Book Semi Insulating III V Materials

Download or read book Semi Insulating III V Materials written by REES and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2012-12-06 with total page 366 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The study of deep levels in semiconductors has seen considerable growth in recent years. Many new techniques have become available for investigating both the electronic properties of deep levels and the chemical nature of the defects from which they arise. This increasing interest has been stimulated by the importance of the subject to device technology, in particular those microwave and opto-electronic devices made from GaAs, InP and their alloys. While previous conferences have covered specialist areas of deep level technology, the meeting described here was arranged to draw together workers from these separate fields of study. The following papers reflect the breadth of interests represented at the conference. For the sake of uniformity we have chosen the English alternative where an American expression has been used. We have also sought to improve grammar, sometimes without the approval of the author in the interests of rapid publication. The Editor wishes to thank the referees for their ready advice at all stages, Paul Jay who helped with many of the editorial duties and Muriel Howes and Lorraine Jones for rapid and accurate typing.

Book Liquid Phase Epitaxy of Electronic Optical and Optoelectronic Materials

Download or read book Liquid Phase Epitaxy of Electronic Optical and Optoelectronic Materials written by Peter Capper and published by John Wiley & Sons. This book was released on 2007-08-20 with total page 464 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Liquid-Phase Epitaxy (LPE) is a technique used in the bulk growth of crystals, typically in semiconductor manufacturing, whereby the crystal is grown from a rich solution of the semiconductor onto a substrate in layers, each of which is formed by supersaturation or cooling. At least 50% of growth in the optoelectronics area is currently focussed on LPE. This book covers the bulk growth of semiconductors, i.e. silicon, gallium arsenide, cadmium mercury telluride, indium phosphide, indium antimonide, gallium nitride, cadmium zinc telluride, a range of wide-bandgap II-VI compounds, diamond and silicon carbide, and a wide range of oxides/fluorides (including sapphire and quartz) that are used in many industrial applications. A separate chapter is devoted to the fascinating field of growth in various forms of microgravity, an activity that is approximately 30-years old and which has revealed many interesting features, some of which have been very surprising to experimenters and theoreticians alike. Covers the most important materials within the field The contributors come from a wide variety of countries and include both academics and industrialists, to give a balanced treatment Builds-on an established series known in the community Highly pertinent to current and future developments in telecommunications and computer-processing industries.

Book Materials Engineering

Download or read book Materials Engineering written by J. V. Bee and published by Elsevier. This book was released on 2013-10-22 with total page 257 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Materials Engineering presents the proceedings of the First International Symposium held at the University of the Witwatersrand, Johannesburg, South Africa in November 1985. The book aims to survey the historical development, the state-of-the-art and potential future directions of a broad range of engineering materials and processes. The text describes the materials for the 1980s and 1990s; the structure-property relationships in metals, polymers and composites; and the developments in engineering ceramics. Engineering ceramics; semiconductors; and the surface engineering of metals are also considered. The book further tackles papers on alloy development through microstructural design; welding processes; facets on fatigue; and corrosion-resistant materials. The text also encompasses nuclear techniques; the use analytical electron microscopy in materials science and engineering; materials science and engineering in South Africa; and hot working. The book will be useful to scientists, engineers and technologists involved in all aspects of research, design and applications of a broad range of engineering materials.
