Book excerpt: From what we see around us, we can conclude our beloved country is going in the wrong direction. We have felt safe while Christians around the world have been suffering incredible religious persecution. It is catching up to us. There is a growing cooperative relation between the government and several private groups to repress any Christian expression. Openly practicing our faith is under attack. God has appointed His believers to be His ambassadors to this world and has called us to stand up and defend the faith (1 Peter 3:15; 2 Corinthians 5:20). This book examines the forces that resist our openly witnessing for the faith. We will examine the world, the flesh, and the Devil and look at their interaction with man. Hopefully, we will open a supportive dialogue between ambassadors. Dr. Edward Jones is a seventy-five-year-old man living in a senior complex in central Florida. He led an active life prior to 1995 when he became disabled. Writing replaced preaching. In addition to his books, he writes for the Crossroads Bible Institute and is chairmen of his church's prison ministry. He brings to his writing a unique balance between the spiritual and the secular. His books reflect the interplay of the two. Other books include Come up Hither and The Joy of Fellowship. Christ's Ambassadors is his third book. All his books reflect his deep commitment to Biblical inerrancy.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In God's Ambassadors E. Brooks Holifield masterfully traces the history of America's Christian clergy from the seventeenth to the twenty-first century, analyzing the changes in practice and authority that have transformed the clerical profession. Challenging one-sided depictions of decline in clerical authority, Holifield locates the complex story of the clergy within the context not only of changing theologies but also of transitions in American culture and society. The result is a thorough social history of the profession that also takes seriously the theological presuppositions that have informed clerical activity. With alternating chapters on Protestant and Catholic clergy, the book permits sustained comparisons between the two dominant Christian traditions in American history. At the same time, God's Ambassadors depicts a vocation that has remained deeply ambivalent regarding the professional status marking the other traditional learned callings in the American workplace. Changing expectations about clerical education, as well as enduring theological questions, have engendered a debate about the professional ideal that has distinguished the clerical vocation from such fields as law and medicine. The American clergy from the past four centuries constitute a colorful, diverse cast of characters who have, in ways both obvious and obscure, helped to shape the tone of American culture. For a well-rounded narrative of their story told by a master historian, God's Ambassadors is the book to read.

Book Heaven s Ambassadors in the Making

Download or read book Heaven s Ambassadors in the Making written by Timothy Wambura and published by AuthorLoyalty. This book was released on 2021-02-04 with total page 147 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The parable of the Prodigal Son speaks of the wayward son coming to his right mind while working among the pigs. Unfortunately, many people don't have a right mind to come to because they have not had Godly people in their lives to teach them what is right. Words like faith, hope, and love often don't have much meaning to people unless someone has provided them with examples. Ambassadors in the Making provides examples of what it means to follow Christ's commandments to serve, trust, and be generous. These examples allow people to reclaim the holy existence God has already given them. This book tells the stories of two ministries on opposite sides of the world that both transformed lives of individuals who were once spiritually lost. The transition houses, orphanages, schools, and hospitals in the ministries are considered Embassies of Heaven, outposts in a foreign land, staffed by Ambassadors for Christ. Readers will be inspired to become Ambassadors who partner with the Holy Spirit to enable the hurting souls around them to become all that they were created to be.

Book excerpt: An Ambassador is an official and accredited representative of their own sovereign state to another place or country. The Ambassador speaks not for themselves but represents the ideals, thoughts and actions of the one who sent them and with their authority. All Christians, as Disciples of Jesus Christ, are Ambassadors for Jesus Christ into the world in which we live. Therefore throughout this book, we use both words, Ambassador and Disciple, in relation to the Christian. As Ambassadors for Jesus Christ, we are to be His representatives here on earth. We are His Church, which is an Orchestra of Joy. The Christian Ambassador has a joyous message to present to people about how people can be reconciled with God. A message to all people, of all nations, of all time, without favouritism or corruption. As Christian Ambassadors, we are sent by our Lord Jesus Christ, into the world, in order to live our lives for Him and Him alone. Inside this book, we look at 6 main characteristics of the life of the Christian Ambassador: 1. The Ambassador's Identification 2. The Ambassador's Message 3. The Ambassador's New Life 4. The Ambassador's Serving Life 5. The Ambassador's Devotional Life 6. The Ambassador's Uncompromising Life The Disciple of Jesus Christ, the Christian, is God's Ambassador, as exhorted by the Apostle Paul in 2 Corinthians 5:20-21: 20 We are therefore Christ's Ambassadors, as though God were making His appeal through us. We implore you on Christ's behalf: be reconciled to God. 21 God made Him who had no sin to be sin for us, so that in Him we might become the righteousness of God.

