Book Zion s Christian Soldiers

Download or read book Zion s Christian Soldiers written by Stephen Sizer and published by Wipf and Stock Publishers. This book was released on 2021-07-24 with total page 190 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Many Bible believing Christians are convinced that God blesses those nations that stand with Israel and curses those that don’t. This belief has had a significant influence on attitudes towards the ongoing Palestinian-Israeli conflict in the Middle East. Claims made in books like the Scofield Reference Bible and Hal Lindsey’s The Late Great Planet Earth have fed into contemporary Christian Zionism, with radical implications for how we view our faith and the world in which we live. Stephen Sizer contends that this view is based on misinterpretation of the Bible. He provides an introduction to Christian Zionism and a clear response and positive alternative based on a careful study of relevant biblical texts. His intention is to encourage dialogue on the relationship between Israel and the Christian church and offer a more constructive view of the future and our role in it. This accessible volume includes numerous tables and diagrams, questions for Bible study and further reflection, and a glossary of terms. It concludes with a previously unpublished sermon by John Stott on ‘The Place of Israel.’

Download or read book The Early Church on Killing written by Ronald J. Sider and published by Baker Books. This book was released on 2012-07-01 with total page 323 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: What did the early church believe about killing? What was its view on abortion? How did it approach capital punishment and war? Noted theologian and bestselling author Ron Sider lets the testimony of the early church speak in the first of a three-volume series on biblical peacemaking. This book provides in English translation all extant data directly relevant to the witness of the early church until Constantine on killing. Primarily, it draws data from early church writings, but other evidence, such as archaeological finds and Roman writings, is included. Sider taps into current evangelical interest in how the early church informs contemporary life while presenting a thorough, comprehensive treatment on topics of perennial concern. The book includes brief introductions to every Christian writer cited and explanatory notes on many specific texts.

Download or read book Stand Therefore written by Adam Armstrong and published by Hpg Ministries. This book was released on 2013-08 with total page 120 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: STAND THEREFORE is a "field Guide" for Christian soldiers of all ages regardless of military service or length of time as a Christian. Scott A. Harrison (Author) uses his time deployed to Operation Desert Storm as a springboard into how to be an effective soldier for Christ. During his time in Operation Desert Storm, Scott began to see a relationship between that of a soldier in the US Army and a soldier in the Lord's Army. 10 years or so passed and one day while sitting in his office, he came across the Soldiers Manual of Common Tasks (SMCT) which was issued during his time in Basic Training. Thumbing through the SMCT, he began to write about the relationship between an Army soldier and that of a Christian. 3 years later, "Stand Therefore" was completed. We are at war. This war began in the Garden of Eden and will end on a bloody battlefield in a place called Armageddon. The entire Bible is about this war. Satan is the enemy, and Christ has already won the victory. This book is not about Satan's attack on the world in general but rather about his attack on each of us as individual Christians in our role as individual soldiers in God's army. The time has come for all Christians to stand and fight - not a carnal war with rifles, bayonets, and hand grenades but a spiritual war. In my lifetime I have seen the rapid decline of our great nation. War has reached our borders. As the United States of America, the last great hope for accomplishing Christ's Great Commission (Matthew 28:19-20) to evangelize the world falls to the wiles of the devil, most Christians stand on the sidelines despairing that anything can be done. We are to don the spiritual armor God has given us and fight that souls might be saved. Our Great Commander, the Lord Jesus Christ, died and rose again that we might have life and live a more abundant life. The Lord Jesus Christ paid the price for our sin before we realized we needed such a payment and by doing so, secured our salvation. Christ left with us the Holy Spirit by which we have the strength to stand. Having done all to stand, stand therefore (Ephesians 6:13-14).

Book The Victorious Christian Soldier in Christ s Army

Download or read book The Victorious Christian Soldier in Christ s Army written by Urian Oakes and published by Puritan Publications. This book was released on 2020-08-28 with total page 99 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: What does it mean to be a conqueror in Christ's army? In fact, the question really is, what does it mean to be not only a conqueror, but more than a conqueror and good soldier in Christ's ranks? Oakes, in this wonderful work on answering that question, dives deep into Paul’s statement in Romans 8:37, “Nay, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him that loved us.” The truth proclaimed by Oakes is that there is a “more than ordinary triumph” over all those enemies that oppose themselves against the progress and advancement of a Christian in his way to the fruition of the sweet fruits of the everlasting love of God in Jesus Christ. That all true believers have a transcendent, and incomparably glorious conquest and victory in all their severe engagements with the enemies of their peace and happiness, through the love of God in Christ Jesus. Every true believer is a soldier, and engaged in a warfare. Every true believer has a constant fighting work before God, and there is no end of his war in this world, not any time in which he can stop fighting. Yet, a true believer is never totally and absolutely conquered in any engagement with the enemies that war against him. Every true believer manages a successful war, and is sure of a conquest. A believer’s victory and conquest are incomparably glorious. Every believer obtains this glorious victory and conquest through the Lord Jesus Christ. The love of God in Christ is the absolute first cause of those victorious proceedings, and this infallible conquest of believers. These believers are the greatest soldiers who have ever lived, and are comforted in their fight by the blessings of Almighty God through Christ. All believers must know and consider that they are soldiers in Christ’s army, and have a fighting work, a warfare, before them until they reach heaven. They must, as faithful soldiers, improve their skill in fighting, and harness the spiritual power of the everlasting Gospel of Jesus for their victory. We wait, and pray, and look, and long for that glorious day, when our warfare shall be ended, and we shall go out of the field victorious, and triumphant, as absolute conquerors. This work is not a scan or facsimile, has been carefully transcribed by hand being made easy to read in modern English, and has an active table of contents for electronic versions.

