R. 9837 Each surviving officer who shall receive retired pay under this act shall thereby relinquish all his right and claim to pension from the United States after the date of the passage of this act, and any payment of such pension made to him covering a period subsequent to the passage of this act shall be deducted from the amount due him on the first payment or payments under this act. The retired pay allowed under this act shall not be subject or liable to any attachment, levy, lien, or detention under any process whatsoever; and persons whose names are placed upon said list shall not constitute any part of the United States Army, Navy, or Marine Corps.
