Book A Manual of Photography

Download or read book A Manual of Photography written by George Dawson and published by Forgotten Books. This book was released on 2017-11-23 with total page 310 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Excerpt from A Manual of Photography: Founded on Hardwich's Photographic Chemistry Ir will be necessary to make a few remarks by way of Preface to this edition of Mr. Hardwich's treatise on Photography. The short compendium of general Chemistry has been omitted, because this Science can be better studied from the more comprehensive works on that subject which now abound. Indeed, a know ledge of Chemistry is not essential to the practical Photographer, for it is only on very exceptional occasions that he will be called on to prepare any of his own Chemicals. At the same time it is deemed desirable to give a Vocabulary, mentioning the nature and properties of the various substances used in Photo graphy, except when these are described in the body of the work. Book The Chemistry of Photography

Download or read book The Chemistry of Photography written by David Rogers and published by Royal Society of Chemistry. This book was released on 2007 with total page 244 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Carried in wallets and displayed in homes, photographs are a common, but often an overlooked feature of modern life. And, with the advent of digital technology many believe that the so called 'wet chemistry' behind old fashioned photography is a thing of the past - but is it? The Chemistry of Photography endeavours to unravel the mysteries of picture taking and reflects on the diversity and complexity of the science. It gives readers an insight into the chemistry needed to generate pictures, spanning all mediums including still and motion picture as well as digital imaging. Beginning with the components of conventional photography such as films and papers, the book also looks at light capture and amplification, negative films, processing solutions, colour transparencies, the chemistry of colour and motion picture films. The book concludes with a discussion of digital technology and new innovations in photography. This fascinating book will appeal to scientists and those with a general interest in both the new and the old science behind photography.

This book was released on 2015-07-07 with total page 312 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Excerpt from Photography a Treatise on the Chemical Changes Produced by Solar Radiation, and the Production of Pictures From Nature In a country where the Heliographic Science is exerting such powerful influence as it is now creating in America, it is highly desirable that the means for pushing investigation should be within the reach of every ambitious mind. The world is indebted to our country for the most eminently successful Daguerreotypes, and we should be also foremost in our exertions to develop new truths, and diffuse the result of our experience and research; at the same time we should employ to the best advantage the experience of others. In doing so, I have taken advantage of the present opportunity to present to the American public one of the most valuable productions from the pen of one of England's most gifted philosophers. To comment upon this work would not add in the least to its importance, while by placing it within the hands of every Daguerreian, each can glean from its pages such information as to enable him to form his own conclusion. America presents the means of furnishing constantly such information as may tend to the elevation of this beautiful art. As one I will mention the Daguerreian Journal, which makes its semi-monthly appearance, bearing with it the latest developments or improvements. This is the oldest publication of the kind in the world. Since the author's preface was written, proof of another improvement has presented itself. This is the Heliochrome, a process of producing the colours of nature, discovered by M. Niepce de St. Victor, a Frenchman. Mr. Hill, of the State of New York, still lays claim to a similar discovery. Book Chemistry for Photographers

Download or read book Chemistry for Photographers written by Charles F. Townsend and published by Forgotten Books. This book was released on 2015-06-25 with total page 180 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Excerpt from Chemistry for Photographers The first essentials to anyone studying chemistry are accuracy and cleanliness. Most of the surprising results obtained by students in their early days are due to want of cleanliness. Another point I should like to impress upon those just taking up the subject is that learning "facts" in a more or less mechanical way is not learning chemistry. It is said that a good lawyer does not know much law, but knows where to find his law. The same applies to a good chemist. Above all, endeavour to get an insight into the nature of things, and remember that the proper place for a dictionary is not inside a man's head, but on a shelf.
