Book COASTAL SEDIMENTS TEXTURAL AND STATISTICAL ANALYSIS

Download or read book COASTAL SEDIMENTS TEXTURAL AND STATISTICAL ANALYSIS written by Dr. Gundabattula Appa Rao & Dr. Tonda Karuna Karudu and published by Laxmi Book Publication. This book was released on 2023-11-11 with total page 112 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The coastline of Andhra Pradesh is situated on the Southeast coast of Indian Peninsula with waters of Bay of Bengal and length of the coastline is 974 kilometers. The coastline endowed with huge recent sediments. These have been attracting the attention of geologists for research in many aspects. The research output yields an excellent opportunity to examine texture, composition and distribution pattern of coastal sediments and is useful for delineating valuable minerals that are enriched in good abundance of coastal region. The coastal region contains heavy minerals like ilmenite, magnetite, garnet, sillimanite, rutile, zircon, monazite and epidote etc. These heavy minerals play a major role in different mineral based industries.

Book Quantitative Techniques for the Analysis of Sediments

Download or read book Quantitative Techniques for the Analysis of Sediments written by Daniel F Merriam and published by Elsevier. This book was released on 2017-01-31 with total page 187 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Quantitative Techniques for the Analysis of Sediments: An International Symposium is a compilation of studies about the integration and application of statistics, mathematics, and computers in the field of sedimentology. The book includes 13 studies from different experts in the field of sedimentology. These studies discuss topics such as the analysis and management of systems suitable for sedimentological data; the different methods of analysis and the numerical classification of different sedimentological data; and the assessment of quantitative methods in comparing lithological succession data. Also included is the trend analysis of sedimentary thickness data; numerical classification of multi-variate petrographic presence-absence data by association analysis; and the mathematical modeling and statistical recognition of terrestrial and marine sediments. The text will interest those in the field of sedimentology and geology, especially those who are engaged in research and wish to be aided by the different techniques included.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Coastlines of the world are as diverse as any geological setting onEarth. Beaches and Coasts is an exciting and unique new textbookthat provides an exhaustive treatment of the world's differentcoasts and details the highly varied processes that have shapedthem. Having conducted research on coastlines throughout the world, the authors draw on a wealth of experience that broadens thecontent of chapters and provides for numerous and varied examples. The book furnishes a basic understanding of the tectonic framework, hydrographic regime, climatic setting, and geologic materials thatdetermine the morphology of a coast. Individual chapters aredevoted to major coastal environments such as barriers, tidalinlets, marshes, estuaries, lagoons, deltas, glaciated coasts, rocky coasts and many others. Beaches and Coasts provides the necessary content forteaching a broad coastal geology course. Though designed forintroductory students, its comprehensive treatment of coastaltopics will make it appropriate for many upper level courses. Book Sediments and Water Interactions

Download or read book Sediments and Water Interactions written by Peter G. Sly and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2012-12-06 with total page 514 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The first symposium on sediment/freshwater interactions was held in Amsterdam, in 1976, and the second was held at Kingston, Ontario, Canada, in 1981. The third symposium was held at the University of Geneva, in 1984, and also included a num ber of contributions dealing with sediment/saltwater interactions. It is expected that future symposia of this series will retain this approach, and that the revised sympo sium title will remain the same for later proceedings of these meetings. Because of the large number of submissions in 1984, many were given as poster presentations. Extended abstracts of all contributions to the Geneva symposium appear in Interactions Between Sediments and Ubter (C. E. P. Consultants Ltd. , 26 Albany St. , Edinburgh, EHI 3QH, U. K. , 1984). Full-length papers appear only in the proceedings. The format of the third symposium was similar to its predecessors. The location provided a particularly good opportunity for attendance by European scientists, who represented about 81% of the participants. About 16% came from North America and 3% were from Southeast Asia and Australia. It is unfortunate that there were no contributors from either Africa or South America, or other parts of Asia. In all, 16 countries were represented at this symposium. In a continuing attempt to provide equal opportunities for attendance by scientists from other parts of the world, it is planned to hold the next symposium in Australia in 1987. Further information about the symposia series can be obtained from Dr. E. D.
