Book excerpt: The US Army uses division and theater-level simulation models to project wartime combat scenarios. Data describing suppression, or the parameters and effects of bombardment, both in terms of human performance and combat results, need to be collected, compiled, and analyzed in order to improve the quality of division and theater-level combat models. This research effort compiles, reduces, and performs preliminary analysis on data from existing operational analysis reports generated during World War II. The data can be used to suggest hypotheses and to identify promising research topics, but they are not considered adequate for modeling suppression.
