Book Civil Use of Night Vision Devices

Download or read book Civil Use of Night Vision Devices written by and published by . This book was released on 1994 with total page 61 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This document was developed to aid in the evaluation of the use of night vision goggles (NVG's) by civil helicopter pilots. This report was used to prepare pilots to participate in the flight test program. The principal task was to determine if there are any unresolved safety issues that would preclude pilot use of NVG's during helicopter operations under Federal Aviation Regulations Parts 91 or 135. Certainly NVG's can enable a pilot to 'see better' at night and to accomplish certain flight objectives. However, the question is, is safety degraded during any phase of the flight operation if pilots use these devices. Even if the use of NVG's dramatically improves operational effectiveness, current safety margins must be maintained or improved during all phases of flight. This report is one of three documents that were developed for evaluating the use of night vision goggles (NVG's) by EMS helicopter pilots.

Book Night Vision Goggles NVG Compatible Lighting for Civil Aircraft

Download or read book Night Vision Goggles NVG Compatible Lighting for Civil Aircraft written by A-20A Crew Station Lighting and published by . This book was released on 2014 with total page 0 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This SAE Aerospace Standard (AS) will specify what type night vision goggles are required, minimum requirements for compatible crew station lighting, aircraft exterior lighting such as anticollision lights and position/navigation lights that are "NVG compatible." Also, this document is intended to set standards for NVG utilization for aircraft so that special use aircraft such as the Coast Guard, Border Patrol, Air Rescue, Police Department, Medivacs, etc., will be better equipped to chase drug smugglers and catch illegal immigrants, rescue people in distress, reduce high-speed chases through city streets by police, etc. Test programs and pilot operator programs are required. For those people designing or modifying civil aircraft to be NVG compatible, the documents listed in 2.1.3 are essential. This document is being revised for the references for the Code of Federal Regulations (CFRs) to be corrected to Part 14 Code of Federal Regulations (14 CFRs). Added FAR requirements to reference section and allowance on non-GEN III goggle use.
