Book The Church Boy Chronicles

Download or read book The Church Boy Chronicles written by James E. Lewis, Jr. and published by . This book was released on 2013-06-27 with total page 200 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Have you ever had questions that you needed answers to? Questions like, why am I serving God with the many struggles that I have in my life. Have you ever been tired of church, feeling as if you were going through the motions knowing in your heart that you needed more? These are some of the same questions that the author needed answers to while on his journey as a Christian. The Church Boy Chronicles is a series of events that happened in Mr. Lewis's 8 year journey as a Christian. This book is not only a part of his life; it is an inspirational book and a self-check guide also. The Church Boy Chronicles are the test, trials, and studies that Mr. Lewis encountered throughout his Christian journey. Some of these experiences should have caused him to lose the balance of his mind and his salvation. This book is filled with many issues and questions that we face throughout our lives each day as Christians. On these pages are some of Mr. Lewis's deepest thoughts on many different topics. By being transparent, he gives each life changing moment he went through a Godly outlook and application to them. The goal of this book is to give hope to those that have been through similar situations in their lives. Therefore at the end of each chapter are self-check questions that will help many examine themselves just as he had to do. I pray that each one of you would look at your test and trial from a spiritual perspective and not fall for the traps that are set out to destroy us. Walk in your ministry and your calling that God placed in you. God Bless you all.

Book excerpt: "So Far from God" is the story of a recent journey that began in Spain and took Patrick Marnham from California through the ruined countries to the south where the word 'America’ was first used. Marnham set out to visit those small countries that lie between them and Mexico -- Guatemala, El Salvador, Honduras, and Nicaragua -- where all the trouble occurs. With humor, compassion, and a mercilessly clear eye he portrays the people and predicaments he encountered on a fascinating and frequently dangerous journey. Marnham’s adventures are judiciously and eloquently seasoned with up-to-the-minute politics and historical background. "So Far from God" is a shrewd and provocative view of the political culture of Central Americans -- and of their fearful yearning attitude toward their northern neighbor. -- From publisher's description.

Book Chronicles of Transformation

Download or read book Chronicles of Transformation written by Leonard J. DeLorenzo and published by Ignatius Press. This book was released on 2022-07-01 with total page 241 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In a world grown cold without wonder, how do we reimagine the drama and joy of Christianity? For C. S. Lewis, the answer was to invite us into Narnia, a new world that would help us see our own with fresh, healed eyes. Even now, it is not too late to go there. When Lewis wrote his Chronicles of Narnia, he laid out a land where courage would be tested and character forged—where travelers would find themselves on a journey toward unimaginable beauty. The stories are not for children alone. They touch the mind and soul of anyone who is open to becoming childlike again, including adults who have become too weighed down by life to enjoy its simple glories. The Chronicles of Transformation, edited by University of Notre Dame professor Leonard J. DeLorenzo, is a collaborative work between scholars and artists, aimed to open adult readers' eyes and hearts to the transformative power of Lewis' Narnia, book by book. Jesus teaches,"Unless you turn and become like children, you will never enter the kingdom of heaven." The Chronicles of Narnia, read anew, can help us do just that. Includes seven original illustrations by Stephen Barany.

Download or read book Ethics beyond Rules written by Keith D Stanglin and published by Zondervan. This book was released on 2021-08-17 with total page 254 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: An introduction to ethics that will help Christians rediscover a moral reasoning rooted in Scripture and navigate the ethical crises of our time. How should Christians live? How should we interact with one another? Why do we think the way we do about right and wrong? How should we approach today's complex moral questions? Keith Stanglin realigns our ethical thinking around the central question: What does real love require? applying it to our ethical reasoning on many of the social issues present in today's culture: abortion sexual ethics consumerism technology race and politics Moral evaluation must be based on more than our subjective feelings or the received wisdom or majority opinion of our community. But thinking objectively and reasonably about our ethical commitments is a process that's rarely taught in contemporary education or even in churches. Ethics Beyond Rules is a clear and accessible introduction for thoughtful Christians who want to lead moral lives—who want to define their moral code by firm biblical standards while acknowledging the complex nature of the issues at hand. Stanglin's love-based framework for moral decision-making engages Scripture and the historic Christian faith, giving Christians the tools to clear-mindedly consider the ethical problems of today and the foundation to confront new issues in the years to come.

