Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This slice of life vignette will inspire you to reach your goals and believe in yourself and the dreams you have. I embarked on my writing journey when I was a young lady residing in Connecticut. While there I had plenty of dreams of becoming an author, poet, and fine art photographer. My journey through life has allowed me to work as a freelance journalist and photographer. Owning my own business has led me to fulfill my goals of working as an editor, poet, consultant, and publisher of my work. As an educator and college professor/honors faculty member, I've had the priviledge of teaching many students. In addition to that, I've taught plenty of students to write creatively, and learn a foreign language or two through a variety of adult education programs. As a competitive writer and photographer, I've enjoyed the exhilarating rush I've felt after winning an award for my work. There's nothing like a cash award, ribbon, or certificate attached to a poem, photograph or an essay! I penned my first award winning poem as a sophomore while attending New Milford High School, New Milford, Connecticut. Right before my senior year began, we moved to Brookfield, Massachusetts. My last year of high school was at Tantasqua Regional Vocational High School in Sturbridge, Mass. While there I honed my award winning writing skills and continued to write competitively prior to my graduation. This book is penned to inspire everyone. I truly believe that each person has a story to tell, and can illustrate it with a nice photograph or two. To help with your creative ventures, I've penned a short writing guide to help you compose your writing. Everyone has a story to create, and you can begin composing yours today!

Book Mortal Musings Waiting for Dawn

Download or read book Mortal Musings Waiting for Dawn written by John Wait and published by BLKDOG Publishing. This book was released on 2020-05-23 with total page 512 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: For many of us, cancer is an inescapable reality. It is estimated that one in two people will be affected by the disease during their life. ‘Mortal Musings: Waiting for Dawn’ is a moving, thought-provoking and intensely personal account of one man’s journey. In October 2016 my indigestion turned out to be cancer. A few days later, the news got worse when it was discovered my cancer was not only rare and incurable, but it was Stage IV and I likely had only a few months to live. A death sentence like that naturally makes you think about your own mortality and what lies beyond. But I was not about to give in to the inevitable. I refused to believe in a no-win scenario. People say it is always darkest before the dawn, so I set about waiting for the sunrise. Being impatient, I did everything I could to hurry it along. Mortal Musings is about my fight -- physically, mentally and spiritually. It is about hope, faith and denial, how the cancer impacted my life and the lives of those around me, my treatments and the emotional struggle I endured. But it also delves into speculation about what lies ahead, beyond this mortal coil. That I am still here, three years later, is a miracle. That I am now cancer free is even more amazing. As Jimmy Valvano said, “don’t give up, don’t ever give up.” And I didn’t. **** “A must-read for anyone affected by this life-changing disease.” – Bethan White, Fade “A powerful testimony of how all of us must accept our own mortality.” – Richard Denham, Arthur: Shadow of a God

Book Magickal Musings of a Rogue Witch

Download or read book Magickal Musings of a Rogue Witch written by Cheryl Costa and published by Independently Published. This book was released on 2022-01-26 with total page 138 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Cheryl Costa has been practicing magick for decades. As she retires from teaching individuals, she decides to share her unconventional magickal style in this entertaining, readable book. This is not a list of spells and type of crystals to purchase, instead she explains how to seek within the self to tap and enhance your mystical powers. Magick is about shaping reality: the basic technique of magick is simple enough in theory. It only requires communicating our intention from our Talking Self to the Younger Self to the Great Consciousness (Higher Self) for manifestation. Magick isn't hard, and it isn't easy either. Practicing the art of magick requires training, focus, practice discipline and a flexibility to adapt. Ponder for a moment the idea that reality is a construct; therefore, it is bendable and malleable. Furthermore, consider that real life mystics have been massaging reality's pliable points using metaphysical techniques for millennia. Bear in mind that venerable lamas, yogis and seasoned magickal adepts while in deep meditation have been literally immersed in the art of manipulating the "machine code" of reality. Real magick is the Art of Bending Reality. The body of this book outlines a non-sectarian approach to practicing magick. Bright. Vivacious. Honest. Humorous. I have known Cheryl for over 30 years, and she never, ever disappoints. This masterpiece Magical Musings of a Rogue Witch is no exception. Her delivery is on-point, filled with wisdom and plain truth laced with that twinkle that only Cheryl can produce. This book will be required reading for all of my students." -Silver RavenWolf, Author of Solitary Witch -- The Ultimate Book of Shadows "A unique guide to the mechanics of magick written by a true Adept of the Craft. You'll find lots of valuable insights and information here that you won't see in other books. If you want to learn how to do real magick, get this book! Even the most experienced practitioners will pick up plenty of new tips and gain some interesting perspectives!" -Melanie Marquis, Author of Llewellyn's Little Book of Moon Spells "Approaching magic and witchcraft from a reverent, but common-sense perspective, Ms. Costa takes us back to square one of magical theory yet lays down a new roadmap to help us find our way. She deftly weaves science with accepted Craft theology to create a clear and precise guide that anyone, from novice to adept, can appreciate. Magickal Musings of a Rogue Witch is a true treasure." -Katrina Rasbold, Author of Energy Magic, Crossroads of Conjure, and Uncrossing. "Bravo! This is fantastic! Finally, the REAL heart and soul of the Craft! This book should be the go-to beginners' book for anyone who is interested in Witchcraft. This is a different way to look at Magick, the way everyone should look at Magick! On a scale of 1-10, I rate it a 13!" -Deb Johnson DeRousse, Magickal Adept - Paranormal & UFO Researcher. "Always thoughtful, always the maverick, always the spiritual seeker, Cheryl Costa brings her trenchant insights and years of magical experience to Magical Musings of a Rogue Witch. Her uncompromising approach to magical training is leavened with humor and a keen eye on human nature. She offers great advice for beginners and new paths of inquiry and praxis for more experienced witches." -Diotima Mantineia, Astrologer and Author of Touch the Earth, Kiss the Sky

