Book Understanding Digital Electronics

Download or read book Understanding Digital Electronics written by R. H. Warring and published by James Clarke & Co.. This book was released on 1982 with total page 172 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Don't be left behind by modern developments in digital electronics! They present a fascinating new world of achievement which can be easy to understand, if you start at the beginning. Everyone is familiar with digital displays on watches and clocks and calculators, for example. Each number is formed from seven rectangular 'light bulbs', with the correct number of bulbs switched on by a digital circuit to light up the number required. Digital electronics, in fact, is based on devices which work on an on/off basis, or 'count' in steps of 1 (i.e., in 'digits'). The basic devices are quite simple, but when interconnected with tens, hundreds or even thousands of similar devices can perform a fantastic range of calculations, store and give out information, solve problems etc., all at fantastic speed. It is the number and complexity of interconnections of such devices that can be bewildering - not how the actual devices work. Their working can be studied in three different ways. Mechanical equivalents in terms of switches and symbols (called block logic), which anyone can understand because you can 'see' how it works. Truth tables which display all possible conditions of a digital device, from which you choose the one you want, e.g., the ten possible states of a digital number display. Binary arithmetic for working out solutions mathematically. Plus, of course, the basic digital circuits involved which provide all the functions required. How digital electronics works, with clear line drawings to illustrate circuits and their applications, is what this book is all about. It starts from first principles and works right through to 'talking' to computers. The author has considerable experience in the field of practical electronics and is noted for his ability to explain technicalities in language that is easy to understand.

Book Design of Digital Systems and Devices

Download or read book Design of Digital Systems and Devices written by Marian Adamski and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2011-02-04 with total page 372 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Logic design of digital devices is a very important part of the Computer Science. It deals with design and testing of logic circuits for both data-path and control unit of a digital system. Design methods depend strongly on logic elements using for implementation of logic circuits. Different programmable logic devices are wide used for implementation of logic circuits. Nowadays, we witness the rapid growth of new and new chips, but there is a strong lack of new design methods. This book includes a variety of design and test methods targeted on different digital devices. It covers methods of digital system design, the development of theoretical base for construction and designing of the PLD–based devices, application of UML for digital design. A considerable part of the book is devoted to design methods oriented on implementing control units using FPGA and CPLD chips. Such important issues as design of reliable FSMs, automatic design of concurrent logic controllers, the models and methods for creating infrastructure IP services for the SoCs are also presented. The editors of the book hope that it will be interesting and useful for experts in Computer Science and Electronics, as well as for students, who are viewed as designers of future digital devices and systems.

Book Foundations of Analog and Digital Electronic Circuits

Download or read book Foundations of Analog and Digital Electronic Circuits written by Anant Agarwal and published by Elsevier. This book was released on 2005-07-01 with total page 1009 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Unlike books currently on the market, this book attempts to satisfy two goals: combine circuits and electronics into a single, unified treatment, and establish a strong connection with the contemporary world of digital systems. It will introduce a new way of looking not only at the treatment of circuits, but also at the treatment of introductory coursework in engineering in general. Using the concept of ''abstraction,'' the book attempts to form a bridge between the world of physics and the world of large computer systems. In particular, it attempts to unify electrical engineering and computer science as the art of creating and exploiting successive abstractions to manage the complexity of building useful electrical systems. Computer systems are simply one type of electrical systems. +Balances circuits theory with practical digital electronics applications.+Illustrates concepts with real devices.+Supports the popular circuits and electronics course on the MIT OpenCourse Ware from which professionals worldwide study this new approach.+Written by two educators well known for their innovative teaching and research and their collaboration with industry.+Focuses on contemporary MOS technology.

Book Digital Electronics with Arduino

Download or read book Digital Electronics with Arduino written by Bob Dukish and published by BPB Publications. This book was released on 2020-04-14 with total page 214 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A great way for technicians to learn about digital techniques and computers DESCRIPTION As computer technology has evolved, there have been two groups of people: the hardware group that understands the machine, and the software group that codes in high-level programming languages. This book puts the two together by providing an understanding of the nuts and bolts of digital devices and implementing hardware operations by coding a microController. We use the Arduino microController, which is embraced by the world-wide maker community of well over 300,000 people of all ages and technical backgrounds. The projects start at ground level and scaffold upward to fun challenges. Ê We begin with a background on digital circuitry and cover the operation of the Arduino microController. From there, we examine digital logic gates, which are the building blocks of computer hardware, and see how they make decisions. Next, we explore how digital devices work with numbers and do arithmetic along with how they count binary numbers. We also see how data moves between points in serial or parallel form as we build and test the circuitry to do the work. The topic of random number generation is explained, and we design a few simple computer games to see how this all works and have some fun. The book leads up to the reader producing a final capstone project. The format of the book is perfect for a digital electronics high school or college course, but easy enough to follow so that anyone with a basic background in DC circuits will have an enjoyable time with the many projects. Book Digital Equipment Corporation

Download or read book Digital Equipment Corporation written by Alan R. Earls and published by Arcadia Publishing. This book was released on 2004 with total page 132 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: From its inception in 1957, Digital Equipment Corporation (DEC), headquartered in Maynard, Massachusetts, carved itself a role in American business unlike any other company. Launched by Massachusetts Institute of Technology engineer Ken Olsen with a $70,000 investment from the country's first venture capital firm, DEC rapidly became a pioneer in computer technology. In its heyday, DEC had a valuation of more than $12 billion and employed approximately one hundred twenty thousand people worldwide, making it second only to IBM. Its people and technology contributed to making computers increasingly affordable, which led directly to the advent of the personal computer, the first computer games, and computer networks. DEC was also a leader in the Internet revolution, claiming the dubious distinction of launching the first spam mailing and registering one of the first commercial domain names. Through photographs of people, events, and machines, Digital Equipment Corporation tells the story of the unassuming computer revolutionaries who reshaped the technological world. It is written for anyone who is interested in how the present era of computing ubiquity has evolved since the 1940s, when IBM chairman Thomas Watson predicted that the whole world might need no more than five computers.
