Download or read book Structure and Properties of Additive Manufactured Polymer Components written by Klaus Friedrich and published by Woodhead Publishing. This book was released on 2020-06-18 with total page 462 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Structure and Properties of Additive Manufactured Polymer Components provides a state-of-the-art review from leading experts in the field who discuss key developments that have appeared over the last decade or so regarding the use of additive manufacturing (AM) methods in the production of neat and reinforced polymeric components. A major focus is given to materials science aspects, i.e., how the quality of the polymer preforms, the parameters of the chosen AM method, and how these factors can affect the microstructure and properties of the final product. The book not only covers production technologies and the relationship between processing, microstructure and fundamental properties of the produced parts, but also gives readers ideas on the use of AM polymer parts in medicine, automotive, aerospace, tribology, electronics, and more. - Focuses on industrial aspects and applications - Dedicated purely to recent advances in polymer composite additive manufacturing - Emphasizes processing, structure and property relationships
Download or read book Landslide Hazards Risks and Disasters written by Tim Davies and published by Elsevier. This book was released on 2021-10-17 with total page 698 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Landslide Hazards, Risks and Disasters Second Edition makes a broad but detailed examination of major aspects of mass movements and their consequences, and provides knowledge to form the basis for more complete and accurate monitoring, prediction, preparedness and reduction of the impacts of landslides on society. The frequency and intensity of landslide hazards and disasters has consistently increased over the past century, and this trend will continue as society increasingly utilises steep landscapes. Landslides and related phenomena can be triggered by other hazard and disaster processes – such as earthquakes, tsunamis, volcanic eruptions and wildfires – and they can also cause other hazards and disasters, making them a complex multi-disciplinary challenge. This new edition of Landslide Hazards, Risks and Disasters is updated and includes new chapters, covering additional topics including rockfalls, landslide interactions and impacts and geomorphic perspectives. Knowledge, understanding and the ability to model landslide processes are becoming increasingly important challenges for society extends its occupation of increasingly hilly and mountainous terrain, making this book a key resource for educators, researchers and disaster managers in geophysics, geology and environmental science. - Provides an interdisciplinary perspective on the geological, seismological, physical, environmental and social impacts of landslides - Presents the latest research on causality, impacts and landslide preparedness and mitigation. Includes numerous tables, maps, diagrams, illustrations, photographs and video captures of hazardous processes - Discusses steps for planning for and responding to landslide hazards, risks and disasters

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The present handbook offers, in a quick reference format, an overview of key considerations in the implementation of participatory responses to crime based on a restorative justice approach. Its focus is on a range of measures and programmes, inspired by restorative justice values, that are flexible in their adaptation to criminal justice systems and that complement them while taking into account varying legal, social and cultural circumstances. It was prepared for the use of criminal justice officials, non-governmental organizations and community groups who are working together to improve current responses to crime and conflict in their community

Download or read book Effect Directed Analysis of Complex Environmental Contamination written by Werner Brack and published by Springer. This book was released on 2013-05-29 with total page 346 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Today more than 5 million chemicals are known and roughly 100,000 of them are frequently used, with both numbers rising. Many of these chemicals are ultimately released into the environment and may cause adverse effects to ecosystems and human health. Effect-directed analysis (EDA) is a promising tool for identifying predominant toxicants in complex, mostly environmental mixtures combining effect testing, fractionation and chemical analysis. In the present book leading experts in the field provide an overview of relevant approaches and tools used in EDA. This includes diagnostic biological tools, separation techniques and advanced analytical and computer tools for toxicant identification and structure elucidation. Examples of the successful application of EDA are discussed such as the identification of mutagens in airborne particles and sediments, of endocrine disruptors in aquatic ecosystems and of major toxicants in pulp and paper mill effluents. This book is a valuable, comprehensive and interdisciplinary source of information for environmental scientists and environmental agencies dealing with the analysis, monitoring and assessment of environmental contamination.
