Book Vincent of L rins and the Development of Christian Doctrine

Download or read book Vincent of L rins and the Development of Christian Doctrine written by Thomas G. Guarino and published by Baker Books. This book was released on 2013-05-15 with total page 304 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The theology of Vincent of Lérins is often reduced to a memorable slogan: "We hold that faith which has been believed everywhere, always, and by everyone." Thomas Guarino argues that this "Vincentian canon" has frequently been taken out of context. This book introduces Vincent's thought and its reception in Christian history, exploring Vincent's creative and innovative understanding of the development of doctrine and showing how it informed the thought of John Henry Newman. Guarino contends that Vincent's theology contributes significantly to theology and ecumenism in the twenty-first century. The volume is the second in a series on the church fathers edited by Hans Boersma and Matthew Levering. About the Series The Foundations of Theological Exegesis and Christian Spirituality series critically recovers patristic exegesis and interpretation for contemporary theology and spirituality. Each volume covers a specific church father and illuminates the exegesis that undergirds the Nicene tradition.

Book For God and Profit

Download or read book For God and Profit written by Samuel Gregg and published by Herder & Herder. This book was released on 2016 with total page 0 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: From Christianity's very beginning, it has had a difficult relationship with the world of money. Through developing sophisticated understandings of the nature and wealth-creating capacity of capital, Christian theologians, philosophers, and financiers exerted considerable influence upon the emergence and development of the international financial systems that helped unleash a revolution in the way the world thinks about and uses capital. In For God and Profit, Samuel Gregg underscores the different ways in which Christians have helped to develop the financial and banking systems that have helped millions escape poverty for hundreds of years. But he also provides a critical lens through which to assess the workings--and failures--of modern finance and banking. Far from being doomed to producing economic instability and periodic financial crises, Gregg illustrates that how Christian faith and reason can shape financial practices and banking institutions in ways that restore integrity to our troubled financial systems.

Book Christian Microenterprise Development

Download or read book Christian Microenterprise Development written by David Bussau and published by Wipf and Stock Publishers. This book was released on 2010-11-01 with total page 159 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The past decade has seen a remarkable growth in mission in countries in the 10/40 window. Dynamic mission groups are always searching for authentic approaches to enable them to serve communities with integrity and remain faithful to the biblical message. Of the various approaches attempted, one in particular that has arrested the imagination and enthusiasm of many mission organizations is Microenterprise Development (MED). Recent surveys suggest that in excess of 1,200 different Christian organization are currently implementing MED in the two-thirds world. Alas, many of these efforts begin with little understanding of the basic fundamentals of creating a credit culture, with the discipline and knowledge of the best practices required. The objective of this handbook is to provide information to help Christian MED practitioners and donors better understand how to apply Christian MED in ways that build Christ's kingdom. The book draws from literature on secular MED and undertakes eight case studies of Christian MED programs from around the world. It then compares the findings from both to identify the strengths and weaknesses of Christian MED.

Download or read book Christian Credit Reputation Repair II written by Brent Runyan and published by Createspace Independent Publishing Platform. This book was released on 2016-07-30 with total page 32 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: We live in a world that is filled with flaws and imperfections. Only God can judge another person's heart, but we are constantly being judged by people and nowadays our histories and any mistakes we have made - as well as things we didn't do but are reported as though we did do them - are readily made available to anyone who has a computer. Most often this is done for profit. Of course the time it takes to do the things needed varies based on all of the circumstances, but in many cases you can get your credit and/or reputation cleaned up in as little as 30 to 60 days or at least get most of it done that can be. Often times major positive changes occur in under two weeks with one or more of the credit bureaus. And regardless of the status on convictions you can stop unregulated companies from publishing or selling those records on the Internet, if you have any, in about 45 days. Topics covered in the book: SECTION ONE: "Credit Repair" Ordering Reports by Mail VS. Online Ordering your credit bureau reports from Transunion, Equifax & Experian Recommended Best Way to Order Credit Bureau Reports & File Disputes "Report" or "Confirmation" numbers Credit Bureau Contact Information, Services & Links Filing Disputes SECTION TWO: "Reputation Repair, Expungements & Set Asides" Filing Motions Expedited Removal of Information from Background Check Companies Regulated & Unregulated Companies Letter for Removal of Information from Background Check Companies Comparison of Website Removal Services Rules for Set Aside, Expungement & Sealing by State Worksheets for Credit Repair & Filing Motions. Both civil and criminal laws in the United States were written and based upon laws written in the Old Testament of the Bible. In the Law of the Old Testament debts had to be forgiven after 7 years. That principle is still in effect in our laws today to a large degree, although not entirely. Bankruptcies can (if not removed legally via credit repair) remain on record for up to 10 years and arrest or conviction records for all practical purposes can be accessed for a lifetime - which is why it's wise to get those convictions set aside or expunged or reduced whenever possible. Of course the New Testament calls Christians to be instantly forgiving.

Yet programs of financialization propel new modes of violence. As prosperity becomes conflated with peace, and debt with devotion, survival only becomes possible through credit and its accompanying forms of indebtedness.
