Book Informal Sector Innovations

Download or read book Informal Sector Innovations written by Mammo Muchie and published by Routledge. This book was released on 2017-10-02 with total page 179 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: It is well documented that the space of informal economic activity is rising across the globe. This rise has been particularly significant in the least developed and developing countries, especially after the onset of neo-liberal policies and withdrawal of welfare state. There has also been a shift in academic thinking on informal sector, with attempts being made to understand the contribution of informal sector in generating employment and economic growth rather than focusing solely on exploitative labour conditions in these economic activities. Indeed, with the retreat of welfare state and the introduction of contract labour in the formal sector, many issues related to occupational hazards and improper labour conditions do not remain unique to the informal sectors of the economy, particularly in less developed countries. This volume addresses a specific concern: the issue of knowledge generation and innovative activities, which lies at the core of sustained competitive advantage of these activities. The chapters in this book were originally published in the African Journal of Science Technology Innovation and Development.

Book The Triple Helix

Download or read book The Triple Helix written by Henry Etzkowitz and published by Routledge. This book was released on 2008-02-05 with total page 177 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A Triple Helix of university-industry-government interactions is the key to innovation in increasingly knowledge-based societies. As the creation, dissemination, and utilization of knowledge moves from the periphery to the center of industrial production and governance, the concept of innovation, in product and process, is itself being transformed. In its place is a new sense of 'innovation in innovation' - the restructuring and enhancement of the organizational arrangements and incentives that foster innovation. This triple helix intersection of relatively independent institutional spheres generates hybrid organizations such as technology transfer offices in universities, firms, and government research labs and business and financial support institutions such as angel networks and venture capital for new technology-based firms that are increasingly developing around the world. The Triple Helix describes this new innovation model and assists students, researchers, and policymakers in addressing such questions as: How do we enhance the role of universities in regional economic and social development? How can governments, at all levels, encourage citizens to take an active role in promoting innovation in innovation and, conversely, how can citizens so encourage their governments? How can firms collaborate with each other and with universities and government to become more innovative? What are the key elements and challenges to reaching these goals?

Book Analyzing the Relationship Between Innovation Value Creation and Entrepreneurship

Download or read book Analyzing the Relationship Between Innovation Value Creation and Entrepreneurship written by Galindo-Martín, Miguel-Ángel and published by IGI Global. This book was released on 2019-12-13 with total page 374 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Innovation stimulates and facilitates entrepreneurship because the highest levels of entrepreneurship are to be found in societies with the highest value creation and digital dividends. The higher levels of consumption, employment, and cost reduction generated by the implementation of digital technologies motivates entrepreneurs to expand their activity and promotes the emergence of new entrepreneurs. Positive outcomes can be generated by the implementation of innovation leaders to higher competition and new markets, incentivizing entrepreneurs to introduce new innovations to react to these higher levels of competition, which are accompanied by their corresponding value creation. Analyzing the Relationship Between Innovation, Value Creation, and Entrepreneurship is a pivotal reference source that analyzes the theoretical and empirical aspects of innovation as a factor that enhances value creation and the role of entrepreneurship. While highlighting topics such as data management, social enterprise, and digital marketing, this publication explores enhanced economic growth and the methods of higher levels of consumption in society. This book is ideally designed for corporate managers, business executives, academicians, students, and researchers seeking current research on interrelationships between financial variables, strategies to apply them at the micro- and macro-level, and a consideration of the fiscal effects once implemented.
