It interconnected the past to the present and together, the bond operates as a linkage toward the future. Their device was genius and the dialect was sheer brilliance. Book The Big Deal of Taking Small Steps to Move Closer to God

Download or read book The Big Deal of Taking Small Steps to Move Closer to God written by Vashti McKenzie and published by FaithWords. This book was released on 2017-05-16 with total page 209 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: THE BIG DEAL... shows how to develop a stronger relationship with God and more effective spiritual lifestyle by taking small steps that lead to big changes. Been running for Jesus a long time (I'm not tired yet) Been singing for Jesus a long time (I'm not tired yet) Been running by day and praying by night (I'm not tired yet) I've gotta get going, it's a mighty hard fight (No...I'm not tired yet) I've been serving God a long time (I'm not tired yet) I've been living for God a long time (I'm not tired yet) I've been praying to the Lord a long time (I'm not tired yet) It's an uphill journey but all I've got to say is (I'm not tired yet) The old spiritual song lifts you, but you are tired. Or maybe you're bored. You're still going to church. You're still praying. You're still serving. You're still giving. Deep within you, faith remains. But you feel a longing. You're not seeking fireworks. You're not a pew-sitter, safe in some spiritual comfort zone, looking for a thrill from the Lord. Your trust in God is secure. But you feel a longing for something more, deeper, fresher. If you've ignored these innermost feelings thinking they're no big deal, this basic yet dynamic program that Bishop Vashti McKenzie has implemented in more than two hundred churches with astounding results is for you. Individuals who have had many years of Christian life discovered a renewed sense of calling and purpose. Even new believers were invigorated in their faith-building process. Bishop McKenzie prescribes very small changes-such as adding a mere thirty seconds of prayer daily-that lead to radical closeness to God. And building an enjoyable, meaningful relationship with the Almighty doesn't mean striving for perfection. Small steps-but meaningful steps-collectively evolve into intimacy with God. And the big deal result is greater ability to biblically address life challenges. The big deal is that you're even more available to serve family, church, and community: truly in "no ways tired." Increasing spirituality is incremental, not monumental. Mustard-seed-like increases in positive actions (and corresponding decreases in negative ones) yield mountain-moving growth!

Through all our tests, trials, and tribulations, God will carry us. God is faithful. He has already paved the way for us, to end our daily suffering and struggles. When all hope is gone, allow the Spirit of God, to pour His water upon your thirsty soul. Be encouraged, Jesus Christ is the potter, and we are His delicate clay, and by His infinite power, will put all of the broken pieces of our lives, together again. God will command His blessings to locate and overtake us. Every day is a new beginning for us to have faith and believe that God is able and capable to do great things, beyond our expectations, dreams, and desires. Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies and God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our tribulations that we may be able to comfort those who are in any trouble, with the comfort with which we ourselves are comforted by God (2 Corinthians 1:3""4).

Book The Lyrics of Civility

    Book Details:
  • Author : Kenneth Bielen
  • Publisher : Routledge
  • Release : 2016-01-20
  • ISBN : 1317713516
  • Pages : 238 pages

Download or read book The Lyrics of Civility written by Kenneth Bielen and published by Routledge. This book was released on 2016-01-20 with total page 238 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book is the first comprehensive scholarly study of religious images in popular music. Examining bestsellers from 1906 to 1971, the work explores the role religious images have in the secularization of American culture. Popular music lyrics that express an adherence to a sacred order are couched in inoffensive, content-less language. These lyrics of civility reflect and shape the increasing secularization of American culture in the twentieth century. The analysis focuses primarily on the way these lyrics reduce the meaning of the terms and theology of the Biblical faith. The aesthetic of civility carries over into theology, the narratives, and the accompanying instrumental arrangements of songs that adhere to the Biblical sacred order. On the other hand, lyrics that reject the Biblical tradition use content-filled, offensive language. The result is that displaced adherents withdraw from the Biblical tradition and turn to alternative cultural religions, or idols of attraction, including popular music, that offer meaning to fill a void in the individual. The secularization of American society, therefore, is not a withdrawal from the idea of religion itself. The analysis focuses on the two dominant themes in songs that include religious images: prayer and heaven. The author explores the songs of the two world wars, the hit parade era, the rhythm and blues and doo-wop of the 1950s, the new folk singer movement, soul music and rock music of the 1960s, and the revival rock of the early 1970s. The work demonstrates the capacity of one form of popular culture to separate adherents from a subculture through diluting the meaning of the language of the subculture's elemental thought. (Ph.D. dissertation, Bowling Green State University, 1994; revised with new preface, bibliography, and index)

