Book Germany and China

Download or read book Germany and China written by Andreas Fulda and published by Bloomsbury Publishing. This book was released on 2024-05-30 with total page 178 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: As Europe finds itself once again caught between two superpowers – the USA and a rising China – little has been written about a relationship that will have a profound influence on the international order: the relationship between the People's Republic of China and Germany. In Germany and China, leading international relations expert Andreas Fulda looks critically at the increasingly interdependent relationship between the two countries. Drawing on examples from politics, industry, development aid and technology sectors and academia, the book explores how successive governments from Helmut Kohl to Angela Merkel have pursued ever-closer ties to China in the interests of short term economic gain. Fulda explores the danger of this increasing entanglement not just for Germany, but for Europe and the international world order.

The editors and contributors examine the existing programs and strategies for cultural interchange, and analyse how these shape or have shaped intercultural dialogue, and what kind of intercultural exchange is encouraged. Book France and Germany in the South China Sea c 1840 1930

Download or read book France and Germany in the South China Sea c 1840 1930 written by Bert Becker and published by Springer Nature. This book was released on 2021-07-02 with total page 484 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book explores imperial power and the transnational encounters of shipowners and merchants in the South China Sea from 1840 to 1930. With British Hong Kong and French Indochina on its northern and western shores, the ‘Asian Mediterranean’ was for almost a century a crucible of power and an axis of economic struggle for coastal shipping companies from various nations. Merchant steamers shipped cargoes and passengers between ports of the region. Hong Kong, the global port city, and the colonial ports of Saigon and Haiphong developed into major hubs for the flow of goods and people, while Guangzhouwan survived as an almost forgotten outpost of Indochina. While previous research in this field has largely remained within the confines of colonial history, this book uses the examples of French and German companies operating in the South China Sea to demonstrate the extent to which transnational actors and business networks interacted with imperial power and the process of globalisation.

Book German Chinese M A Transactions in the SME Sector

Download or read book German Chinese M A Transactions in the SME Sector written by Daniel Graewe and published by Springer Nature. This book was released on 2023-03-25 with total page 143 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: M&A transactions are significantly more complex processes than the mere purchase and sale of goods - SMEs can quickly find themselves in unfamiliar territory - especially when it comes to multi-layered activities with players from completely different cultures, especially from China, as Germany's largest foreign trade partner. The need for knowledge in practice is correspondingly great. This edited volume therefore brings together, on a theoretical basis, the practical knowledge needed for the successful planning, implementation and integration of German-Chinese corporate takeovers in the SME sector. After a compact presentation of the economic background, cultural aspects of negotiation and regulatory framework conditions, the course of corporate transactions and their German-Chinese peculiarities are dealt with in detail. The book concludes with a guide to the core aspects of such transactions and an exemplary presentation of case studies. In generally understandable language and well illustrated, the success factors as well as possible stumbling blocks are revealed. A clearly structured and cleverly formulated handbook that every player should have at hand.

Book Trust in German Chinese Business Cooperation

Download or read book Trust in German Chinese Business Cooperation written by Edgar Klinger and published by Walter de Gruyter GmbH & Co KG. This book was released on 2024-06-17 with total page 170 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: What makes international joint ventures successful? Among other key success factors such as strategic fit, material and political-relational incentives, and the cultural compatibility of the joint venture partners, the role of one factor in the successful establishment and management of joint ventures is critical: the mutual trust among the managers involved. This book explores how to establish, develop, and continue to nurture mutual trust between the managers of German and Chinese joint ventures. A series of guided interviews conducted by the authors reveals assessments of Chinese and European executives about their mutual trust in the context of the cultural differences between the two countries, the worldviews characterizing China and Germany, and their impact on the behavior of their executives. The authors then use these judgements from the interviews to make recommendations for action to build more successful cooperation in German-Chinese business cooperation in future joint enterprises. Trust in German-Chinese Business Cooperation is essential reading for managers of international companies and students of business management, business psychology and intercultural management.

Part 2 describes the Chinese innovation concept Made in China 2025 within different economic sectors in China and discusses to what extent Industry 4.0 might be considered its role model. Part 3 presents the opportunities and challenges of digitalization and big data from a regional perspective. Book Chinese Thought in Early German Enlightenment from Leibniz to Goethe

Download or read book Chinese Thought in Early German Enlightenment from Leibniz to Goethe written by Břetislav Horyna and published by BRILL. This book was released on 2023-05-25 with total page 236 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book is a philosophical-historical examination of the influence of the knowledge of China imparted by the Jesuits on the thinking of the German Enlightenment in the 18th century. It is not primarily concerned with a comprehensive reconstruction of the philosophy of the thinkers discussed, but rather with the political and intellectual contextualisation of a line of thought that recognised the practical philosophy and state organisation of China as different from that of Europe, while equal to it and in some respects superior to it. This challenged the claim of theology that Christian revelation alone provided access to truth. The volume analyses the opposition to this line of thought, especially on the part of Protestant orthodoxy. It argues that in the German Enlightenment of the 18th century, the possibility emerged to conceive philosophy on the basis of reason as a phenomenon not limited to Europe but as a path followed under different conditions in China.

