Book Foundation Design in Concrete Structure

Download or read book Foundation Design in Concrete Structure written by Antonio Templado and published by Independently Published. This book was released on 2020-05-20 with total page 0 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The main focus in foundation design is the determination of the depth of the footing due to the applied loads transferred by the column. This book covers all the details of designing four different footings: 1. Combined footing 2. Continuous footing 3 Square Footing, and 4. Rectangular Footing. It Includes all structural analysis, calculations, and drawings to support the theory of the design. The final column load obtained from my first book "Civil Engineering in Reinforced Concrete Design" is being used in this book for the complete design of the four above-mentioned footings. You have the option to have this first book or go ahead and proceed with the design without it. Remember that the calculations of the final column load(s) are the most important in the design of the foundation. My first book primarily focused on how all building loads are calculated to obtain the final column load that transfers the load to the footing supporting the column. The catalyst in Foundation Design is the determination of the thickness or depth of the footing which is explained in this book through the process and structural analysis. All reinforcement bar sizes are determined through this book as well as the development length "Ld", distances between bars, and their correct placements in the footing. Two important Analyses are used to make sure that the footings are safe, through Punching and Beam shear analysis.

Book Design Examples for High Strength Steel Reinforced Concrete Columns

Download or read book Design Examples for High Strength Steel Reinforced Concrete Columns written by Sing-Ping Chiew and published by CRC Press. This book was released on 2018-04-17 with total page 99 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book is the companion volume to Design of High Strength Steel Reinforced Concrete Columns – A Eurocode 4 Approach. This book provides a large number of worked examples for the design of high strength steel reinforced concrete (SRC) columns. It is based on the Eurocode 4 approach, but goes beyond this to give much needed guidance on the narrower range of permitted concrete and steel material strengths in comparison to EC2 and EC3, and the better ductility and buckling resistance of SRC columns compared to steel or reinforced concrete. Special considerations are given to resistance calculations that maximize the full strength of the materials, with concrete cylinder strength up to 90 N/mm2, yield strength of structural steel up to 690 N/mm2 and yield strength of reinforcing steel up to 600 N/mm2 respectively. These examples build on the design principles set out in the companion volume, allowing the readers to practice and understand the EC4 methodology easily. Structural engineers and designers who are familiar with basic EC4 design should find these design examples particularly helpful, whilst engineering undergraduate and graduate students who are studying composite steel concrete design and construction should easily gain further understanding from working through the worked examples which are set out in a step-by-step clearly fashion.
