Download or read book CT Coronary Angiography written by Filippo Cademartiri and published by Clinical Pub. This book was released on 2010-12-23 with total page 0 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Computed tomography (CT) is seen increasingly to play a pivotal role in cardiovascular imaging, although a relatively new imaging technique compared to traditional methods of angiography. The flexibility, availability and clinical robustness of CT allows a comprehensive assessment of the patient's vasculature that can be matched only by more risky invasive procedures. The concept applies to all vascular regions of the human body, but, in particular, cardiac CT angiography is viewed as the potential modality of choice for primary cardiovascular risk stratification. This book presents the reader with a thorough grounding in the basics of cardiac CT, with particular reference to coronary artery disease. It is primarily a practical guide, reviewing basic techniques, optimization, data handling and reporting. The atlas is grounded firmly in a clinical context, comprehensively illustrated throughout and using detailed case studies to demonstrate the role of cardiac CT in a wide variety of clinical settings. This atlas is an essential reference for the hospital radiology department and for the trainee.

Book Coronary Computed Tomography Angiography in Coronary Artery Disease

This book was released on 2013 with total page 0 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Coronary artery disease is the leading cause of death in the developed countries of the world and it is becoming increasingly common in the developing world. Conventional invasive coronary angiography currently remains the gold standard for the evaluation of patients with known or suspected coronary artery disease. Limitations of the modality include its invasiveness, expense and time consumption, with small but substantial procedure-related complications. In recent years, systematic reviews and meta-analyses of the diagnostic value of coronary CT angiography are increasingly being used to measure the progress and innovations in the diagnostic management of patients with suspected coronary artery disease. This book provides an overview of the scientific methods used to search, analyse, appraise and synthesize studies on coronary CT angiography.

Book Coronary Angiography

    Book Details:
  • Author : Baskot Branislav
  • Publisher : BoD – Books on Demand
  • Release : 2011-09-15
  • ISBN : 9533076755
  • Pages : 430 pages

Download or read book Coronary Angiography written by Baskot Branislav and published by BoD – Books on Demand. This book was released on 2011-09-15 with total page 430 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In the intervening 10 years tremendous advances in the field of cardiac computed tomography have occurred. We now can legitimately claim that computed tomography angiography (CTA) of the coronary arteries is available. In the evaluation of patients with suspected coronary artery disease (CAD), many guidelines today consider CTA an alternative to stress testing. The use of CTA in primary prevention patients is more controversial in considering diagnostic test interpretation in populations with a low prevalence to disease. However the nuclear technique most frequently used by cardiologists is myocardial perfusion imaging (MPI). The combination of a nuclear camera with CTA allows for the attainment of coronary anatomic, cardiac function and MPI from one piece of equipment. PET/SPECT cameras can now assess perfusion, function, and metabolism. Assessing cardiac viability is now fairly routine with these enhancements to cardiac imaging. This issue is full of important information that every cardiologist needs to now.

Book Vascular CT Angiography Manual

Download or read book Vascular CT Angiography Manual written by Robert Pelberg and published by Springer. This book was released on 2010-11-09 with total page 377 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Despite the exponential growth in the use of peripheral CTA in the diagnosis and follow-up of vascular disease patients, practical sources from which to gain valuable expertise in this field remain scarce. There is becoming a great need for experts in the field of peripheral CTA, yet learning this imaging modality may be intimidating and time consuming. Very few if any, small, concise and portable books exist to ease training in this field and current books in this field are overwhelming, difficult to manage, text books that often combine CTA and MRI. A so called " how to manual" and reference guide to explain this technique from beginning to end, which compiles valuable, and difficult to obtain clinical pearls and descriptions of disease processes will be of tremendous value. The Peripheral CT Angiography Manual aims to make learning this intimidating technique and the diseases for which it applies simple and fun.

Book Hybrid Cardiac Imaging for Clinical Decision Making

Download or read book Hybrid Cardiac Imaging for Clinical Decision Making written by Francesco Nudi and published by Springer Nature. This book was released on 2022-08-18 with total page 240 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Performing any diagnostic test in medicine is always a matter of trying to get the condition of the patient diagnosed properly with the least effort, exposure, discomfort and at the same time with the lowest possible error probability. Pre-test probability is helpful but often imprecise, effectively overestimating the patient's risk profile. In a broader prevention objective, the phases of a disease, its onset, progression, and complications must be taken into account. The negative predictive value, which is so important, has in turn its main limitation in identifying the healthy patient, that is, the one who does not belong to any cluster of patients in which we would act in terms of prevention. In coronary syndromes, the goal is instead to evaluate coronary heart disease, from mild to more extensive and significant forms. For this purpose, it is necessary to use parameters that investigate different and complementary aspects: stenosis, ischemia, the morphology of the atherosclerotic plaque, metabolic processes, in particular vitality and apoptosis, the presence of inflammatory processes. The possibility, already present thanks to Hybrid Imaging, of 'joining’ exams that study different aspects, will allow the patient to be increasingly characterized not only from a diagnostic point of view but also from a prognostic and personalized therapeutic choice.
