Book Christ in Type and Prophecy Vol 2 Classic Reprint

Download or read book Christ in Type and Prophecy Vol 2 Classic Reprint written by A. J. Maas and published by Forgotten Books. This book was released on 2018-02-07 with total page 522 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Excerpt from Christ in Type and Prophecy, Vol. 2 6. Verse 3 settles the question as to the subject Of the chapter; for in it salvation is no longer predicted but has effectually come to pass. A mere prophet might foretell but could not effect Messianic salvation, which is peculiar to the Messias alone. That the Messias is the subject Of the predictions follows also from the connection of Oh. Lxi. With the preceding ones, SO that the possibility Of a mere prophetic reference is excluded. Again, in the fourth verse we have various predictions that are repetitions Of preceding Messianic prophecies. And Since these predic tions have reference to the time of the Messias, it follows that we cannot interpret ch. Lxi. As referring literally to Isaias and the return from the captivity, and only typically to Christ. About the Publisher Forgotten Books publishes hundreds of thousands of rare and classic books. Download or read book Christ in Type and Prophecy Vol 1 Classic Reprint written by A. J. Maas and published by . This book was released on 2015-07-13 with total page 510 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Excerpt from Christ in Type and Prophecy, Vol. 1 When St. Luke tells us (Acts xi. 26) that "at Antioch the disciples were first named Christians," he implies that they were Christians before they bore the name. If Christian means a believer in Christ, all that have ever believed in the Messias - the Hebrew equivalent for Christ - have been Christians. And since "there is no other name under heaven given to men whereby we must be saved" (Acts iv. 12), all that have been saved from Adam to Noe, from Noe to Abraham, from Abraham to Moses, from Moses to Jesus Christ, and from Jesus Christ to our own day, have been Christians, or believers in the Messias. It does not follow from this that the Messianic dispensation has been at a standstill ever since the time of Adam. As the sunlight has its dawn, its increase, and its noonday brightness, illumining the whole earth, so has the Sun of Justice his dawn immediately after the fall of our first parents, his increase under the dispensations of the four great mediators of the Old Testament, and his noonday brightness on Thabor, Calvary, and. Mount Olivet, whence he "enlighteneth every man that cometh into this world" (John i. 9). It is the object of the present work to study the rise and progress and supreme splendor of this Light of the World from the inspired sources supplied by God's own goodness and infinite wisdom. The Subject is as many-sided as it is important and interesting. About the Publisher Forgotten Books publishes hundreds of thousands of rare and classic books. Book The Spirit of Prophecy Vol 2

Download or read book The Spirit of Prophecy Vol 2 written by Ellen Gould White and published by . This book was released on 2015-07-19 with total page 404 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Excerpt from The Spirit of Prophecy, Vol. 2: The Great Controversy Between Christ and Satan; Life, Teachings and Miracles of Our Lord Jesus Christ When the Publishers issued the first volume of this work, they felt that it supplied a want long realized by the Christian world, in illuminating a subject which is of great interest to the Christian mind, the relation of the Son of God to the Father, and his position in Heaven, together with the fall of man and the Mediatorship of Christ between him and his Creator. In this second volume the author continues with renewed interest the subject of the mission of Christ, as manifested by his Miracles and Teachings. The reader will find that this book furnishes invaluable aid in studying the lessons of Christ set forth in the Gospels. The author, as a religious writer and speaker, has labored for the public during more than twenty years. Being aided in the study of the Scriptures, and in her work as a religious teacher, by the special enlightenment of the Spirit of God, she is peculiarly qualified to present the facts of the Life and Ministry of Christ, in connection with the divine plan of human redemption, and to practically apply the lessons of Jesus to the simple duties of life. One of the most pleasing features of this book is the plain and simple language with which the author clothes thoughts that glow with truth and beauty. Book excerpt: Excerpt from The Life of Christ, Vol. 2: Close of the Ministry, and Passion Week Then the disciples understood that he Spake unto them of John the Baptist. But did they understand that in his answer to their inquiry our Lord alluded to another, a future coming of Elias, of which that of the Baptist was but a type or a prelude, as well as to another, a future coming of the Son of man with which it was to be connected? Many think that not obscurely, such an allusion lay in the words which Christ employed, and that it is in the two advents, each prefaced with its appropriate precursorage, that the full and va ried language of ancient prophecy receives alone its fit and adequate accomplishment. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Excerpt from Christ's Second Coming The Word of God has long been abused by its friends, who, by their piece-meal use of it, have made it an arsenal for battle, rather than a tree of life for enlightenment. The age has waited patiently for the appearance of a man, and of a certain disposition, who would deliver the Bible from textual narrowness, and connect it up with large areas of its uncovered truths. Such a new Bible light visits us in this present treatise, and it will compel a newer and larger alignment of Bible thought upon the subject it covers. Book The Divine Key of the Revelation of Jesus Christ as Given to John the Seer of Patmos Vol 2

