Book Novel Biomarkers in Alzheimer rsquo s Disease

Download or read book Novel Biomarkers in Alzheimer rsquo s Disease written by Chiara Villa and published by MDPI. This book was released on 2021-02-05 with total page 442 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Alzheimer’s disease (AD) represents the most common form of dementia in the elderly population worldwide. AD is characterized by progressive neurodegeneration that leads to a gradual deterioration of memory and other cognitive functions. Given the global prevalence and impact of AD, there is a critical need to establish biomarkers that can be used to detect AD in individuals before the onset of clinical signs and provide mitigating therapeutics. The aim of this Special Issue is to discuss the current knowledge as well as future perspectives on the role of biomarkers in the screening, diagnosis, treatment and follow-up of AD.

Book The Alzheimer s Disease Challenge Volume II

Download or read book The Alzheimer s Disease Challenge Volume II written by Mohammad Amjad Kamal and published by Frontiers Media SA. This book was released on 2024-04-15 with total page 202 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Given the success of Volume I of this Research Topic, we are pleased to announce the launch of Volume II: “The Alzheimer's Disease Challenge”. The repeated failure of clinical trials on the amyloid-based medications and the pessimistic calculations of Alzheimer's disease cost burden for the next few decades present a severe challenge to humankind with severe social implications. In recent years, several alternative diagnostic and treatment procedures have been presented to treat and manage Alzheimer’s disease as it has been nearly impossible to suggest a holistic solution. Several revelations in human biology have highlighted the multiparametric character of the disease. Besides the amyloid aggregation and neurofibrillary tangles that result in Aβ toxicity and tau phosphorylation, processes such as Gene Mutations, Proteins Misfolding, Brain Biochemical and Histopathological Changes, Behavioral Changes, Nutrition and Metabolism Alterations, and Autonomic Dysfunctions due to Central Nervous System dysregulations are common signs and probably early diagnostic biomarkers in most of the Alzheimer's classification categories.

Book Precision Medicine in Gastrointestinal Cancers

Download or read book Precision Medicine in Gastrointestinal Cancers written by Afsaneh Barzi and published by Frontiers Media SA. This book was released on 2023-09-01 with total page 293 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Precision medicine is the main emphasis in healthcare after recognizing the importance to integrate the clinical data with the molecular data of a specific disease. The term was first introduced in 2015 in which the Precision Medicine Initiative was initiated with the final aim to provide targeted therapy with high efficacy and less toxicity. Precision medicine plays an increasingly important in gastrointestinal cancers. Gastrointestinal cancers are divided into the upper (esophagus, stomach) and lower part (hepatobiliary and colon) of the gastrointestinal system. We would like to explore the latest era of integrative therapeutic target in gastrointestinal cancers taking into consideration of various aetiologies including genetic and exposome (dietary factors, microbial, hormonal, environmental insults) and their interactions with the host microenvironment.

Book The Detection of Biomarkers

Download or read book The Detection of Biomarkers written by Sibel A. Ozkan and published by Academic Press. This book was released on 2021-12-05 with total page 615 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Reliable, precise and accurate detection and analysis of biomarkers remains a significant challenge for clinical researchers. Methods for the detection of biomarkers are rather complex, requiring pre-treatment steps before analysis can take place. Moreover, comparing various biomarker assays and tracing research progress in this area systematically is a challenge for researchers. The Detection of Biomarkers presents developments in biomarker detection, including methods tools and strategies, biosensor design, materials, and applications. The book presents methods, materials and procedures that are simple, precise, sensitive, selective, fast and economical, and therefore highly practical for use in clinical research scenarios. This volume situates biomarker detection in its research context and sets out future prospects for the area. Its 20 chapters offer a comprehensive coverage of biomarkers, including progress on nanotechnology, biosensor types, synthesis, immobilization, and applications in various fields. The book also demonstrates, for students, how to synthesize and immobilize biosensors for biomarker assay. It offers researchers real alternative and innovative ways to think about the field of biomarker detection, increasing the reliability, precision and accuracy of biomarker detection. - Locates biomarker detection in its research context, setting out present and future prospects - Allows clinical researchers to compare various biomarker assays systematically - Presents new methods, materials and procedures that are simple, precise, sensitive, selective, fast and economical - Gives innovative biomarker assays that are viable alternatives to current complex methods - Helps clinical researchers who need reliable, precise and accurate biomarker detection methods
