Book Facing Cyber Threats Head On

Download or read book Facing Cyber Threats Head On written by Brian Minick and published by Rowman & Littlefield. This book was released on 2017-01-12 with total page 127 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: News breaks all the time that hackers have attacked another company. Media outlets regularly cover cyber events. The President issues executive orders, and Congress explores cyber legislation. With all these events happening, business leaders must ask: what does this mean for my business and me? Facing Cyber Threats Head On looks at cyber security from a business leader perspective. By avoiding deep technical explanations of “how” and focusing on the “why” and “so what,” this book guides readers to a better understanding of the challenges that cyber security presents to modern business, and shows them what they can do as leaders to solve these challenges. Facing Cyber Threats Head On explains that technology is not the answer to cyber security issues. People, not technology, are behind emerging cyber risks. Understanding this brings to light that cyber protection is not a battle of technology against technology, but people against people. Based on this, a new approach is required—one that balances business risk with the cost of creating defenses that can change as quickly and often as attackers can. Readers will find here a ready resource for understanding the why and how of cyber risks, and will be better able to defend themselves and their businesses against them in the future.

Book The Genius Checklist

    Book Details:
  • Author : Dean Keith Simonton
  • Publisher : MIT Press
  • Release : 2019-11-12
  • ISBN : 0262537958
  • Pages : 337 pages

Download or read book The Genius Checklist written by Dean Keith Simonton and published by MIT Press. This book was released on 2019-11-12 with total page 337 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: What it takes to be a genius: nine essential and contradictory ingredients. What does it take to be a genius? A high score on an IQ test? Brilliant physicist Richard Feynman's IQ was too low for membership in Mensa. Suffering from varying degrees of mental illness? Creativity is often considered a marker of mental health. Be a child prodigy like Mozart, or a later bloomer like Beethoven? Die tragically young, like Keats, or live to a ripe old age like Goethe? In The Genius Checklist, Dean Keith Simonton examines the key factors in creative genius and finds that they are more than a little contradictory. Simonton, who has studied creativity and genius for more than four decades, draws on both scientific research and stories from the lives of famous creative geniuses that range from Isaac Newton to Vincent van Gogh to Virginia Woolf. He explains the origin of IQ tests and the art of estimating the IQ of long-dead historical figures (John Stuart Mill: 200; Charles Darwin: 160). He compares IQ scores with achieved eminence as measures of genius, and he draws a distinction between artistic and scientific genius. He rules out birth order as a determining factor (in the James family alone, three geniuses at three different birth-order positions: William James, firs-tborn; Henry James, second born; Alice James, born fifth and last); considers Malcolm Gladwell's 10,000 hour rule; and describes how the “lone” genius gets enmeshed in social networks. Genius, Simonton explains, operates in ways so subtle that they seem contradictory. Genius is born and made, the domain of child prodigies and their elders. Simonton's checklist gives us a new, integrative way to understand geniuses—and perhaps even to nurture your own genius!

Book CEO Chess Master or Gardener

Download or read book CEO Chess Master or Gardener written by Anil K. Khandelwal and published by Oxford University Press. This book was released on 2018-04-10 with total page 488 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Many problems of public sector banks in India are rooted in the legacy-driven culture of industrial relations (IR) and human resource (HR) management. These have inhibited the pace of internal reforms. This book presents ways in which the author, in his role as a CEO, and using insights gained during field research, undertook creative destruction of the legacy culture in IR/HR in Bank of Baroda. This was done through multiple initiatives, including reordering the pattern of IR management and game-changing innovations in employee engagement, eventually transforming the organisation into a valuable brand. The book illustrates the strategic role of CEOs in designing a new future for their organisations in the face of multiple challenges through harmonising the HR function with business. It also provides several insightful leadership lessons to top managements of large organisations to move from a narrowly focused HR culture to a broader HR paradigm consistent with the requirements of a competitive landscape.

Book My 60 Memorable Games

Download or read book My 60 Memorable Games written by Bobby Fischer and published by . This book was released on 1969 with total page 0 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This is an exact reproduction of the original 1969 classic work, "My 60 Memorable Games" by Bobby Fischer. Unfortunately, there have been many efforts by other authors and contributors to "improve" on Fischer's work by converting the text into algebraic notation and then correcting what they thought were mistakes in analysis. It turned out that what they thought were mistakes by Fischer were mistakes by themselves. Fischer's analysis was correct. Theirs was wrong. As a result, Fischer famously went on the radio to denounce those who claimed to have improved on his work. Even since his death, new editions have come out promising that there have been no changes from the original, but researchers have discovered hundreds of changes in the new editions that supposedly contain no changes. The book in your hands contains no changes at all on the inside of this book. Even a typo on the first page has been preserved.
