Book Raison philosophique et christianisme l aube du troisi me mill naire

Download or read book Raison philosophique et christianisme l aube du troisi me mill naire written by Philippe Capelle and published by . This book was released on 2004 with total page 391 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle.

Book Reflections on Philosophy and Religion

Download or read book Reflections on Philosophy and Religion written by Alan Donagan and published by Oxford University Press, USA. This book was released on 1999 with total page 234 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book contains the collected papers of Alan Donagan on topics in the philosophy of religion. Donagan was respected as a leading figure in American moral philosophy. His untimely death in 1991 prevented him from collecting his philosophical reflections on religion, particularly Christianity, and its relation to ethics and other concerns. This collection, therefore, constitutes the fullest expression of Donagan's thought on Christianity and ethics, in which it is possible to discern the outlines of a coherent, overarching theory. Editor Anthony Perovich has supplied a useful introduction, which brings Donagan's work into focus and brings out the unifying themes in the essays.

Book The Question of Christian Philosophy Today

Download or read book The Question of Christian Philosophy Today written by Francis J. Ambrosio and published by . This book was released on 1999 with total page 400 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Based on papers delivered at a conference held at Georgetown University in Fall, 1993, The Question of Christian Philosophy Today probes different issues confronting Christian philosophy at the brink of the twenty-first century, from traditionalism to post-modernism. Together with excerpts from the question and answer session, each paper and the concluding round table discussion are here preserved in five distinct sections. The work, taken as a whole, is an exemplar of the meaning and spirit of where we can locate Christian philosophy today, and what we can expect for its future.

Book excerpt: In 15 insightful essays, Jacques Derrida and an international group of scholars of religion explore postmodern thinking about God and consider the nature of forgiveness in relation to the paradoxes of the gift. Among the themes addressed by contributors are the possibilities of imagining God as unthinkable, imagining God as non-patriarchal, imagining a return to Augustine, and imagining an age in which praise is far more important than narrative. Questioning God moves readers beyond the parameters of metaphysical reason and modernist rationality as it attempts to think the questions of God and forgiveness in a postmodernist context. Contributors include John D. Caputo, Jacques Derrida, Mark Dooley, Francis Schüssler Fiorenza, Robert Gibbs, Jean Greisch, Kevin Hart, Richard Kearney, Cleo McNelly Kearns, John Milbank, Regina M. Schwartz, Michael J. Scanlon, and Graham Ward. Indiana Series in the Philosophy of Religion--Merold Westphal, general editor