Book Evangelical Theology

    Book Details:
  • Author : Michael F. Bird
  • Publisher : Zondervan Academic
  • Release : 2013-10-29
  • ISBN : 0310494427
  • Pages : 1067 pages

Download or read book Evangelical Theology written by Michael F. Bird and published by Zondervan Academic. This book was released on 2013-10-29 with total page 1067 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Evangelical Theology is a systematic theology written from the perspective of a biblical scholar. Michael F. Bird contends that the center, unity, and boundary of the evangelical faith is the evangel (= gospel), as opposed to things like justification by faith or inerrancy. The evangel is the unifying thread in evangelical theology and the theological hermeneutic through which the various loci of theology need to be understood. Using the gospel as a theological leitmotif—an approach to Christian doctrine that begins with the gospel and sees each loci through the lens of the gospel—this text presents an authentically evangelical theology, as opposed to an ordinary systematic theology written by an evangelical theologian. According to the author, theology is the drama of gospelizing—performing and living out the gospel in the theatre of Christian life. The text features tables, sidebars, and questions for discussion. The end of every part includes a “What to Take Home” section that gives students a run-down on what they need to know. And since reading theology can often be dry and cerebral, the author applies his unique sense of humor in occasional “Comic Belief” sections so that students may enjoy their learning experience through some theological humor added for good measure.

Book Is It Really Just a Small World

Download or read book Is It Really Just a Small World written by Sandra Boyce Ghost and published by WestBow Press. This book was released on 2011-06-07 with total page 333 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: When two neighbors who live in Bucksnort, Tennessee unexpectedly meet in New York City, they usually say the same thing, Well, its a small world! This seems to be the phrase that always accompanies a remarkable coincidence. But what if it isnt coincidence at all? What if these extreme happenings could be orchestrated by God, to get our attention, to further His plan for our lives, or as some kind of heavenly protection? Have doubts about that? Well, Is It Really Just A Small World? promises to show one coincidence after another, all laced together in the life of one woman with the love of a heavenly valentine. The autobiography of Sandra Ghost reads like a page-turning soap opera when as a teen she tries to swim upstream in a troubled home life and uses marriage as an escape from the parental river of alcohol. Physical abuse ends this union and a second marriage promises all her dreams will come true, until she finds herself desperately trying to win her new husbands approval to no avail. She feels planted in the country with the crops and a newborn baby, and tries to imitate the housewives on TV, submissively trying to just tie a starched apron around her troubled mind. In a fluke of circumstances, Sandy is thrust into singing onstage. This occurrence blossoms into a surprising career as a nightclub entertainer with bookings all over the US and Canada, appearances on television, plus a recording contract. And this is when the miracles begin to happen... So, fasten your spiritual seat belt, get prepared for the ups and downs of a heavenly roller coaster ride that will leave you breathless with what the world would deem to be remarkable coincidences. (While this autobiography is told with humor and candor, it reflects solid and astonishing answers to prayer. When there are encounters with others whose stories of miracles also cross the path of the author, she has included affidavits by those involved to speak of the veracity of the episode.)

Book Walking out of Poverty

Download or read book Walking out of Poverty written by Bishop Al Jones and published by Xlibris Corporation. This book was released on 2023-07-28 with total page 241 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: My book, Walking Out of Poverty, has been a long time in writing. As you read my story, you will understand my objectives. I was born out of American slavery. I have been down in the valley for a long time, but today I am on the mountaintop. I have completed my book. My book tells stories of my learned knowledge, my thoughts, and my trying and experiences in life. This was a God-given task from the start. I wanted to share my valuable lessons learned in life with others. I want them to be beneficial to others. I went back to school and got my bachelor’s degree in theology. I learned of a new walk of life. For we have many godly promises and the gift of salvation. We have a divine right to the riches of life. We have a right to be on the other side of poverty. We can have the things that we need or want. We must learn how to accomplish our objectives. Then we will reach a level of success and fulfillment.
