Book Time Dependent Density Functional Theory

Download or read book Time Dependent Density Functional Theory written by Carsten Ullrich and published by Oxford University Press. This book was released on 2012 with total page 541 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Time-dependent density-functional theory (TDDFT) is a quantum mechanical approach for the dynamical properties of electrons in matter. It's widely used in (bio)chemistry and physics to calculate molecular excitation energies and optical properties of materials. This is the first graduate-level text on the formal framework and applications of TDDFT.

Book Optical Control of Molecular Dynamics

Download or read book Optical Control of Molecular Dynamics written by Stuart A. Rice and published by Wiley-Interscience. This book was released on 2000-03-13 with total page 0 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Advances in laser technology over the last 10-15 years have stimulated study of the active control of quantum molecular dynamics. Lasers may used to generate external fields of varying intensity, phases, and spectral content, which then are used to alter the molecular dynamics of a system so as to generate more of a particular product. Control of reactions at this microscopic level is one of the hot areas of research in chemical physics. This book describes the current status of the theory of optical control of molecular dynamics

Book Recent Progress in Quantum Monte Carlo

Download or read book Recent Progress in Quantum Monte Carlo written by Lubos Mitas and published by ACS Symposium. This book was released on 2018-02-02 with total page 184 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The chapters in this monograph present topics ranging from recent algorithmic developments to demanding applications that showcase the power of current quantum Monte Carlo methodologies. New challenges including the treatment of spin, non-adiabatic effects, non-bonded interactions, and entanglement estimation are also presented along with a perspective on the state of the field. Quantum Monte Carlo methods have proved to be very successful in calculations of many-body quantum systems. The number of applications, as well as a variety of algorithms, is growing despite the fact that the fermion sign problem imposes a significant and fundamental challenge on the efficiency of stochastic approaches in general. Quantum Monte Carlo methods allow for the solution of the many-body problem with advantageous scaling properties compared to variational basis set approaches. Both fermionic and bosonic systems can be tackled in order to obtain ground state properties or ensemble averages in the context of statistical mechanics.

Download or read book Radiationless Processes written by Baldassare Di Bartolo and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2012-12-06 with total page 555 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book presents an account of the NATO Advanced Study Institute on "Radiationless Processes," held in Erice, Italy, from November 18 to December 1, 1979. This meeting was organized by the International School of Atomic and Molecular Spectroscopy of the "Ettore Majorana" Centre for Scientific Culture. The objective of the Institute was to formulate a comprehensive treatment of the various processes by which molecules and crystals in excited electronic levels relax nonradiatively to the ground level. A total of 83 participants came from 62 laboratories and 22 nations (Australia, Belgium, Brasil, Canada, Czechoslovakia, France, F. R. Germany, Greece, Hungary, India, Ireland, Israel, Italy, Mexico, The Netherlands, Poland, Portugal, Switzerland, Turkey, United Kingdom, United States, and U.S.S.R.). The secretaries of the Institute were: Velda Goldberg for the scientific aspects and Antonino La Francesca for the administrative aspects of the meeting. Eleven series of lectures for a total of 36 hours were given. Nine "long" seminars and 7 "short" seminars were also presented. In addition, two informal seminars and 2 round-table discussions were held. After an introductory overview of the theory of radiation1ess processes, the Institute dealt firstly with the interaction of electrons with the distribution of vibrational modes in simple molecules, then with the increasingly complex situation found in large lsolated molecules, gnd finally with the coupling of excited electrons with the continuous phonon distribution in insulating solids.
