Book Create an Uber Clone in 7 Days

Download or read book Create an Uber Clone in 7 Days written by Shai Almog and published by Clone a Mobile App in Java. This book was released on 2018-07-28 with total page 440 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Do you want to build a location based mobile application? Do you read technical books and feel that they left some parts out? Do you want to get into mobile programming with "real world" examples? If you answered yes to one of these questions this book might be for you! The goal of this book is to teach via familiarity. Since the Uber application is well designed and familiar we chose it as the target but the book isn't meant as a "copy Uber" cookbook. Many applications are built around ideas similar to Uber and utilize designs inspired by Uber. It's our assumption that you can learn a lot by understanding how to build something "like" Uber. We break down a real world application from client to the server. This fills in all the pieces, that typical tech books skim over. This book covers: iOS/Android development with Codename One Spring Boot server development on top of MySQL WebSockets, WebServices and push notification as the communication layer Creating a sublime UI to match professional designs Map based user interface User authorization via SMS/Social Networks Best practices, security and pitfalls of mobile development The book requires basic knowledge of Java but doesn't require prior knowledge of Codename One, Spring Boot or MySQL. Notice that this book is "code heavy", it contains many listings as it implements a full stack mobile app. Uber (TM) is a trademark of Uber Technologies Inc. This work is intended strictly for educational purposes. We don't condone the misuse of Uber IP! About the Author: Shai's professional software development career started more than 25 years ago. He worked for/with countless companies including Sun Microsystems, Oracle, Samsung, Nokia as well as banks, insurance companies etc. Shai was a team member on the original Wireless Toolkit from Sun Microsystems. It was the most popular cross platform mobile development tool at the time, and revolutionized the field. Together with Chen Fishbein they created LWUIT which became the most successful mobile open source project from Sun Microsystems and the basis for Codename One. Shai is a Java One rockstar who shared the stage with the likes of James Gosling. As a highly rated speaker he was featured in multiple conferences such as JavaZone, codemotion, dev days etc. He blogs at Codename One as well as Hackernoon, JavaCodeGeeks and dzone (MVB).

Book Biology and Biotechnology of the Plant Hormone Ethylene II

Download or read book Biology and Biotechnology of the Plant Hormone Ethylene II written by A.K. Kanellis and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2012-12-06 with total page 451 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The inflorescence of the monoecious maize plant is unique among the Gramineae in the sharp separation of the male and female structures. The male tassel at the terminus of the plant most often sheds pollen before the visual appearance of the receptive silks of th the female ear at a lateral bud, normally at the 10 leaf [I]. Earlier studies examined the ontogeny of the growing tissues beginning with the embryo in the kernel through to the obvious protuberances of the growing point as the kernel germinates. The differentiated developing soon-to-become tassel and the lateral bulges that develop into the ears on the lateral buds become apparent very early in the germinating kernel [2, 3, 46]. A certain number of cells are destined for tassel and ear development [8]. As the plant develops, there is a phase transition [\3, 16] from the vegetative lateral buds to the reproductive lateral buds. This change in phase has been ascribed to genotypic control as evidenced in the differences among different genotypes in the initiation of the reproductive [I]. The genetic control of tassel and ear initiation has been gleaned from anatomical observations. Lejeune and Bernier [I2] found that maize plants terminate the initiation of additional axillary meristems at the time of tassel initiation. This would indicate that the top-most ear shoot is initiated on the same day as the initiation of tassel development and this event signals the end of the undifferentiated growing point.

Download or read book North American Pinot Noir written by John Winthrop Haeger and published by Univ of California Press. This book was released on 2004-09-14 with total page 472 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Pinot noir, the famously elegant, sexy, and capricious red grape of Burgundy, is finally producing impressive wines in North America. Credit talented winemakers, enthusiastic restaurateurs, and consumers in search of alternatives to cabernet and zinfandel. Considered perhaps the ultimate food wine, pinot noir has an allure based on its special combination of aromas, flavors, and mouthfeel; on its legendary capacity to reflect the terroir where it is grown; and on its reputation for being hard to grow and make. This is the definitive work on pinot noir in North America. A comprehensive reference for winemakers and aficionados as well as a sourcebook for casual enthusiasts, it includes extensive historical and viticultural background on pinot noir in the New World and profiles of six dozen prominent producers in California, Oregon, British Columbia, and New York. John Winthrop Haeger, known for his perceptive wine writing for more than fifteen years, gives contextual and comparative information about pinot noir in Burgundy and then tells the story of wine producers' early failures, frustrations, and breakthroughs in North America. He discusses plant genetics and clones, identifies the essential conditions for really good pinot, tells where the best wines are grown and made, and analyzes the factors that determine wine styles and signatures. In the second part of the book, he presents detailed producer profiles with accessibly written tasting notes on recent and mature vintages. A final section covers glassware, vintages, wine and food pairings, and other matters of interest to consumers. Maps prepared especially for this book cover all the major pinot-producing regions in North America.