Book Onward Christian Soldiers

Download or read book Onward Christian Soldiers written by Deal W. Hudson and published by Simon and Schuster. This book was released on 2008-03-11 with total page 387 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Like a mighty army moves the church of God; Brothers, we are treading where the saints have trod. We are not divided, all one body we. One in hope and doctrine, one in charity. -- From the nineteenth-century hymn "Onward, Christian Soldiers" What keeps America a country of religious practice and traditional values? How has the U.S. avoided suc-cumbing to total secularism? The answer to these provocative questions is found in the religious commun-ities of America today: In the past thirty years, the religiously active voter has migrated to the Republican Party, and the story behind this shift, evidenced in the emergence of Evangelical dominance over mainstream Protestantism and the defeat of liberal Catholicism, is at the heart of this fascinating cultural history. In Onward, Christian Soldiers, the Washington insider who was at the vanguard of the sea change in religious and political history that propelled George W. Bush into the White House offers an intimate perspective on those remarkable years -- and their influence over the ones to come. Deal W. Hudson analyzes how, steadily over-coming age-old misjudgments and misunderstandings that separated them, conservative Catholics and Evangelical Christians drew together because of what they viewed as profound assaults on shared core beliefs. They became allies to battle the forces of secularization, relativism, and atheism. And together they forged a grassroots movement across America that astonished political activists and surprised commentators as well as members of traditional religious organizations. How, exactly, was this coalition achieved and who were its movers and shakers? What enabled them to deepen, enrich, and activate the resurgence of traditional values in society to make America radically different from the secularized Europe that was so widely believed to be on the verge of becoming the model for the United States? Deal W. Hudson details this phenomenon by examining the leading figures and institutions on both sides of the debate, exposing the dramatic encounters between those espousing fundamental Judeo-Christian beliefs and those heralding the "death of God" and the new age of secular humanism. Dealing with today's hot-button issues, Onward, Christian Soldiers provides an unprecedented look at the confrontation of the religious right with secularists in America, a confrontation that is not only timely but also timeless in its impact.

Book excerpt: "The Christian Soldier" is a side by side reference of military experiences and history to that of a Christian Soldier. We often refer ourselves to being a Soldier in God's Army but not everyone has military experience. This book was inspired by an actual personal experience that left me wondering if we were in a warzone and this occurred how many people would be sent to the brig (military prison). The Apostle Paul gives several spiritual scriptures and references on our Christian walk with the walk of one of a soldier. Whether you were in the military or not, this book helps to reflect and understand not only these scriptures better, but also helps us to reflect on our walk with Christ as a Christian Soldier. The greatest tool a successful Marine has is discipline. "Discipline is Instant and Willing Obedience to Orders, Respect for Authority, Self-Reliance and Teamwork" we learned this saying in 1st Phase in Marine Bootcamp. Discipline is a multi-definition word usage. It takes discipline to wake up at 0400 in the morning to run and exercise but it is needed to stay in shape in the Marine Corps. It is just as necessary to wake up early for your devotional time with God every day to stay in Spiritual shape as a Christian. This is just one example we can compare as a soldier to our walk with Christ. The Comparison of the military soldier to a Christian Soldier is an insightful and amazing way to compare our walk with Christ. Whether you are a strong Christian and want to challenge your walk to a greater level or a new born again Christian to examine where you would like to begin your walk and how to live a successful Christian Life, this book fits every spiritual level.

Book Soldiers of Christ

Download or read book Soldiers of Christ written by Martin Browne (Benedictine monk) and published by . This book was released on 2016 with total page 249 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: "The Military and Hospitaller Orders emerged in the twelfth century as Christendom engaged with the threats and the opportunities offered by its Muslim and non-Christian neighbours. In an Irish context, the Knights Hospitaller and the Knights Templar were the most significant expressions of this unusual vocation that sought to combine military service with monastic observance. Arriving with the first Anglo-Norman settlers, the orders were granted vast landholdings and numerous privileges in Ireland to support their activities in Palestine and the Middle East. From the outset, the knights were closely associated with the administration of the Anglo-Irish colony, with the superior of the Hospitallers, the Prior of Kilmainham, consistently playing a key role in crown affairs. This volume, the proceedings of the Third Glenstal History Conference, explores the history of the Military and Hospitaller Orders in Ireland from their arrival in the late twelfth century to their dissolution and attempted revival in the mid-sixteenth century. Other contributions explore the orders' agricultural, artistic, economic, pastoral and religious activities as well as examining the archaeology of many of their sites."--Publisher description.
