Download or read book Baran and Dawber s Diseases of the Nails and their Management written by Robert Baran and published by John Wiley & Sons. This book was released on 2008-04-30 with total page 656 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This new edition brings together five leading authorities in nail surgery in this well established and definitive textbook. The entire text is extended in this edition, and particular emphasis is placed on the advances in treatments that have taken place in recent years. Considerable strides have been made in the treatment of fungal diseases (onychomycoses) with the appearance of new therapeutic agents. There is also much greater coverage of nail surgery to reflect the increasing involvement of the dermatologist in this field. The section on nail tumours has also been expanded. Drs Baran and Dawber have been joined by David de Berker, Eckhart Haneke and Antonella Tosti on the editorial team. This move is representative of the major European contribution to the field of nail surgery in recent years. Significant contribution has come from Dr Elvin Zook, the eminent American hand surgeon, who has helped to ensure that the book is as relevant in North America as it is in Europe.

Book The Historical Development of Energetics

Download or read book The Historical Development of Energetics written by Georg Helm and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2013-12-01 with total page 419 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Although produced in controversy, this book is not a controversial work. The calming effects of the years that have passed since the tumultuous days in Lubeck are enough to guarantee that these pages will accurately trace the coming and going of opinions, the battle for the truth and the recognition of error. In only a few passages, especially in Part Six, will one be able to tell from the tone of the book that it comes out of this struggle. For these I ask the indulgence of my reader, since they contain explanations the extent of which probably does not correspond either to the difficulty of the questions treated or to their influence. But in such passages the extent of treatment could not - as was otherwise the case - be made to depend solely on a judgment as to the value and significance of the investigations presented. There considerations of defense, more than concern for symmetry, had to determine the structure.

Download or read book Upholstery Conservation Principles and Practice written by Dinah Eastop and published by Routledge. This book was released on 2012-09-10 with total page 232 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This well referenced book provides an amply illustrated publication on upholstery conservation which discusses and reviews the issues related to the care, interpretation and treatment of upholstered furniture. Through many well illustrated case studies the inter-disciplinary collaboration fundamental to upholstery conservation, and the complex decision-making process involved in the treatment of upholstered furniture, are made evident. The case histories are contributed by leading international practitioners in the field and concern objects and collections in the care of English Heritage, the Victoria and Albert Museum, the Metropolitan Museum of Art and other internationally renowned institutions. Likewise, the contributors, from both sides of the Atlantic, are world-renowned specialists and leaders in this area of conservation working for the public and private sectors. The case histories, illustrated in colour, black and white and specially prepared line drawings, concern object treatment and documentation, the conservation of information, the function and the artefact. They range from the documentation of eighteenth century removable chair covers and the treatment of a nineteenth century carriage to a twentieth century foam-filled chair belonging to a museum.

Book Historic Nail Development and Morphology as a way of developing dating methods Christopher Ian How D cembre 2020

Download or read book Historic Nail Development and Morphology as a way of developing dating methods Christopher Ian How D cembre 2020 written by Christopher Ian How and published by Presses universitaires de Louvain. This book was released on 2022-04-07 with total page 492 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This thesis is about finding, identifying, and then using, changes in nails as a forensic method to date buildings, extensions to buildings, repairs, and later insertions. The thesis traces the historical development of European/Western nails, isolating the three main world nail industries and their export markets. It then provides case studies for British and Australian nails. Using a process of synthesis, it builds sets of dating charts by decade, of direct use to researchers in the field and to all those interested in datig aspects of heritage buildings. The thesis makes a series of conclusions, primary of wich are; • The morphologies of Western nails emanate from Roman enforced practices • The Liège nail industry was the first and foremost world player • Developments of an English nail industry sprung from invention and from transport solutions • The American cut nail industry was enabled by their early switch to softwood framing in the building industry, and by massive, sustained, population growth • The system of dating developed by the thesis was found to work best for decades starting in 1830, but it loses accuracy after 1890. Recommendations are made for future studies based around information found during the research.
