Download or read book A History of the Chronic Degenerative Diseases of the Central Nervous System Classic Reprint written by Thomas Kirkpatrick Monro and published by Forgotten Books. This book was released on 2018-01-03 with total page 94 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Excerpt from A History of the Chronic Degenerative Diseases of the Central Nervous System The essays included in this work formed part of a Graduation Thesis entitled Essays in Neurology: Historical and Clinical, and are now reprinted, with but slight alterations, from the Glasgow Medical Journal for 1895. They are historical studies of those chronic disorders which depend upon primary degenerative changes in the structure of the central nervous system. It is still doubtful whether the peroneal type of family amyotrophy ought to be admitted to this list, but its history is not lengthy, and I have thought it best to include it in the series. On the other hand, I have decided to leave out of consideration in this place two diseases primary optic atrophy and general paralysis of the insane which might, from many points of view, be regarded as belonging to this group. Each essay is introduced by a list of designations which have been applied to the disease whose history it narrates. The references collected at the end of each essay are in tended to indicate only such treatises and articles as I have myself consulted in the preparation of the essay; and for the constant courtesy and kindness with which he has assisted me to get access to this large body of literature, my hearty thanks are due to Mr. Alex. Duncan, Librarian to the Faculty of Physicians and Surgeons of Glasgow. About the Publisher Forgotten Books publishes hundreds of thousands of rare and classic books. Book Are Chronic Degenerative Diseases Part of the Ageing Process

Download or read book Are Chronic Degenerative Diseases Part of the Ageing Process written by Michael A. Singer and published by Nova Science Publishers. This book was released on 2015 with total page 0 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Most of the DNA in the human genome does not encode proteins but is involved in regulatory functions. In addition, the human genome is characterized by an extensive array of structural DNA variants arising from de novo mutations plus accumulated structural variants transmitted through an individual's lineage. The result is that each person has a unique genome which is expressed as that person's unique phenotype. Ageing can be understood on both the species and individual level. Each species has a programmed ageing and mortality pattern, but within those broad species-specific boundaries there is considerable individual variation. At the individual level, ageing reflects the integrated effects of that individual's unique mix of DNA structural variants, unique experience-specific epigenetic marks and imperfectly repaired genomic and cellular damage. This book examines human "chronic degenerative" diseases which are not diseases, but rather variations of the ageing process across individuals.

The nine points are presented as sensible guidelines that are easy to follow on a daily basis, without complicated measuring or calculatingâ€"and without sacrificing favorite foods. Eat for Life gives practical recommendations on foods to eat and in a "how-to" section provides tips on shopping (how to read food labels), cooking (how to turn a high-fat dish into a low-fat one), and eating out (how to read a menu with nutrition in mind). The volume explains what protein, fiber, cholesterol, and fats are and what foods contain them, and tells readers how to reduce their risk of chronic disease by modifying the types of food they eat. Each chronic disease is clearly defined, with information provided on its prevalence in the United States. Written for everyone concerned about how they can influence their health by what they eat, Eat for Life offers potentially lifesaving information in an understandable and persuasive way. Book Silent Inflammation

Download or read book Silent Inflammation written by Dr Bruce Miller and published by Oak Publication Sdn Bhd. This book was released on 2016-06-02 with total page 145 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: What do unrelated diseases such as heart disease, cancer, diabetes, Alzheimer’s, Parkinson’s, obesity, asthma, depression, premature aging and an army of diseases ending in the suffix “itis” such as gastritis, sinusitis, arthritis, have in common: The buzz word called inflammation. “Inflammation may well turn out to be the exclusive Holy Grail of medicine – the single phenomenon that holds the key to sickness and health,” firmly says William Joel Meggs, author of “The Inflammation Cure.” Silent inflammation falls just below the radar of pain and visible swelling. It is akin to life under the volcano. Even though you are feeling well and on top of the world right now, odds are that silent inflammation can be simmering in your body. Like a slow poison, silent inflammation can gradually destroy your body organs and tissues without you feeling it until a chronic disease surfaces in the form of diabetes, heart disease or even cancer that may prove fatal. I challenge you today to make a decision to decrease silent inflammation in your body if you want to move towards wellness as every pain, every chronic disease in your body and every pound of weight gained revolves around silent inflammation. Control it and you will feel better, look better, think better and perform better. That is what this book is about.

Book Reversibility of Chronic Disease and Hypersensitivity Volume 5

Download or read book Reversibility of Chronic Disease and Hypersensitivity Volume 5 written by William J. Rea and published by CRC Press. This book was released on 2022-06 with total page 0 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The clinical approaches to the chronic degenerative diseases that drain our resources, and compromise our well-being, have become almost exclusively symptom-focused. The common wisdom is that they are idiopathic with final outcomes to be managed rather than prevented or cured. That they are potentially reversible rarely enters any discussion between doctor and patient. Reversibility of Chronic Disease and Hypersensitivity, Volume 5: Treatment Options of Chemical Sensitivity, the final volume of this set, offers a much different perspective on chronic degenerative disease; one that disputes the idiopathic label attached to most, as well as the usual fatalistic prognosis.
