Book CO Hydrogenation and Adsorption Studies on Supported Nickel SMSI Catalysts

Download or read book CO Hydrogenation and Adsorption Studies on Supported Nickel SMSI Catalysts written by S. M. Fang and published by . This book was released on 1985 with total page 13 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The uptake of CO by Ni/TiO2 and Ni/Ti2O3 was investigated at 25 and 125 C following low-temperature (LT = 250 C) and high-temperature (HT = 450 C) reduction. Infrared spectroscopy was used to identify the onset of nickel carbonyl (Ni(CO)4) formation under various conditions of temperature and pressure. The CO uptake data were modeled using the Langmuir equation for isothermal adsorption. Monolayer coverages and equilibrium constants for CO adsorption were obtained from the uptake data. Carbon monoxide monolayer coverages were not affected by the reduction temperature of either Ni/TiO2 or Ni/Ti2O3. Methanation activity at 275C was approximately a factor of 2 greater for the Ni/TiO2 (LT) than the NiTO2 (HT) catalyst. This correlated well with the relative strength of the CO-metal surface bond, which also decreased by a factor of approximately 2. These findings suggest that the enhanced methanation rate observed on TiO2 supported catalysts is not due to the presence or absence of a strong metal-support interaction condition of the TiO2 but to other properties of TiO2 as compared to other supports. Book Surface Segregationphenomena

Download or read book Surface Segregationphenomena written by Peter A. Dowben and published by CRC Press. This book was released on 1990-08-29 with total page 444 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The purpose of this book is to discuss the phenomena associated with the segregation of one element in a multicomponent material. It describes the kinetics of segregation and contains a tabular summary of the pros and cons of the various models. The easy-to-read chapters outline in detail the macroscopic approach and provide an in-depth review of broken-bond models. This comprehensive informative resource also addresses important multicomponent systems. These systems include metals with non-metallic constituents, semiconductor-metal interfaces, steels and steel-related alloys, and real catalysts. Readers of this text will gain a good fundamental understanding and overview of surface, interfacial, and selvedge segregation. Those who have an interest in physics, vacuum science, material science, and chemical, mechanical, and electrical engineering will benefit from this imperative work.

Book excerpt: Catalysts are required for a variety of applications and researchers are increasingly challenged to find cost effective and environmentally benign catalysts to use. This volume looks at modern approaches to catalysis and reviews the extensive literature. Chapters highlight reactions active under oxidative coupling of methane conditions and how they are interlinked, heterogeneous nickel catalysts and their use in laboratory and industry, the reaction mechanism of heterogeneous catalysis with the surface science probe, the concepts of electroless deposition (ED) methods for preparation of true bimetallic catalysts, the general subject of metal-support interactions occurring over ruthenium-based catalysts and benzene as the target volatile organic compound (VOC). Appealing broadly to researchers in academia and industry, these illustrative chapters bridge the gap from academic studies in the laboratory to practical applications in industry not only for catalysis field but also for environmental protection. The book will be of great benefit to any researcher wanting a succinct reference on developments in this area now and looking to the future.

Book Metal Support and Metal Additive Effects in Catalysis

Download or read book Metal Support and Metal Additive Effects in Catalysis written by B. Imelik and published by Elsevier. This book was released on 2000-04-01 with total page 397 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Metal-Support and Metal-Additive Effects in Catalysis, Volume 11, documents the proceedings of an international symposium organized by the Institut de Recherches sur la Catalyse - CNRS – Villeurbanne and sponsored by the Centre National de la Recherche Scientifique, Ecully (Lyon), September 14-16, 1982. This volume contains 40 manuscripts that cover a wide range of topics. Among these are studies of metal-support interactions involving Pt/Al2O3, Pt/TiO2,Fe/TiO2, Pt/MgO, Rh /Al2O3, and Pt/CeO2 catalysts. There are also separate chapters dealing with ethane, n-butane, and cyclohexane hydrogenolysis; skeletal isomerization of methylpentanes; the catalytic activity and selectivity of noble metals; CO hydrogenation over supported on SiO2, Al2O3, Ti O2,and Zr O2 nickel catalysts; and the role of promoters in Pd catalysts for methanol synthesis. Subsequent chapters cover the poisoning of platinum and nickel by sulfur; C6H6 and CO chemisorption on Pt78Ni22 (111) single crystal alloy; the surface composition of industrial ammonia synthesis catalysts; and the role of alkalis and electronegative promoters on Fe and Ni catalysts.

Book Catalytic Hydrogenation

Download or read book Catalytic Hydrogenation written by L. Cervený and published by Elsevier. This book was released on 1986-08-01 with total page 705 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The collection of contributions in this volume presents the most up-to-date findings in catalytic hydrogenation. The individual chapters have been written by 36 top specialists each of whom has achieved a remarkable depth of coverage when dealing with his particular topic. In addition to detailed treatment of the most recent problems connected with catalytic hydrogenations, the book also contains a number of previously unpublished results obtained either by the authors themselves or within the organizations to which they are affiliated.Because of its topical and original character, the book provides a wealth of information which will be invaluable not only to researchers and technicians dealing with hydrogenation, but also to all those concerned with homogeneous and heterogeneous catalysis, organic technology, petrochemistry and chemical engineering.

Book The Chemistry of the Catalyzed Hydrogenation of Carbon Monoxide

Download or read book The Chemistry of the Catalyzed Hydrogenation of Carbon Monoxide written by G. Henrici-Olive and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2012-12-06 with total page 239 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: During the oil embargo, in the winter 1973174, parts of Western Europe present ed an almost war-like aspect on Saturdays and Sundays: no traffic on the high ways, no crowds at ski resorts and other weekend entertainment places, no gaso line at the pumps. Living and teaching then in that part of the world, and discussing the situa tion with our students, we came to the conclusion that it would be timely to col lect the fine chemistry already known at the time in the field of conversion of coal to gasoline and other chemicals, and by this way help to draw the attention to this important alternative to crude oil. The idea of this book was born. The energy shock of the early seventies has been healthy and of great conse quences in chemistry. Large amounts of research money have been put to work since, and our knowledge of the possibilities and limitations of coal-based chemistry has increased enormously. During several years it appeared inap propriate to write a monograph about a topic which was in the midst of such an impetuous development. Nevertheless, we collected, and critically selected, the upcoming work as it appeared in the literature, and also tried to provide some modest input ourselves. Now, ten years later, the situation seems to be settled to a certain degree.