Book True Sale Securitization in Germany and China

Download or read book True Sale Securitization in Germany and China written by Shengzhe Wang and published by diplom.de. This book was released on 2005-05-02 with total page 78 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Inhaltsangabe:Abstract: The Master thesis for LL.M. at Goethe university s ILF titled True Sale Securitization in Germany and China is a comparative study about true sale securitization. The initial reason for a comparative study was the similarity of banking centred financial systems in these two countries. Another reason is connected with the True Sale Initiative (TSI), a plan composed by major German banks aiming at improving their financial situation. German banks start to be plagued by the non-performing loans (NPLs) since 2001 due to mediocre performance of German corporations and depreciation of banks investment to the east part during 1990s. Facing the competitions from other countries and under pressures from the International Convergence of Capital Measurement and Capital Standards: a Revised Framework (Basel II) issued by the Basel Committee on Banking and Supervisory Practice (Basel Committee) at the Bank for International Settlements, the German banks employed the TSI as one part of the bigger financial reform to regain competition in Europe and worldwide. December 2004, the first true sale securitization was successfully constructed in Germany after German federal government changed some of its formerly unfriendly legal, taxation and accounting rules. The German experiences with TSI can shed some light into how China to develop its asset-backed securities (ABS) market in order to save its heavy NPLs-burdened banks and find alternative funds for its corporations. Although securitization might be a possible solution, the Chinese current legal system and market infrastructure prevents it from fully utilizing this modern financing technique. What China can learn from Germany s experiences is, that a special securitization law is preferred to amending each relevant laws and rules in order to get rid of legal barriers and contradictions for true sale securitizations. In addition, strong governmental supports will facilitate and accelerate the process of true sale securitization market development. The similarities between the German and Chinese financial system is the main incentive for this study. Both Germany and China have a financial system that is dominated by banks and at the same time features a weak capital market. Banks are the main external financing sources for domestic corporations. Furthermore, in both countries banks are suffering losses and carrying burden of non-performing loans (NPLs), due to the bad [...]

Book Cooperation and Technological Endowment in International Joint Ventures German Firms in China

Download or read book Cooperation and Technological Endowment in International Joint Ventures German Firms in China written by Michael Hoeck and published by Springer. This book was released on 2019-02-02 with total page 278 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A frequent choice for market entry to China is the international joint venture (IJV) with a Chinese partner. This is regarded as an adequate market entry if complex technological knowledge is to be transferred to the new location. However, IJVs also represent an easy way for local partners to absorb technological knowledge without authorization. Michael Hoeck investigates the character and the degree of technology transfer into IJVs, using the example of German industrial firms in China. The two central questions that are investigated are „What factors influence the sophistication of the technological endowment that an IJV in China receives from its German parents?“ and „In what way do strategic considerations regarding inter-firm cooperation and knowledge sharing influence the foreign investor’s technology transfer behaviour?“. The study results – derived from theoretical and empirical analysis – presents novel insights to both researchers and practitioners.

Book Chinese and Buddhist Philosophy in Early Twentieth Century German Thought

Download or read book Chinese and Buddhist Philosophy in Early Twentieth Century German Thought written by Eric S. Nelson and published by Bloomsbury Publishing. This book was released on 2017-08-24 with total page 288 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Presenting a comprehensive portrayal of the reading of Chinese and Buddhist philosophy in early twentieth-century German thought, Chinese and Buddhist Philosophy in Early Twentieth-Century German Thought examines the implications of these readings for contemporary issues in comparative and intercultural philosophy. Through a series of case studies from the late 19th-century and early 20th-century, Eric Nelson focuses on the reception and uses of Confucianism, Daoism, and Buddhism in German philosophy, covering figures as diverse as Buber, Heidegger, and Misch. He argues that the growing intertextuality between traditions cannot be appropriately interpreted through notions of exclusive identities, closed horizons, or unitary traditions. Providing an account of the context, motivations, and hermeneutical strategies of early twentieth-century European thinkers' interpretation of Asian philosophy, Nelson also throws new light on the question of the relation between Heidegger and Asian philosophy. Reflecting the growing interest in the possibility of intercultural and global philosophy, Chinese and Buddhist Philosophy in Early Twentieth-Century German Thought opens up the possibility of a more inclusive intercultural conception of philosophy.

Book Britain France West Germany and the People s Republic of China 1969 1982

Download or read book Britain France West Germany and the People s Republic of China 1969 1982 written by Martin Albers and published by Springer. This book was released on 2016-12-01 with total page 341 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book focuses on helping readers to fill the gap of the little known history between Western Europe and its most important trading partner: the People’s Republic of China. Inspired by the economic and political signifance of Sino-European relations, this book shows how the China policies of the three biggest states of Western Europe – Britain, France, and the Federal Republic of Germany – helped China reintegrate into the international community in the 1970s. Against the background of the Cold War, the end of Maoism, and the emergence of globalization, the governments in Bonn, Paris and London had to find ways of dealing with Europe’s declining influence and promote their own national interests in Asia. Based on newly declassified government files, readers will find such sources invaluable in understanding the argument that, despite pursuing very different policies, the three governments supported a rapid expansion of peaceful exchange between the People’s Republic and Europe and substantially contributed to the success of Beijing's reform policy.
