Through the courtesy of The New York Historical Society, a reproduction of a daguerreotype of Washington Irving taken by Plumb between the years 1843 and 1849 and presented by him to the mother of our present president forms one of the illustrations, and an interesting find of a lost page of Doctor Francis' address on Irving is reproduced.
