Austin Clyde L. Austin Jr. Born and raised in South Bend, Indiana, Clyde is the fifth of nine children. When he was in the sixth grade, he wrote his first short story titled the land of the unborn dogs. His teacher was very impressed with the story, however; she did not believe that he possessed the ability to create such an imaginative and creative story. After the experience of being discredited, Clyde laid down his pencil never to write another story. Over the years, he has told many stories while in high school and serving in the military to entertain his army buddies. After the military, he told stories to children when he was a day-camp counselor in the early eighties. In 1988, Clyde answered the call of God and entered the preaching ministry. Right away his ability to tell stories and his sermon writing revealed the talent that was tucked away. In 1993 after being in the preaching ministry for five years, Clyde entered college and earned a B.A. degree in Bible and Ministries from Bethel University, a liberal arts college in Mishawaka, Indiana. The author of the hip-hop Gospel "Choir Boy", Clyde has discovered that the Gospel message of Jesus cannot and should not be limited to the pulpits on Sunday mornings packaged in three-point sermons.

Records of English Court Music (a series of seven volumes covering the period 1485-1714) is the first attempt to compile a systematic calendar of such references. It aims to revise these earlier studies where necessary, adding significant details which researchers omitted, clarifying the context of documents and substituting current call-marks for defunct references. Volume V is primarily concerned with the post-Restoration years already partially covered in volumes I and II. The material from the Exchequer and Declared Accounts of the Treasurer of the Chamber has been revised to include references to trumpeters and drummers. Other sections are devoted to material outside the Lord Chamberlain's papers: the Signet Office Docquet Books, Secret Service accounts and more from the Exchequer; the Corporation of Musick (controlled by the Court musicians) and to the range of music material from accounts of the Receivers General. Samples from the comprehensive records of the Lord Steward's department (including those of the Cofferer of the Household) are also provided. Andrew Ashbee was the winner of the Oldman Prize in 1987 for Volume II in the series of 'Records of English Court Music', awarded by the UK branch of the International Association of Music Libraries for the year's best book on music librarianship, bibliography and reference.

Also important as a theorist, his Syntagma Musicum, penned around 1619, was originally planned in four parts. He completed only three, with the first discussing the place of music in the church, while Volume II focused on musical instruments. Volume III deals with terminology, theoretical issues, and performance practice. More than any other source from this period, Volume III provides the most thorough coverage of performance practice issues of the late sixteenth and early seventeenth centuries. It offers detailed commentary about the performance of particular pieces of music, including many of Praetorius's own, as well as those by Lassus, Gabrieli, Monteverdi, and Schütz.