Book China s Ambassadors of Christ to the Nations

Download or read book China s Ambassadors of Christ to the Nations written by Tabor Laughlin and published by Wipf and Stock Publishers. This book was released on 2020-03-24 with total page 146 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Maybe you are familiar with the growth in recent decades of "majority world" missionaries being sent all over the world from non-Western countries (i.e., countries in Asia, Africa, Latin America, Middle East). This book focuses on missionaries sent from one non-Western country, analyzing the experiences of Chinese missionaries on the mission field. The missionaries interviewed were sent from house churches in mainland China, have served overseas for at least two years, and are ministering cross-culturally to non-Chinese on the mission field. The first research question relates to Chinese missionaries' successes and difficulties in cross-culturally building relationships with locals, learning the local language, and adjusting to the local culture. The second research question analyzes factors that have contributed to the Chinese missionaries remaining on the mission field. This included how pre-field preparation and on-field support contributed to their retention. Also analyzed were other challenges and needs the missionaries had on the field. The interviewees were serving in countries in Central Asia, Southeast Asia, and the Middle East.

Book Ambassadors of Reconciliation

Download or read book Ambassadors of Reconciliation written by Geoff Hartt and published by William Carey Publishing. This book was released on 2023-08-15 with total page 277 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Reconciling Practice and Theology What does reconciliation have to do with the work of missions? In today’s conflict-ridden world, the concept of reconciliation has gained traction, and Christian missions is being rethought. The whole world cries out for holistic transformation with eternal value, and God’s people are called to be his ambassadors. Ambassadors of Reconciliation lays the groundwork for exploring a new paradigm for missions. Divided into three parts, the book first establishes the theological foundations of reconciliation. The second part then shows how theory and practice go hand in hand. Finally, the third part uses case studies to highlight the importance of understanding brokenness, conflict, and culture for effective ministry in reconciliation. The contributors challenge readers to consider the church’s role in God's mission and how every Christian can become an envoy of his restoration work. They emphasize the spiritual dimension of reconciliation and offer practical guidance for effectively engaging in ministry. Whether you are a missionary, pastor, or someone interested in promoting restoration in the world, this book provides valuable insights and tools for your journey.

Book The Biographies of Jesus Apostles

Download or read book The Biographies of Jesus Apostles written by James Allen Moseley and published by Wipf and Stock Publishers. This book was released on 2022-10-21 with total page 411 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Apart from a few famous stories, like Peter walking on water, most readers of the Bible have only a vague notion of who Jesus’ apostles were and what exactly they did. Yet, without knowing their adventurous lives, the full story of the Apostolic Age fades into a Sunday school cliché. Even the most popular books on the subject fail to fit all the puzzle pieces together. This book, gleaned from over a decade of teaching and study, takes you alongside the apostles, reveals the world through their eyes, and accurately retraces every known step of their lives. Imprisoned in Nero’s Rome, Paul wrote, “I am an ambassador in chains.” “Apostle” means ambassador, and these long-suffering ambassadors of Christ bore the gospel over tens of thousands of miles from Jerusalem to Africa, Europe, and Asia. They planted churches, had heavenly encounters, worked miracles, wrote all-time best-sellers, were shipwrecked, flogged, imprisoned, and martyred, and yet they turned empires and kingdoms upside down. Open this book and begin a journey of discovery, back to the first century, experiencing how, against all odds, these embattled and triumphant ambassadors in chains so perfectly fulfilled Jesus’ Great Commission.
