Download or read book Cognitieve gedragstherapie bij somatisatie written by Sako Visser and published by Springer. This book was released on 2015-11-02 with total page 90 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle.

Book Cognitieve Gedragstherapie Bij Depressie

Download or read book Cognitieve Gedragstherapie Bij Depressie written by P. J. Molenaar and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2009-12-01 with total page 82 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle.

Download or read book Behandelingsstrategie n bij somatoforme stoornissen written by Ph. Spinhoven and published by Springer. This book was released on 2015-12-03 with total page 131 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle.

Book The Clinical Neuropsychiatry of Multiple Sclerosis

Download or read book The Clinical Neuropsychiatry of Multiple Sclerosis written by Anthony Feinstein and published by Cambridge University Press. This book was released on 1999-08-12 with total page 220 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book provides a detailed survey of the emotional, behavioural and cognitive disorders prevalent among patients with Multiple Sclerosis (MS), including depression, mania, psychosis, pathological laughing and crying, and cognitive dysfunction. Attention has tended to focus on the physical aspects of MS, the commonest source of neurological disability in young and middle-aged adults, but recognition and treatment of the behavioural changes associated with the disease can be equally important in improving quality of life for the patient. For each of the neuropsychiatric disorders associated with MS, clear clinical guidelines are given for diagnosis and treatment, there is a detailed review of the literature, and case vignettes are incorporated. There are chapters on screening and neuroimaging and a final chapter examines the broader concept of subcortical white matter dementia. This book will be of interest to psychiatrists, neurologists, psychologists, nurses and other professionals involved in the management of patients with MS.

Book CBT for Those at Risk of a First Episode Psychosis

Download or read book CBT for Those at Risk of a First Episode Psychosis written by Mark van der Gaag and published by Routledge. This book was released on 2013-07-18 with total page 293 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Can severe mental illness be prevented by early intervention? Mental illness is highly prevalent in the general population and has its onset mostly in adolescence and young adulthood. Early intervention usually leads to improved prognosis. This book describes a newly developed, evidence based cognitive behavioural intervention that can be used by clinicians to treat the precursor symptoms of psychosis and other severe mental illness. CBT for those at risk of a First Episode Psychosis offers a detailed new psychotherapy that has been shown to reduce the chance of transition to a first psychotic episode and to improve the chance for recovery. This encompasses: Psycho-education about prepsychotic symptoms A review of literature about psychological processes that are known to play a role in the development of psychosis A comprehensive manual – illustrated by numerous clinical vignettes - that can be used to treat help-seeking subjects with an increased risk of developing psychosis. Links to online resources and exercises to be used in therapy and education. A description of the multicentre randomized clinical trial investigating this new psychotherapy. The vast collective experience and expertise of the authors of this handbook results in an invaluable text for clinicians working in mental health care, as well as students, lecturers and researchers who have an interest in the prevention of schizophrenia and other severe mental illness.

Book Social Cognition and Metacognition in Schizophrenia

Download or read book Social Cognition and Metacognition in Schizophrenia written by Paul Lysaker and published by Elsevier. This book was released on 2014-07-04 with total page 354 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Deficits in social cognition and metacognition in schizophrenics makes it difficult for them to understand the speech, facial expressions and hence emotion and intention of others, as well as allowing little insight into their own mental state. These deficits are associated with poor social skills, fewer social relationships, and are predictive of poorer performance in a work setting. Social Cognition and Metacognition in Schizophrenia reviews recent research advances focusing on the precise nature of these deficits, when and how they manifest themselves, what their effect is on the course of schizophrenia, and how each can be treated. These deficits may themselves be why schizophrenia is so difficult to resolve; by focusing on the deficits, recovery may be quicker and long lasting. This book discusses such deficits in early onset, first episode, and prolonged schizophrenia; how the deficits relate to each other and to other forms of psychopathology; how the deficits affect social, psychological, and vocational functioning; and how best to treat the deficits in either individual or group settings. Summarizes the types of social cognitive and metacognitive deficits present in schizophrenia Discusses how deficits are related to each other and to other forms of psychopathology Describes how deficits impact function and affect the recovery process Provides treatment approaches for these deficits

How to understand and explain this loss of common sense? They also consider: What is the relationship of practical reasoning and logical formal reasoning with schizophrenia? What is the relationship between the person with a diagnosis of schizophrenia and social values? Chapters examine such issues as rationality, emotions, self, and delusion. In addition, one looks at brain structure and neurotransmission. Others explore phenomenological and Wittgensteinian theories. Book Can t Get You Out of My Head Brain Body Interactions in Perseverative Cognition

Download or read book Can t Get You Out of My Head Brain Body Interactions in Perseverative Cognition written by Cristina Ottaviani and published by Frontiers Media SA. This book was released on 2018-02-16 with total page 111 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Perseverative cognition is defined as the repetitive or sustained activation of cognitive representations of past stressful events or feared events in the future and even at non-clinical levels it causes a “fight-or-flight” action tendency, followed by a cascade of biological events, starting in the brain and ending as peripheral stress responses. In the past decade, such persistent physiological activation has proven to impact individuals’ health, potentially leading to somatic disease. As such, perseverative cognition has recently been proposed as the missing piece in the relationships between stress, psychopathology, and risk for health. Perseverative cognition is indeed a hallmark of conditions such as anxiety and mood disorders that are at increased -though still unexplained- cardiovascular risk. Although the pivotal role of ruminative and worrisome thoughts in determining the onset and maintenance of psychopathological disorders has been acknowledged for a long time, its effects on the body via reciprocal influences between mental processes and the body's physiology have been neglected. Moreover, perseverative cognition is definitely not restricted to psychopathology, it is extremely common and likely even omnipresent, pervading daily life. The objective of the Research Topic is to provide an interdisciplinary examination of cutting-edge neuroscientific research on brain-body signatures of perseverative cognition in both healthy and psychopathological individuals. Despite the evident role of the brain in repetitive thinking and the assumption that our mind is embodied, bran-body pathways from perseverative cognition to health risk have remained largely unexplored.

The empirical section of the text compares and contrasts psychotic and dissociative disorders from a wide range of perspectives, including phenomenology, childhood trauma, and memory and cognitive disturbances, whilst the clinical section focuses on the assessment, differential diagnosis and treatment of these disorders, along with proposals for new and novel hybrid disorders. This important resource: • Offers extensive updated coverage of the field, from all relevant perspectives • Brings together in one text contributions from scholars and clinicians working in diverse geographical and theoretical areas • Helps define and bring cohesion to this new and important field • Features nine new chapters on: conceptions of trauma, dissociation and psychosis, PTSD with psychotic features, delusions and memory, trauma treatment of psychotic symptoms, and differences between the diagnostic groups on hypnotizability, memory disturbances, brain imaging, auditory verbal hallucinations and psychological testing Written for clinicians, researchers and academics in the areas of trauma, child abuse, dissociation and psychosis, but relevant for psychiatrists, psychologists and psychotherapists working in any area, the revised second edition of Psychosis, Trauma and Dissociation makes an invaluable contribution to this important evolving field.
