Book Walking in Norfolk

Download or read book Walking in Norfolk written by Laurence Mitchell and published by Cicerone Press Limited. This book was released on 2017-03-31 with total page 209 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This guidebook describes 40 day walks across Norfolk ranging in length from 4 to 12 miles. The walks are divided into five sections: the northeast coast and the Broads; south Norfolk, the Yare and Waveney; North Norfolk and the Coast; Central Norfolk and Breckland; and West Norfolk and the Fens. Each walk is described step-by-step, illustrated with 1:40K OS map extracts and packed with historical, geological and other information about the landscape the route passes through. All walks are circular, along footpaths, bridleways and quiet country lanes, and some use parts of long-distance paths, including the Peddars Way, Norfolk Coast Path, Boudica's Way and Weavers Way. The Fenland region of Norfolk's far west is flat and low-lying, as are the marshes and waterways of the Broads in the east, but between these two extremes there is a great deal of topography going on. The county is far more varied than most outsiders imagine, with several distinct and unique landscapes. As well as Broads and the Fens, it has the sandy Brecks, rolling farmland, ancient woodland, meandering rivers and the gorgeous North Norfolk coast with its beaches, shingle banks, salt marshes and tidal mud flats.

Book The Peddars Way and Norfolk Coast path

Download or read book The Peddars Way and Norfolk Coast path written by Phoebe Smith and published by Cicerone Press. This book was released on 2019-05-15 with total page 153 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Peddars Way and Norfolk Coast Path National Trail is an easy-to-follow 130-mile trail that combines the best of inland and coastal walking in Norfolk, and one that, being well waymarked, largely flat and within easy reach of public transport for most of its length, is ideal for people new to long-distance walks. Described in 11 stages, the route can be walked in just over a week but also easily split into day walks or over a series of weekends, with full information about access to start and finish points for each stage by public transport. This handy guidebook is illustrated throughout with extracts of OS 1:50K mapping and stunning photographs depicting the Trail in all seasons and describes points of interest along the way, including the Norfolk Songlines sculptures, and also facilities available in the towns and villages. The trail is a walk of two halves. The Peddars Way begins at Knettishall Heath in Suffolk and follows the route of an old Roman road for over 40 miles to Holme-next-the-Sea, where it meets the Norfolk Coast Path (which begins nearby, at Hunstanton). This then follows the spectacular Norfolk coast to the seaside town of Hopton-on-Sea.

This book was released on 2016-05-18 with total page 62 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Dog Walks Around The Norfolk Coast contains 16 circular dog friendly walks which vary in length, but all have one thing in common; very little time is needed on the lead. This book was created from my own desire to find good dog walks which didn't take all day, and which would let the dogs run free as much as possible. Many of the walks I discovered whilst writing this book were great for us as humans, but not quite so good for dogs. There were too many trails which required lots of road walking, which was something I have tried to avoid as much as possible here. The walks cover the whole of the Norfolk Coast stretching from Snettisham on the west coast to Caister-on-Sea on the east coast, and all are suitable for any size of dog! Each walk gives you: >the postcode for parking >a brief sentence on what you're likely to see >the length of walk >the OS map relevant to the area >a detailed hand drawn map of the route >clear instructions on following the route Covering 16 coastal dog walks, this is a handy little book for exploring the beautiful Norfolk coastline.
