Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: According to UNESCO, it is believed that at least half of the nearly 7,000 languages spoken around the world will cease to be used within the next 100 years. If this issue is neglected, people will lose not only their cultural heritage but also invaluable understandings about the history of all humankind. Endangered Languages of the Caucasus and Beyond includes the manuscripts of 19 papers that were presented at the 1st International CUA Conference on Endangered Languages, organized by the Caucasus University Association (CUA), at Ardahan, Turkey, on 13 to 16 October 2014. The articles address issues such as the state of the field of documentation, conservation and revitalization of endangered languages with special reference to the endangered languages in the Caucasus region and beyond.

Download or read book The Lost Book The Unknown Story of Ramayana and Nart Wezirmes written by SELÇUK BAĞLAR and published by SELÇUK BAĞLAR. This book was released on 2022-10-13 with total page 75 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: I have been working on Circassian Mythology of Narts for a long time. As a result of these studies, which started about fifteen years ago, some questions arose in my mind about the Circassian Mythology of Narts. One of them is how many themes in the Circassian Mythology of Narts are universal and have not been noticed until today. However, it is very clear that many themes in the Circassian Mythology of Narts are universal. At least most of them are certainly not regional. Undoubtedly, the themes related to Nart Wezırmes are at the forefront of such universal ones. I am amazed that it has not been noticed until today that the narratives of the character Rama in the Indian epic Ramayana and the hero named Nart Wezırmes in the Circassian Mythology of Narts are actually texts based on the same story. In the same way, the thematic similarities between Nart Wezırmes and Egyptian Osiris have not been noticed until now, which intrigues me. I dealt with this subject in my book, titled The Ancient Secret of Circassian and Egyptian Mythologies, From Narts to Neters.
Download or read book Antipassive written by Katarzyna Janic and published by John Benjamins Publishing Company. This book was released on 2021-03-15 with total page 655 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book provides a comprehensive treatment of the morpho-syntactic and semantic aspects of the antipassive construction from synchronic, diachronic, and typological perspectives. The nineteen contributions assembled in this volume address a wide range of aspects pertinent to the antipassive construction, such as lexical semantics, the properties of the antipassive markers, as well as the issue of fuzzy boundaries between the antipassive construction and a range of other formally and functionally similar constructions in genealogically and areally diverse languages. Purely synchronically oriented case studies are supplemented by contributions that shed light on the diachronic development of the antipassive construction and the antipassive markers. The book should be of central interest to many scholars, in particular to those working in the field of language typology, semantics, syntax, and historical linguists, as well as to specialists of the language families discussed in the individual contributions.

Book excerpt: Many Circassian people have been living in diaspora for more than 150 years. They were forcefully driven out of their homeland by a combination of military and political methods. In this book, author Adel Bashqawi explains the origins, details and outcomes of the Russian-Circassian war and how it was directly responsible for the current situation of Circassians. He discusses the crimes and human rights violations committed against Circassians. The author sheds light on the evolution of the political situation of Circassians in the homeland and in diaspora until the current day, including the various Circassian political bodies. The author also deals with the issue of the Circassian identity and possible legal methods that Circassians can utilize to regain their rights. Download or read book The Circassian Miracle the Nation Neither Tsars nor Commissars nor Russia Could Stop written by Adel Bashqawi and published by Xlibris Corporation. This book was released on 2019-12-11 with total page 701 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This work is dedicated to Circassia, the historical homeland of the Circassians, who inspired and encouraged emerging generations to maintain the torch of freedom and to lead the way, despite all obstacles and attempts of exclusion that have been tested over the years. Since the subjugation of their homeland, the Circassians were subjected to harsh conditions in all walks of life, which wasn’t easy to withstand and get through. This meant a dictatorial, savage, direct military and security jurisdiction, and domination for the duration of both tyrant tsarist imperial and Soviet/Communist eras. From the beginning of the 1990s on, the general situation has been quite different concerning the circumstances that the Circassian affairs have been clutched to. After decades of being forgotten, the people of the Caucasus region and the world at large have started to become enlightened with information that was prevented and blocked from the public. Even the historians, specialists, and academicians were not in the picture of the pain, destiny, and suffering that the Circassian nation was inflicted with for decades, specifically since the occupation and deportation of 1864.

Download or read book Minorities and State Building in the Middle East written by Paolo Maggiolini and published by Springer Nature. This book was released on 2020-10-19 with total page 295 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book offers fresh insights to enhance and diversify our understanding of the modern history of the state and societies in today’s Jordan, while also providing examples of why and how scholars can challenge the static and discursively government-minded approaches to minorities and minoritisation – especially the traditional emphasis on demographic balances. Despite its small size and initial appearance of homogeneity, Jordan provides an excellent case of a dynamic, relational, historically contingent and fluid approach to ethnic, political and religious minorities in the context of the imposition of a modern state system on complex and varied traditional societies. The editors and contributors present dynamic and relational perspectives on the status of and historical processes involved in the creation and absorption of minority groups within Jordan.
