Book Chromatic Dispersion Compensation Using Fiber Bragg Gratings

Download or read book Chromatic Dispersion Compensation Using Fiber Bragg Gratings written by Sree Rajya Lakshmi Popury and published by . This book was released on 2016 with total page 54 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In this project, the Chromatic Dispersion is studied in detail with the ways to reduce it using different techniques. The focus of this project is in Fiber Bragg Grating (FBG) technique as a means to reduce dispersion. For the implementation of FBG, a supportive software tool called Optisystem-10 is used. Using this tool, the Chromatic Dispersion is first simulated to analyze the performance of the system before implementing FBG. The first method that is implemented, uses ideal FBG component that compensates the total dispersion, retrieving the actual signal. This method is very successful but not practical. So, the second method uses the practical FBG and its performance is analyzed by varying its parameters for an optimal output. The third method uses OptiGrating, a component that is available in the OptiSystem-10 library. OptiGrating is a component that is predefined and a software implementation of the second method that is ready to use without any user interaction. It is found from this study that the second method is best to bring the dispersion down to 83.53% while keeping the program proactive with the user.