This book was released on 2017-10-14 with total page 540 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Excerpt from The Divine Key of the Revelation of Jesus Christ as Given to John, the Seer of Patmos, Vol. 2: Being an Analytical Exposition of the Visions of Its Last Eleven Chapters II. Daniel wrote some years later than Habakkuk, and gave detail, periods and data which have furnished the Church and the prophetic world with the antitypical tables, and made plain many parts of the vision. III. The Revelation followed the same general lines, added new detail, repeated the periods and gave further data, perfecting and making more legible the tables, so that in our day they are very plain to every interested, patient reader. Thus the history Of the Messiah - so far as it is mea sured by the cycles of time, - and Of the Antichrist, that for more than twelve and a half centuries opposed His work, and scattered and desolated both the Church and the nations, have been hung up in public by the Prophets, and in the temple by the Church, for the inspection of every passer by. The last century, specially, has added the spectacle of many running with the glorious messages of the work and new victories of Christ, and the increasing desolation and hastening destruction of the Antichrist, and all that those things mean to the Church and to the world. This book was released on 2017-01-07 with total page 404 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Excerpt from Lectures on the Second Coming and Kingdom of the Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ The day dawn, and the day - star arise in your hearts. This does not mean till the day of the Lord Jesus shine upon the world. Such an interpretation de stroys the entire value of this part of the sentence; indeed, it leads souls into, and leaves them under, the confusion of the Christian hope with the prophetic word Prophecy, it is intimated, is good, and to be heeded; but then there is something better still. You are quite right in profiting by it. Christianity, and that hope which it puts before the soul, in no wise impairs the worth of the ancient oracles, but rather confirms them, as we surely know; but then Christianity does bring in not only a more blessedly revealed and known foundation for the soul, not only a higher walk for the believer now, but as the foundation becomes deeper and enlarged, as the walk becomes more heavenly, so does the h0pe proportionately rise and brighten. Therefore he says, until the day dawn, and the day-star arise in your hea Indeed, it is never said that the dv star rises upon the world, nor could it have any just sense. It is really a question of the heart, and of daylight dawning, and the day-star arising there. Is it not evident that the power of the Holy Ghost is meant, the Christian now to lay hold of the hope proper to him, as one belonging to Christ in heaven? When the believer is led by grace into his due place of liberty as a Christian, the light which shines round about him is no mere glimmering of a. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Excerpt from Sermons on the Second Advent of the Lord Jesus Christ In committing these Sermons to the press again, after the lapse of thirty years, the Author is more and more confirmed in his convictions, that the revealed truth of the Second Coming of Jesus Christ is the grand desideratum in the present conflicts of the true Church of God in this land. Members, and prominent members, of our National Church have departed more and more from "the simplicity of Christ" as rescued from the traditions of men by our Reformers, and expressed in the natural grammatical meaning of our Thirty-nine Articles. This departure has been on both sides, and to extremes. On the one side, to the meretricious arts and contrivances and ornamentations of "the strange woman," who is content to remain without her absent Husband; and on the other side, to the philosophic pride which is "willingly ignorant" of what the lord Jesus is, and did, at His first coming; and asks, with scoffing scorn, "Where is the promise of His coming" again? This book was released on 2018-01-19 with total page 262 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Excerpt from Essays on the Advent and Kingdom of Christ, and the Events Connected Therewith I. The questionable propriety of studying and of discussing prophecy, especially unfulfilled prophecy, is one of those objec tions, which must be met in the outset.* It chiefly consists in the alleged impossibility of understanding or judging of a pro phecy, until tlze event has proved its meaning. But how con trary is this to the experience of the Church! Promise, the greater portion of which is unfulfilled prophecy, is declared in the New Testament to be a principal means whereby we are made partakers of the Divine Nature b which could not be, were it entirely vague and indefinable and under the Old Testament dispensation, the Church was chiefly sustained and nourished by prophecy most of the burning and shining lights raised up in it being prophets. The very first promise, that the seed of the woman should bruise the head of the serpent, was an unfulfilled prophecy, to which the Church took heed for 4000 years. Noah prepared his ark, moved by the fear of an unfulfilled prophecy or promise and Abraham saw afar off and rejoiced in the day of Christ by means of another. Joseph would not have directed his bones to be removed, had he not depended on prophecy for the going out of his people to which prophecy the Lord afterwards referred Moses and Aaron, as the pledge, that he would redeem them. The Is raelites were encouraged to labour for their deliverance from captivity, by the prophecy concerning 'it: for as Jeremiah had prayed for and obtained an understanding of the restoration of his people, when they were about to be led into captivity C so Daniel understood the times from the study of the writings of Jeremiah d just as the faithful were afterwards waiting for the Consolation of Israel from the study (as is presumed) of the book of Daniel. It was through attention to unfulfilled prophecy, that the Christians left Jerusalem and escaped to the mountain, when the city was beseiged by the Romans and the Lord hath, equally for our admonition, foretold the signs of that greater destruction, of which the overthrow of Jerusalem was but a type.