Book excerpt: "Ema, give me your hand." These were the words Jesus spoke to Ema on Christmas Eve--the night He straightened her crooked foot, hand, neck, and spine, and restored her mobility. Easter weekend, eighteen years earlier, an ordinary workday turned into a nightmare when Ema McKinley passed out and was left hanging upside down in the storage room. Rather than improving, Ema's body became progressively bent and disfigured. Doctors diagnosed Ema with reflex sympathetic dystrophy (RSD), an extremely painful trauma-induced disease which led to Ema's hand and foot deformities, painful sores, insomnia, gastrological distress, curvature of the neck and spine, heart and lung failure, and permanent confinement to a wheelchair. Once an athletic, powerhouse woman with multiple jobs and volunteer positions, Ema became a modern-day Job who lost everything except her faith and desire to trust God more fully. Ema wrestled with pain, anger, and unforgiveness, but now takes the reader on a healing miracle encounter of Biblical proportions. Rush of Heaven will ignite readers' passion for Jesus and help them walk hand-in-hand with Him through life's darkness. It will open hearts to embrace the impossible. "Jesus gave me this miracle for you too!" -- Ema McKinley

Download or read book Woman Reclining written by Cheryl A. Martin and published by . This book was released on 2006-05 with total page 116 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Woman Reclining explores many facets of life that we experience every day. The poems inside cover topics that all of us can relate to whether it's the love we share towards one another, or the compassion towards an animal companion. My poetry teaches human values, whether I write about war or the spirituality that guides me and others each and every day.As an artist I study my art and write about it, and I write about art created by others. I find that expressing myself as a poet when I write about their work deeply challenges me, and pushes me to work hard to write compelling literature. For example, one of my award winning pieces, "Woman Reclining" was inspired by Donna Jackson's art through Artists Among Us 2005. She and numerous other artists enabled me to craft many poems about the human condition.I began my poetic journey as a high-school sophomore in New Milford High School in Connecticut many years ago. I find that writing defines my life and poetry gives me the ability to write creatively. I encourage you to read my book of poetry and find a piece of yourself in Woman Reclining.Writing My Book of Poetry is available on Amazon.com's shorts page. This non-fiction essay provides you, the reader with insightful information regarding the poetry that I included in my book of poetry, "Woman Reclining".http://myspace.com/authorcheryl, and facebook.com, Cheryl Vatcher-MartinMy poem , "More than 58,000 Names Etched", has won Honorable Mention in the Non-rhyming Poem category of the 76th Annual Writer's Digest Writing Competition! Book God and Elizabeth Bishop

Download or read book God and Elizabeth Bishop written by C. Walker and published by Springer. This book was released on 2005-07-07 with total page 157 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In God and Elizabeth Bishop Cheryl Walker takes the bold step of looking at the work of Elizabeth Bishop as though it might have something fresh to say about religion and poetry. Going wholly against the tide of recent academic practice, especially as applied to Bishop, she delights in presenting herself as an engaged Christian who nevertheless believes that a skeptical modern poet might feed our spiritual hungers. This is a book that reminds us of the rich tradition of religious poetry written in English, at the same time taking delicious detours into realms of humour, social responsibility, and mysticism.
