Book Combustion Gas Emitted Radiation and Chemiluminescence Phenomena

Download or read book Combustion Gas Emitted Radiation and Chemiluminescence Phenomena written by John S. GORDON and published by . This book was released on 1966 with total page 52 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The study was concerned with spectra of premix flames and combustion gases at low pressure, with applications to chemiluminescence, kinetic and reaction mechanism elucidation. Oxidizers were O2, NO, N2O, ClO3F; fuels were CH4, C2H4, C2H2 and H2S. Spectral scans coupled with thermochemical analyses indicated several bimolecular reaction mechanisms forming excited species at low pressure with characteristic signatures: CH + N to CN* + H; N + O to NO (doublet-pi) to NO*; CH + CH to C2* + H2; C + HO2 to CO* + OH; CH + SH to CS* + H2; CCl + OH to CO* + HCl; C2 + ClO to CCl* + CO. Several previously unreported CO bands (4th positive system) with v' = 0,1,2, and 3 were observed. In addition, emission from NH, OH, SO, S2, CH and CH(+) were seen. (Author).

Book Combustion Gas Emitted Radiation and Chemiluminescence Phenomena in Solid gas Reacting Systems

Download or read book Combustion Gas Emitted Radiation and Chemiluminescence Phenomena in Solid gas Reacting Systems written by John S. Gordon and published by . This book was released on 1967 with total page 23 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The study was concerned with emission spectra of flames and combustion gases at low pressure of premixed oxygen-hydrogen-ethylene with various solid fuels (plastics), with applications to chemiluminescence, kinetics and reaction mechanism elucidation. Premixed O2-C2H4-PH3 flames were also studied. Attempts to combust plastic samples with oxidizers directly at low pressure without a stable gaseous fuel-oxidizer flame were unsuccessful. Spectral scans coupled with thermochemical analyses indicated several bimolecular reaction mechanisms forming excited species at low pressure with characteristic signatures: CH + N to CN* + H; N + O to NO((2)pi) to NO*; CH + CH to C2* + H2; C + HO2 to CO* + OH; C2 + ClO to CCl* + CO; CCl + OH to CO* + HCl. In addition, emission bands from C3, NH, OH, CH, PO and a continuum possibly due to PO2 were seen. (Author).

Book High Temperature Vapors

    Book Details:
  • Author : John Hastie
  • Publisher : Academic Press
  • Release : 2012-12-02
  • ISBN : 0323148131
  • Pages : 497 pages

Download or read book High Temperature Vapors written by John Hastie and published by Academic Press. This book was released on 2012-12-02 with total page 497 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: High Temperature Vapors: Science and Technology focuses on the relationship of the basic science of high-temperature vapors to some areas of discernible practical importance in modern science and technology. The major high-temperature problem areas selected for discussion include chemical vapor transport and deposition; the vapor phase aspects of corrosion, combustion, and energy systems; and extraterrestrial high-temperature species. This book is comprised of seven chapters and begins with an introduction to the nature of the high-temperature vapor state, the scope and literature of high-temperature vapor-phase chemistry, and the role of high-temperature vapors in materials science. The discussion then turns to gas-solid reactions with vapor products; chemical vapor transport and deposition; vapor-phase aspects of corrosion at high temperature; and flames and combustion. High-temperature vapor-phase processes associated with gas turbine systems are also considered. The final chapter is devoted to the chemistry of high-temperature species in space. This monograph should serve as a valuable reference for undergraduate and graduate students, as well as scientists in fields such as chemistry, physics, materials science, and metallurgy.

Book Thermal Radiation

    Book Details:
  • Author : John R. Howell
  • Publisher : CRC Press
  • Release : 2023-03-14
  • ISBN : 1000831019
  • Pages : 476 pages

Download or read book Thermal Radiation written by John R. Howell and published by CRC Press. This book was released on 2023-03-14 with total page 476 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Thermal Radiation: An Introduction is a complete textbook for a one-semester introductory graduate course on radiative energy transfer. It bridges the gap between a basic introduction and comprehensive coverage of thermal radiation, focusing on insight into radiative transfer as practiced by engineers. Covering radiative transfer among surfaces, with an introduction to the effects of participating media between surfaces, the book includes surface and medium property characteristics and solutions to the radiative transfer equation in simple geometries. • Tailored and organized specifically to suit a one-semester graduate course in radiative heat transfer. • Emphasis is placed on insight into radiative transfer as practiced by engineers. • Discusses how radiation is incorporated into finite element analysis (FEA) codes. The textbook is intended for instructors and graduate students in a first-year course on radiative heat transfer or advanced heat transfer. Supplementary resources for students and instructors are available online.