Book Data Storage for Social Networks

Download or read book Data Storage for Social Networks written by Duc A. Tran and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2012-08-15 with total page 53 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Evidenced by the success of Facebook, Twitter, and LinkedIn, online social networks (OSNs) have become ubiquitous, offering novel ways for people to access information and communicate with each other. As the increasing popularity of social networking is undeniable, scalability is an important issue for any OSN that wants to serve a large number of users. Storing user data for the entire network on a single server can quickly lead to a bottleneck, and, consequently, more servers are needed to expand storage capacity and lower data request traffic per server. Adding more servers is just one step to address scalability. The next step is to determine how best to store the data across multiple servers. This problem has been widely-studied in the literature of distributed and database systems. OSNs, however, represent a different class of data systems. When a user spends time on a social network, the data mostly requested is her own and that of her friends; e.g., in Facebook or Twitter, these data are the status updates posted by herself as well as that posted by the friends. This so-called social locality should be taken into account when determining the server locations to store these data, so that when a user issues a read request, all its relevant data can be returned quickly and efficiently. Social locality is not a design factor in traditional storage systems where data requests are always processed independently. Even for today’s OSNs, social locality is not yet considered in their data partition schemes. These schemes rely on distributed hash tables (DHT), using consistent hashing to assign the users’ data to the servers. The random nature of DHT leads to weak social locality which has been shown to result in poor performance under heavy request loads. Data Storage for Social Networks: A Socially Aware Approach is aimed at reviewing the current literature of data storage for online social networks and discussing new methods that take into account social awareness in designing efficient data storage.

Book Halophytes as a resource for livestock and for rehabilitation of degraded lands

Download or read book Halophytes as a resource for livestock and for rehabilitation of degraded lands written by V. Squires and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2012-12-06 with total page 318 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Desertification (land degradation in arid, semi-arid and dry sub-humid areas resulting mainly from adverse human impacts) is the main environmental problem of dry lands, which occupy more than 40 per cent of the total global land area. The phenomenon threatens about 3.6 billion hectares and currently affects the livelihood of about 900 million people. Thl! world is now losing annually about 1.5 million hectares of total irrigated lands (240 million hectares) due mostly to salinization, mainly in drylands. Salt affected soils are widely distributed throughout the arid and semi-arid regions, and particularly severe in China (7 million ha), India (20 million ha), Pakistan (3.2 million ha), USA (5.2 million ha), as well as Near East, southern Europe and elsewhere. Demands on production have increased the pressure on existing productive land and moved the limits of production onto increasingly marginal lands. Wise land-use practices have yet to be developed for such conditions. The Executive Director of UNEP reported to the Governing Council in February 1992 concerning the "Status of Desertification and Implementation of the United Nations Plan of Action to Comtat Desertification (PACD)". The Report concludes that major efforts to implement the PACD had gJne into supporting measures rather than concrete corrective field operations. Little evidence of progrl!ss was found in irrigated croplands, rainfed croplands or rangelands. It was recommended that every piece of land should be used in keeping with its ecological characteristics, natural capabilities and constraints.

Book Metabolic and Bioprocess Engineering of Production Cell Lines for Recombinant Protein Production

Download or read book Metabolic and Bioprocess Engineering of Production Cell Lines for Recombinant Protein Production written by Betina da Silva Ribeiro and published by Logos Verlag Berlin GmbH. This book was released on 2012 with total page 159 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Dissolved carbon dioxide has been identified as an important process parameter affecting cell growth, productivity and product quality (e.g. glycosylation) of recombinant proteins when exceeding critical levels, occurring especially in industrial large-scale cell culture processes due to the increased hydrostatic pressure. As CO2 can easily pass the cellular membrane and thereby influence intracellular pH, important cellular processes (e.g. cell cycle regulation, enzymes of TCA cycle) are directly influenced by pCO2 and dependent bicarbonate concentration. Consequently, process control strategies attend to keep pCO2 within physiological range. In a metabolic engineering approach an antibody producing CHO cell line stably expressing human carbonic anhydrase (hCAII), the enzyme that catalyzes the equilibrium of CO2 in aqueous solutions, was generated and used to characterize CO2 effects in simulated CO2 acid load and high CO2 levels as they occur in large scale mammalian cell culture. The cell line expressing active hCAII showed more rapid initial re-alkalinization of cytoplasm after induced CO2 acid load.

Book Rapid Detection and Identification of Infectious Agents

Download or read book Rapid Detection and Identification of Infectious Agents written by David Kingsbury and published by Elsevier. This book was released on 2012-12-02 with total page 309 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Rapid Detection and Identification of Infectious Agents is a collection of papers presented at the International Symposium on Rapid Detection and Identification of Infectious Agents held on October 5-7, 1983, in Oakland, California, and organized by the Naval Biosciences Laboratory of the School of Public Health of the University of California at Berkeley. Contributors examine progress in the field of rapid diagnosis of infectious diseases, with a particular emphasis on DNA probe-based assays and monoclonal and polyclonal antibody-based immunoassays. This volume is organized into five sections encompassing 20 chapters. It begins with an overview of state-of-the-art methods for rapid detection and identification of infectious agents, including technology that is currently applied in clinical microbiology, as well as concerns regarding the political and scientific climates, which have an impact on health care and clinical microbiology. Chapters are organized to deal with a single diagnostic type of test for a given broad group of organisms. The approach is to compare the strengths and weaknesses of each of the new diagnostic procedures, using the same type of clinical material whenever possible. The book gives consideration to the fundamental design of DNA probes and probe assay systems, the clinical comparison of immunologic assays for the diagnosis of meningococcal disease, and immunodiagnostics for viral and parasitic pathogens. This book will be of value to scientists and researchers interested in immunology and infectious diseases, as well as the methods used to detect and identify them.
