Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The events of Nehemiah's life may not be as familiar as the feats of David, the ark of Noah, or the storms tossing Jonah, but the hand of God is clearly upon this man's heart and mind. Dr. Redpath guides us through the book of Nehemiah and reveals for us the abundant life of Christian service. Nehemiah's motivation is both compelling and convicting as he risks much to honor God's house and, thus, God's name. Joining him in his journey to reconstruct the walls of Jerusalem, we observe the crucial element of a structurally sound spiritual walk. God employs this willing worker to recognize a need, begin preparation, and face the challenge. These are the lessons that compel God's people to Victorious Christian Service.

Book Book Bath Table and Time

Download or read book Book Bath Table and Time written by Fred P. Edoe and published by The Pilgrim Press. This book was released on 2007-12-01 with total page 327 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: "Book, Bath, Table, and Time: Christian Worship as Source and Resource for Youth Ministry," offers practical and proven ideas that center youth ministry in liturgy and worship, with playfulness and practicality to successfully engage the younger generation. With solid theological grounding, Fred P. Edie provides suggestions on how youth can practice the ordo, the ancient church's "ordered" life around its liturgical holy things: bath (Baptism); book (Scriptures); table (Eucharist); and calendar (the prayerful patterning of time). Through this book, youth leaders will be able to guide Christian youth to experience God's presence and take up their baptismal vocations before God and for the world.

Book The Way of Christian Service

Download or read book The Way of Christian Service written by Zacharias Tanee Fomum and published by ZTF Books Online. This book was released on 2016-05-22 with total page 188 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Serving the Lord is something that is best begun in His immediate presence. When a person has served Him in His immediate presence and satisfied His heart, He may send such a one to go and serve on His behalf. Serving the Lord in His immediate presence consists essentially in worshipping Him. Of the leaders of the church in Antioch it was said, "While they were worshipping the Lord and fasting, the Holy Spirit said, 'Set apart for me Barnabas and Saul for the work to which I have called them.' Then after fasting and praying, they laid their hands on them and sent them off" (Acts 13:2-3). Barnabas and Saul were sent out to serve from the presence of the Lord to the work to which God had called them. They were ministering in His presence when He sent them away to minister on His behalf. All service of the Lord ought to begin that way. Serving the Lord is invariably tied to resurrection life. No one can truly serve the Lord without that He, the Lord of all glory, has taken the initiative to bring that one into His service. This is so because those who serve Him must know death with Christ and resurrection with Him. Service is the flow of the life of God, and without resurrection life, there can be no flow. People can do many things in the Lord's name, but only that which flows from life will last, and to have the flow of life there must, first of all, be death. A person will minister in proportion to the extent to which he has died and risen with Christ. Those who spare them¬selves the hard demands of the cross will find that they have also spared themselves the ministry of life. The extent to which a person surrenders himself to death to the world and the flesh, is the extent to which that one will know resurrection life and resurrection ministry. There can be a work in might and power that is not fully of the Holy Spirit. Samson ministered in power, although he was out of vital fellowship with the Holy God. God demands holiness from all who would serve Him to His satisfaction. Finally, we want to say that Christian work is acceptable in His sight and satisfies His heart only to the extent to which it is in harmony with His will and under His direction. Every work that is outside His will and direction is not only useless; it is an abomination to Him. Too many believers today are doing nothing for the Lord. They are shy and withdrawn and lack boldness and a clear sense of direction. Where are those who would dare to step out at His command and take entire villages, towns, provinces, nations, and continents for Him? Where are those who would seek great things for Him? My prayer is that the Lord of the harvest should use these messages to raise servants and slaves unto His glorious Son, and that such will start in His presence and, as He directs, end in the uttermost parts of the world. Lord Jesus, ignore the weaknesses and shortcomings both of these messages and of the human messenger, and use them, Lord, for Your glory. Amen.

Book 10 Power Principles for Christian Service

Download or read book 10 Power Principles for Christian Service written by Warren W. Wiersbe and published by Baker Books. This book was released on 2010-07-01 with total page 144 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In a church culture that is rapidly losing its unique, intergenerational make-up in favor of small groups and even entire churches designed to target specific age groups, it can be difficult for ministers to relate to those who are not in their own demographic. But Warren and David Wiersbe, representing two generations, believe that generational differences should not keep ministers from relating to their congregations. In this thoughtful and practical book, they offer ten principles for Christian service that always work, at all times and in all places, inviting ministers to get back to the basics of serving others. New and seasoned pastors alike will find this a welcome source of inspiration and instruction on how they can relate and minister to people of all ages.

Book The Christian s Reasonable Service

Download or read book The Christian s Reasonable Service written by Wilhemus A'Brakel and published by . This book was released on 2012-05-02 with total page 2704 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: First published in 1700, The Christian¿s Reasonable Service (De Redelijke Godsdienst) ran through twenty Dutch editions in the eighteenth century alone! The title is derived from Romans 12:1, ¿I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that you present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service.¿ It expresses what God requires from man, and particularly from the Christian, that he serve Him in Spirit and in truth¿intelligently, rationally, and in harmony with and response to God¿s revelation of Himself, His Word. With a decidedly Puritan flavor and representing Reformed experiential religion at its best, Wilhelmus à Brakel systematically moves through the major doctrines of the Bible in hopes of seeing the minds of God¿s people renewed for the purpose of promoting godliness. Throughout his work, but particularly in the practical application of each doctrine, à Brakel strives unceasingly to exalt the name of Jesus as the name that the Father has given above every other name¿there being no other name given under heaven among men whereby we must be saved (Acts 4:12).

Book Ministry in the Image of God

Download or read book Ministry in the Image of God written by Stephen Seamands and published by InterVarsity Press. This book was released on 2009-09-20 with total page 190 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Merit winner in the 2006 Christianity Today Book Awards! "As the Father has sent me, so I send you." Those of us called to Christian ministry are commissioned and sent by Jesus, just as he himself was called and sent by the Father. Thus we naturally pattern our ministries after Christ's example. But distinctively Christian service involves the Spirit as well, just as Jesus himself accomplished his ministry in the power of the Spirit. Thus the whole Trinity--Father, Son and Holy Spirit--gives shape to truly authentic Christian ministry. Though as Christians we all affirm the doctrine of the Trinity, many of us might struggle to explain how understanding the Trinity could actually shape our ministry. Stephen Seamands demonstrates how a fully orbed theology of the Trinity transforms our perception and practice of vocational ministry. Theological concepts like relationality and perichoresis have direct relevance to pastoral life and work, especially in unfolding a trinitarian approach to relationships, service and mission. A thoroughly trinitarian outlook provides the fuel for our ministry "of Jesus Christ, to the Father, through the Holy Spirit, on behalf of the church and the world." Essential reading for pastors, parachurch workers, counselors, missionaries, youth ministers and all who are called to any vocation of Christian ministry.
