Book Christ Is All the Gospel of the Old Testament Genesis

Download or read book Christ Is All the Gospel of the Old Testament Genesis written by Henry Law and published by Theclassics.Us. This book was released on 2013-09 with total page 46 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This historic book may have numerous typos and missing text. Purchasers can usually download a free scanned copy of the original book (without typos) from the publisher. Not indexed. Not illustrated. 1855 edition. Excerpt: ... THE AEK. "The Lord said unto Noah, Come thou and all thin house into the ark."--Gen. vii. 1. The story of the ark has been familiar to us from memory's birth. It gave interest to our earliest lessons. Its very name revives the instructions by a tender mother's side, or from some anxious teacher's lips. It brings us back to the first pages of our first Bible, and to our seats as children in our childhood's class. In a land of Christian teaching, most in their youth thus ponder the record of a wretched world's most wretched end. In thought they trace and retrace each particular, until the whole is vivid, as a witnessed scene. But they, who go no deeper, only trifle as with a nursery-toy. Their feet reach the threshold of truth's palace; but they enter not into the wide chamber, in which God dispenses light. They break not the box of precious ointment. They are like Hagar. A well of water is near.--She thirsts, but sees it not. Reader, be not deceived. The Bible is a mirror in your hands for this grand end, --that you may see therein a loving Saviour's loving heart, and a mighty Saviour's mighty deeds. He is the treasure of the field of Scripture. If you win Tfim, you are rich and wise for ever. If you win Him not, all other wealth is penury: all other knowledge is a brilliant folly. Act on this soul-saving principle; and never close the sacred pages, until you are cheered by the smile of Him, who is the smile of heaven. Come, then, and with holy longings after the light of life, let us contemplate the Ark. Jesus is there in all the glories of redeeming love. "Make thee an ark of gopher wood."--Here is no human forethought. It is a voice from heaven. But for what purpose? The reply pencils the dark back-ground, on which the bright features...

Book excerpt: The Bible is simply a love letter compiled into sixty-six books and written over a period ofsixteen hundred years by more than forty authors living on three continents. Although theauthors came from different backgrounds, there is one message, one theme, one thread that runs throughout the entire Bible from the first book, Genesis, to the last book, Revelation. That message is God's redeeming love for mankind--a message that is as relevant for us today as it was two thousand years ago.The Pentateuch was most likely written by one man, Moses. It consists of the books ofGenesis, Exodus, Leviticus, Numbers, and Deuteronomy and is also known as the Law,the Torah (Hebrew for "Law"), or the Law of Moses. These books are the first fivebooks of the seventeen Historical Books of the Old Testament and are foundationalfor the rest of the Bible. One book easily flows into another, developing biblical historyfrom Creation to about 1500 BC as well as the history of Israel from the call ofAbraham through the death of Moses. Here you will meet Adam, Noah, Abraham,Isaac, Jacob and his twelve sons, Moses, Aaron, and Joshua. You will travel from theGarden of Eden to Ur, Haran, Canaan, and Egypt, through the Red Sea, and on toMount Sinai. But the center of every book in The Pentateuch is God Almighty. Your adventure withHim will begin in the first sentence of the first book, and from there on it is a wild rideas He intervenes on behalf of men and women throughout history. You will witness Hisawesome power in Genesis, His desire to bring His children into liberty in Exodus, Hisperfect holiness in Leviticus, His justice in Numbers, and His faithfulness inDeuteronomy. You will be humbled by His mercy, awed by His compassion, frightenedby His wrath, and wooed by His loving-kindness. And in every book you will come tosee that Jesus Christ is concealed, ready to be revealed in the New Testament

Judaism the Foundation of Christianity The Feast of Pentecost Overview of Old Testament References to Christ God's Plan for Israel Changed?- The Spiritual Israel of the Kingdom of God The Ten Commandments and More What the Old Testament Means to Us Today The name of this book is The Books of Moses and More -A Christian Perspective. The books of Moses are the first five books of the Jewish and Christian. They are Genesis, Exodus, Leviticus, Numbers and Deuteronomy. In the Hebrew Bible they are collectively known as the "Torah." The Torah books have been collectively defined as books of "instruction or teaching," which is the literal interpretation of "Torah." However the Torah has been collectively referred to as "The Law" or "The Law of Moses." In Greek, those first five books are known as the Pentateuch. In the Septuagint Greek version of the Old Testament Bible (LXX) they are called "Law" after the Greek word nomos. Disregarding the arguments that Moses was not the author of these books (the general consensus is that he is the author) the Books present a record of the greatest manifestation of God on the earth before Christ. The acts, ways and personality of God are portrayed no better than in these books. They highlights His personality are: His love, kindness, mercy, flexibility, jealous anger and the fact that He will stop at nothing until He has a people for His own possession. The books in Moses portray a meek and humble man called to a task greater than himself. God called him the most humble man on the face of the earth. Moses, according to the record, spoke face to face with God. This is the most unique example of God moving through a frail human vessel (excluding Christ). In return for his courage and humility God performed great and wonderful acts through him. God did not move sovereignly but through this man. This is always, to the present day, the way God moves. "Surely the Lord GOD does nothing Unless He reveals His secret counsel To His servants the prophets" (Amos 3:7). Moses knew the Lord. He knew both His acts and His ways, which set him apart from the peoples he served. "He made known His ways to Moses, His acts [not His ways] to the sons of Israel" (Psalm 103:7). Consider the acts done by God through Moses. He delivered a nation of hundreds of thousands of people from the most powerful nation on the earth at the time (Egypt). At the same time God judged the gods of Egypt so that Egypt as a nation never returned to its former glory. He established arguably the greatest form of government known at the time. It was the first, and only, workable theocracy, governed by one God. Moses stood between God and the people. Many times God, in His jealous anger, meant to destroy the entire nation. However, time after time, Moses changed His mind. In the book of Genesis the lineage of the nation of Israel (and eventually Christ), is followed from Abraham, to Isaac and finally J
