Download or read book Youth Policy written by Gordon Blakely and published by Routledge. This book was released on 2005-07-19 with total page 144 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: European co-operation has a special role in relation to youth. Both the Council of Europe and the European Community have developed specific initiatives to promote the interests of youth, and to place them in a European-wide context. These initiatives cover economic, social, educational and cultural matters. New opportunities have been created for youth exchanges and an increasingly important application of the EC Social Fund is concerned with youth issues. This volume has a wider focus than the others in this series in that it covers the initiatives of both the European Community and some of the work done by the Council of Europe. It explains how their youth policies have developed, the differences between them, it guides the reader as to its current programmes, and it also discusses proposals affecting the immediate future. This volume will be of special interest to the diverse audience concerned with youth policy: public administrators, educationalists, social and cultural bodies, youth representatives and young individuals.

Download or read book Education and Training in the European Union written by Andreas Moschonas and published by Routledge. This book was released on 2019-01-15 with total page 133 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Published in 1998, Education and training in the European Union is a policy area aiming to enable young people to experience the ‘reality of Europe’ through various forms of cooperation, including training periods in firms in other member states, university courses in the Community countries and exchanges. This book examines why the Community decided to take actions in the field of education and training, what the extent of this involvement is, and how the future may affect EU decisions on education and training. It argues that the logic of the EU involvement in education and training derives from both economic and political considerations; that the extent of this involvement has not so far been very significant but is growing; and that the pace of political integration will ultimately condition the Community’s competence in the field of education and training.

This book was released on 2012-12-06 with total page 407 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Fourth ECMI Conference on Industrial Mathematics took place at Strobl in Aus tria, May 29-June 2, 1989. The conference was devoted to the exchange of ideas, models and methods from various fields of industrial applications of mathematics. About 140 people from 21 countries attended the meeting. The aim was to bring together peo ple from industry and from university. In this respect the organizers were only partly successful!. The participance of about 20 people from industry shows that there is still much work to be done to increase the acceptance from this side. 72 speakers presented their results as invited or contributed lectures, or in the frame of 2 minisymposia. One minisymposium was organized by Heinz W. Engl and focused on steel processing, the other one, organized by Hansjorg Wacker, dealt with chemical engineering. These proceedings consist of 56 papers. The articles within each of the sections: Invited Lectures, Minisymposium Steel Processing, Minisymposium Chemical Engi neering, and Contributed Lectures are in alphabetical order of the first author. Exept for the contributions to the minisymposia, which clearly concentrate on the corre sponding topics, it is hard to find a reasonable classification of the papers . This, we believe, is typical for industrial mathematics and underlines the vast variety of fields where mathematics could be used to support problem solving. We would like to acknowlegde the valuable work of the referees of the articles who certainly helped to improve the quality of this volume.

Download or read book Technology Education Innovation and Management written by Kati Langer and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2012-12-06 with total page 329 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Developing the interface between humans and technology involves the strategic question of how to connect innovation in teaching with the creation of value. Originating from an international conference on technology education, innovation and management, this book provides a focused overview of theoretical findings on this topic as well as starting points for practical work. It not only displays the existing level of international agreement, but also demonstrates a commitment to further development of technology education. For example, parallels between teaching innovation and the work situation in smaller firms point to a general trend toward linking value creation and education. The book presents theory and practice clearly arranged with diagrams, figures and tables.
Download or read book The Learning Society Challenges and Trends written by Director of the Center for Great Plains Studies Professor of Economics Richard Edwards and published by Routledge. This book was released on 2013-12-16 with total page 313 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The 'learning society' is not a new idea, although its popularity has grown in recent years with the suggestion that lifelong learning is a condition for economic competitiveness in a global economy, replacing the earlier conception of it as a condition for democratic citizenship. This reader, designed to accompany Module E827 of the MA in Education, critically examines the demographic, technological, economic and cultural challenges which have led to interest in the idea of a learning society, and explores their policy and practical implications for lifelong learning. It also explores and evaluates trends in education and training which support the development of a learning society. Overall, the book provides readers with a range of opinions on the learning society within which broad context they can place their own practice.

Download or read book Trends in Control and Measurement Education written by D.P. Atherton and published by Elsevier. This book was released on 2014-06-28 with total page 259 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This volume is the published Proceedings of selected papers from the IFAC Symposium, Swansea, 11-13 July 1988, where a forum was provided for discussion of the latest advances and techniques in the education of control and instrument engineers. Seven major topics were covered to aid lecturers in understanding, developing and presenting systems engineering - control and measurement - as a subject to undergraduate and postgraduate students. The teaching of real-time computer control as a topic and laboratory experiments for both continuous and discrete systems were discussed, as was process control, with the emphasis on providing the student with engineering experience by using scaled-down equipment which would teach practical skills. Included in the Proceedings are papers on measurement and instrumentation, an area felt to be neglected within academic instruction. The development of software tools for systems design within systems engineering was included, as was the exchange of teaching packages and methods between academics, and the education curriculum of systems engineering within developing countries. These Proceedings will prove to be a useful up-to-date guide and reference source for all lecturers and professors involved in curriculum development and the teaching of control and measurement in systems engineering.

Download or read book Mainstreaming Equality in the European Union written by Teresa Rees and published by Routledge. This book was released on 2006-06-19 with total page 227 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Mainstreaming Equality in the European Union provides a critical overview and evaluation of the potential role of the EU in perpetuating or breaking down gender segregation in the EU labour force. Teresa Rees draws upon feminist theoretical frameworks in assessing Equal Opportunitues policies and the role of training in the labour market. The same economic imperatives which put women's training on the agenda have heightened interest in designing training which attracts women into mainstream provision. Mainstreaming Equality in the European Union addresses the urgent need for academics, education and training providers, as well as policy makers to be aware of current thinking at EU level on training policy.
