Book A 3 Skywarrior Units of the Vietnam War

Download or read book A 3 Skywarrior Units of the Vietnam War written by Rick Morgan and published by Bloomsbury Publishing. This book was released on 2015-03-20 with total page 201 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Douglas A-3 Skywarrior, though something of a cult favourite, remains a largely unremarked classic of Naval Aviation. Built for nuclear weapon delivery, the A-3 made its name in Vietnam as a conventional bomber, tanker and Electronic Warfare platform. It was the largest aircraft ever regularly operated from the decks of aircraft carriers, earning it the fleet-wide nickname 'Whale'. It excelled in every mission area assigned to it and operated in the US Navy for more than four decades, from 1956 through to 1991. Fully illustrated to depict the incredible array of paint schemes and its awesome size, this volume focuses on the type's Vietnam service, which saw the aircraft briefly used as a bomber over both North and South Vietnam from March 1965, before the Skywarrior proved far more valuable as a multi-role tanker (KA-3B) and tanker/tactical jammer (EKA-3B). The title includes details on all of these operations as well as more clandestine reconnaissance missions, and provides information about the men that flew them.

Book A 6 Intruder Units 1974 96

Download or read book A 6 Intruder Units 1974 96 written by Rick Morgan and published by Bloomsbury Publishing. This book was released on 2017-07-27 with total page 97 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In the three decades following Vietnam, the veteran A-6 Intruder remained the most powerful strike aircraft available to the US Navy and Marine Corps. Engaged in operations over Cambodia, Lebanon and Libya during the 1970s and 80s, the A-6 maintained its reputation as the 'Main Battery' of carrier aviation, remaining in service through the First Gulf War up until 1996 when its duties were taken over by the F-14 Tomcat. Following on from his study of the A-6 Intruder's exploits during the Vietnam War, Rick Morgan details the technological developments that were introduced to the airframe after that conflict and how it shaped the operational employment of the aircraft. Filled with first-hand accounts from pilots and navigators, as well as profile artwork and photographs, this is the complete story of the US Navy's main medium attack aircraft in the latter part of the Cold War.

Book US Navy A 7 Corsair II Units of the Vietnam War

Download or read book US Navy A 7 Corsair II Units of the Vietnam War written by Peter Mersky and published by Bloomsbury Publishing. This book was released on 2012-10-20 with total page 234 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Arriving on station with the USS Ranger (CVA-61) in early December 1967, the first Corsair II squadron became operational immediatedly and sustained its first combat loss three weeks later. This book tells how the A-7 soon proved its worth supporting ground operations in South Vietnam. As it continued to serve in the ground support role, the navy swiftly introduced the A-7E which soon ran into difficulties with supply lines perhaps on account of what many perceived to have been a rushed introduction to service. Once these teething problems were resolved, the A-7E became the primary air-to-ground aircraft of the fleet.

Book EA 6B Prowler Model

    Book Details:
  • Author : Glenn Hoover
  • Publisher :
  • Release : 2021-04-13
  • ISBN :
  • Pages : 226 pages

Download or read book EA 6B Prowler Model written by Glenn Hoover and published by . This book was released on 2021-04-13 with total page 226 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book contains detailed instructions on building the Grumman EA-6B Prowler 1/48 scale model aircraft from Kinetic (Kit K48044). These instructions can also be used for kit K48022. In addition to the kit's instructions, there are several aftermarket kits. AM 48114 Wolfpack Radar & Avionics Resin kit, AM 48672 eduard Exterior photo etch, AM 48680 eduard Wing Fold photo etch, AM 48681 eduard Undercarriage photo etch, AM 48684 eduard Electronics Equipment Cage photo etch, AM 49519 eduard Interior photo etch, AM 49520 eduard Seatbelts photo etch. Can you imagine merging all of these instructions? Well, I've done that for you and more. I take the model kit instructions from Kinetic along with the eduard and Wolfpack AM sets and break them up into individual steps. The aftermarket steps are colored gray making them easy to skip if you just have the basic model. This book provides a little history of the EA-6B Prowler, a detailed list of tools that I used to build this model, along with a list of paints. The actual instruction section contains 1,178 steps and 163 plus figures over 226 pages that tell you what to dry fit, glue, and/or paint for each individual piece. Each step instruction shows the source (i.e., either Kinetic or AM) along with a block to mark that you completed the step. I provide an index of the individual sprue parts that show where in the book the part is mentioned. This index was a great way to make sure that no pieces were overlooked. Finally, there are several pages of in-process photos with assembly tips and the final photos of my build for reference. This book is a great checklist to make your build go smoothly. Of course, you can feel free to use different tools, paint, weathering, etc. or even add your own diorama. I hope you find this book useful. Book US Marine Corps and RAAF Hornet Units of Operation Iraqi Freedom

Download or read book US Marine Corps and RAAF Hornet Units of Operation Iraqi Freedom written by Tony Holmes and published by Bloomsbury Publishing. This book was released on 2012-11-20 with total page 233 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Some 84 of the 250 Hornets committed by Central Command to Operation Iraqi Freedom (OIF) proudly bore MARINE titling on their rear fuselages. A further 14 were marked with the distinctive kangaroo roundel of the Royal Australian Air Force (RAAF). The exploits achieved by the units that flew these jets into combat is detailed in this volume, the third of three titles published in the Combat Aircraft series on what has been dubbed by many TACAIR insiders the 'Hornet's War'. Although the bulk of this book deals with the major hostilities phase of OIF I, which ran from 20 March to 20 April 2003, the decade of pre-war OSW missions and ongoing post-war OIF II operations are also covered in significant detail from the Marine Corps perspective. Profusely illustrated with rare frontline photography and more than 30 specially commissioned colour artworks, this book also features the combat experiences of 24 pilots and Weapons Systems Officers.
