Children exposed to domestic violence experience a variety of behavioral, emotional, and cognitive problems. Children who have witnessed domestic violence can suffer from a number of problems with short-term and long-term detrimental effects. Treatment programs in play and art therapy can offer interventions that help relieve children of the burden of living with the trauma of domestic violence and give them the tools to healthfully cope well into the future. The purpose of this grant is to offer a child-centered program in play and art therapy as an extension of the Single Parents of Power Agency in Los Angeles, California, which currently offers services to adults who have experienced domestic violence. The grant writer selected the U.S. federal Family Violence Prevention and Services Discretionary Grant to fund this program. The actual submission and/or funding of this grant was not required for the successful completion of the project.