Book The Lion s World

Download or read book The Lion s World written by Rowan Williams and published by Oxford University Press, USA. This book was released on 2012 with total page 167 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Former Archbishop of Canterbury Rowan Williams offers fascinating insight into The Chronicles of Narnia, the popular series of novels by one of the most influential Christian authors of the modern era, C. S. Lewis. Lewis once referred to certain kinds of book as a "mouthwash for the imagination." This is what he attempted to provide in the Narnia stories, argues Williams: an unfamiliar world in which we could rinse out what is stale in our thinking about Christianity--"which is almost everything," says Williams--and rediscover what it might mean to meet the holy. Indeed, Lewis's great achievement in the Narnia books is just that-he enables readers to encounter the Christian story "as if for the first time." How does Lewis makes fresh and strange the familiar themes of Christian doctrine? Williams points out that, for one, Narnia itself is a strange place: a parallel universe, if you like. There is no "church" in Narnia, no religion even. The interaction between Aslan as a "divine" figure and the inhabitants of this world is something that is worked out in the routines of life itself. Moreover, we are made to see humanity in a fresh perspective, the pride or arrogance of the human spirit is chastened by the revelation that, in Narnia, you may be on precisely the same spiritual level as a badger or a mouse. It is through these imaginative dislocations that Lewis is able to communicate--to a world that thinks it knows what faith is--the character, the feel, of a real experience of surrender in the face of absolute incarnate love. This lucid, learned, humane, and beautifully written book opens a new window onto Lewis's beloved stories, revealing the moral wisdom and passionate faith beneath their perennial appeal.

She discovers that dark, unseen forces have her under surveillance, watching for an opportune time to bring her into temptation and deception. Her carnal nature falls prey to the influence of ungodly temptations, and she is lured into the world of fleeting pleasure and sin. Book Chronicles with God Volume Two

Download or read book Chronicles with God Volume Two written by Christopher Raj and published by Partridge Publishing Singapore. This book was released on 2019-10-21 with total page 234 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book is all the sermons I heard coming from the pulpit of the Church. Messages from the sermons could mean many things to people according to each person’s walk with God, meaning in all theses there is always a still voice of the Holy Spirit who speaks specifically to current situation and or your walk with God according to the purpose in which God has called you. I always had a desire in my heart to share that word of God to people who wants to hear him. I know with reading of this book you will be edified. There is no meaning to life unless it is purpose driven. Have a fulfilled life as he speaks to you as he did with me. We must learn to listen to that still voice of God. What I have written, is all about that still voice of God coming from the many man or Prophets of God. 10/17/19 The book contains a series of messages that came from the Pulpit while I was attending Metrotabernale, a church in Kuala Lumpur Malaysia. Being a Human Resources practitioner specialising people management, I realise people are a sum total of what they think. Attitudes and behaviour are a result of their past experience and or based on the cultures. The value system and prejudices are based on the thought process that has been accumulated over the years. The only way to change this if it wrong, is to know your creator and the purpose for which you are created. Roman 8 verses 28-30 28 And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who[i] have been called according to his purpose. 29 For those God foreknew he also predestined to be conformed to the image of his Son, that he might be the firstborn among many brothers and sisters. 30 And those he predestined, he also called; those he called, he also justified; those he justified, he also glorified. We are called according to his purpose, we are predestined, we are justified and we will also be glorified This book will help to find that purpose for a fulfilled life. Our life is not our own but for others who God places in our life. This book will help those who are searching their God given purpose. It will also help as a guide to Christians or Preachers who need guidance to preach the word of God. We are all not perfect including me. This book will help us walk this life towards perfection until that day. 2 Timothy 4 verse 7 7 I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith. Chronicle with God, will help you to fight a good fight, finish the race while you keep your faith.
