Book Daddy s Little Princess

Download or read book Daddy s Little Princess written by Crystal L. Narby and published by Xulon Press. This book was released on 2010-02 with total page 222 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Crystal longed for her father's love, but she felt only rejection. Added to that, she grew up in a home where incest and sexual molestation seemed "natural"-even from a very young age. But when her neighbor raped her and other men abused her she blamed herself. What have I done to make them do this to me? Her low self-esteem and depression led her into alcohol and drug abuse, sexual promiscuity, thoughts of suicide, self-destructive habits and dabbling in the occult. As an adult, she searched for her identity and purpose in life through being a wife, a mother and serving God. But miscarriages, failed adoptions and years of infertility kept her from her dream of being a mother. Crystal turned to adultery to find value in herself. But this only added to her guilt and shame. She believed she didn't deserve to be forgiven. At her lowest point, however, the heavenly Father filled her with His love and revealed her identity to her as Daddy's Little Princess. Crystal Narby served as a youth pastor for ten years and was involved with the Yokefellow Prison Ministry for many years. She was also a volunteer counselor for a domestic violence/rape crisis hotline. Presently she ministers healing and deliverance through Bible studies and speaking engagements. Her mission is to love the Lord and live a fasted life, according to Isaiah 58:6-7, and to go into all the world with the gospel of Jesus Christ, as commissioned in Mark 16:15-18. Crystal resides with her husband, Greg, and their son, Jayden, in Dubois, Pennsylvania.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Suzette is being raised by a sweet and gentle mother and her husband, a convicted felon and lifelong criminal. Not only is Dad a violent man, he may also be running from the mob. If only Suzette’s real father would claim her as his own. Then she wouldn’t have to be constantly defending herself. Then she would feel safe, happy, and loved. The question is—who is her real father, exactly? Is he the father of her older brother? And if he is, why won’t he claim Suzette as his own? Or is her bio-father the man who stabbed her mother in the back with a knife and left her for dead? That possibility is too terrible to even contemplate. For now, our heroine must live with these unanswered questions. She has more immediate concerns on her mind. Like, how to stay alive and strong while under the same roof with a dangerous man. And, how to keep her own heart pure and loving in the midst of the violence. Before all is said and done, Suzette will learn to fight back, find her voice, blaze her own trail, and discover the true meaning of love and family.

Born in 1970, Alice grew up in the impoverished backstreets of an industrial Northern town with her parents and seven brothers and sisters. She was first raped by her father when she was 11. From the age of 15, she was made pregnant six times by him in an effort to secure additional state benefits. All bar one of her pregnancies failed, but her daughter never made it through her first year. The death of her baby was the spur to Alice bringing her father and abuser to justice. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This modern classic is “a tough, tender, bitter novel of a black girl struggling towards womanhood” in 1930s Harlem—with a foreword by James Baldwin (Publishers Weekly). Depression-era Harlem is home for twelve-year-old Francie Coffin and her family, and it’s both a place of refuge and the source of untold dangers for her and her poor, working class family. The beloved “daddy” of the title indeed becomes a number runner when he is unable to find legal work, and while one of Francie’s brothers dreams of becoming a chemist, the other is already in a gang. Francie is a dreamer, too, but there are risks in everything from going to the movies to walking down the block, and her pragmatism eventually outweighs her hope; “We was all poor and black and apt to stay that way, and that was that.” First published in 1970, Daddy Was a Number Runner is one of the seminal novels of the black experience in America. The New York Times Book Review proclaimed it “a most important novel.”

Book excerpt: Daddys Girls is a rich yet simple family tale of love, madness and spirit told in the three first-person points of view of its three women. Overlapping vignettes create a vivid patchwork of lifes defining moments to reveal dark forces lurking beneath the familys typical middle-class veneer as they struggle to love one another. The story is fiction with a dash of magical realism, but the inspiration is autobiographical. Daddys Girls recently received a glowing review from Terry Mathews of Bookbrowser.com. She calls it A book that will speak to you on many levels...that can alter your perception of the world, broaden your horizons and urge you to think outside the box. The best book Ive read since Cunninghams THE HOURS. And Ruth Williams, author of Younger Than That Now says Daddys Girls is a luxuriant narrative, telling the stories of three complex women two sisters and their mother and how their lives are impacted by the mental illness of one. A fascinating and obviously well-informed look at heartbreaking realities. This is a book written from the heart.
