM-PMSM) and interior permanent magnet synchronous motor (I-PMSM) with various examples Summarizes a method that supersedes the two known direct control solutions – Direct Self Control and Direct Torque Control – to be used for AC motor control and to control input filter current and voltage of an inverter feeding an AC motor Presents comprehensive simulations that are easy for the reader to reproduce on a computer. A control program is hosted on a companion website This book is straight-forward with clear mathematical description. It presents simulations in a way that is easy to understand and to reproduce on a computer, whilst omitting details of practical hardware implementation of control, in order for the main theory to take focus. The book remains concise by leaving out description of sensorless controls for all motor types. The sections on “Control Process”, “Real Time Implementation” and “Kalman Filter Observer and Prediction” in the introductory chapters explain how to practically implement, in real time, the discretized control with all three types of AC motors. Book Sliding Mode Control in Electro Mechanical Systems

Download or read book Sliding Mode Control in Electro Mechanical Systems written by Vadim Utkin and published by CRC Press. This book was released on 2017-12-19 with total page 503 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Apply Sliding Mode Theory to Solve Control Problems Interest in SMC has grown rapidly since the first edition of this book was published. This second edition includes new results that have been achieved in SMC throughout the past decade relating to both control design methodology and applications. In that time, Sliding Mode Control (SMC) has continued to gain increasing importance as a universal design tool for the robust control of linear and nonlinear electro-mechanical systems. Its strengths result from its simple, flexible, and highly cost-effective approach to design and implementation. Most importantly, SMC promotes inherent order reduction and allows for the direct incorporation of robustness against system uncertainties and disturbances. These qualities lead to dramatic improvements in stability and help enable the design of high-performance control systems at low cost. Written by three of the most respected experts in the field, including one of its originators, this updated edition of Sliding Mode Control in Electro-Mechanical Systems reflects developments in the field over the past decade. It builds on the solid fundamentals presented in the first edition to promote a deeper understanding of the conventional SMC methodology, and it examines new design principles in order to broaden the application potential of SMC. SMC is particularly useful for the design of electromechanical systems because of its discontinuous structure. In fact, where the hardware of many electromechanical systems (such as electric motors) prescribes discontinuous inputs, SMC becomes the natural choice for direct implementation. This book provides a unique combination of theory, implementation issues, and examples of real-life applications reflective of the authors’ own industry-leading work in the development of robotics, automobiles, and other technological breakthroughs.
