Book Spectral and Chemical Characterization of Organic Compounds

Download or read book Spectral and Chemical Characterization of Organic Compounds written by W. J. Criddle and published by Wiley. This book was released on 1991-01-08 with total page 132 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book brings together information the student is likely to need in the laboratory for characterization of organic compounds--their principal chemical reactions and their spectral properties. For the third edition of this popular laboratory student text the authors have included the theoretical basis of the chemical tests which are described and have also expanded the sections on spectroscopy. In particular the layout of the tables--both chemical and spectroscopic--has been improved. The melting point tables have been revised in the light of current availability of organic compounds. A basic knowledge of the theoretical principles of spectroscopy is assumed. Systematic names are used throughout though where the older trivial names are still in common use these are given in addition. The book also includes a section on the characterization of pharmaceutical compounds for students of pharmacy. Contents: Preface to First Edition; Preface to Second Edition, Preface to Third Edition; Safety in the Laboratory; Preliminary Tests, Chemical and Spectroscopic Characterization of Functional Groups; Chromatographic Methods; The Separation of Organic Mixtures; Preparation of Derivatives: Tables of Organic Compounds and their Derivatives; Pharmaceutical Compounds; Index.

Book Comprehensive Organometallic Analysis

Download or read book Comprehensive Organometallic Analysis written by T.R. Crompton and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2012-12-06 with total page 907 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: It is now some sixteen years since the author's first series of books on the analysis of organometallic compounds. Many developments in the subject have occurred since that time and a new book on the subject is now overdue. The present book aims to provide a comprehensive review of the subject. It covers not only all aspects of the analysis of organometallic compounds but also contains two additional chapters, dealing with environmental analysis and the use of chelates of metals in the determination of very low concentrations of organic metals. Whilst reviewing the literature for the present book, it was observed that whereas papers published prior to 1973 dealt almost exclusively with various forms of analysis, a high proportion of those published during the past ten years were concerned with the application of proven or newly developed methods to the determination of organometallic compounds in environmental samples such as water, air, soil, river and ocean sediments, fish life and biota samples. An increasing range of elements including mercury, lead, arsenic, tin, antimony, selenium and manganese are now being found in organically bound forms in the environment, some resulting from pollution, others formed in nature by bacterial processes. As many of these substances have appreciable implications to human and animal health and the ecosystem as a whole, it was considered that it would be timely to include a separate chapter in the book devoted entirely to this subject.

Book Spectroscopic Properties of Inorganic and Organometallic Compounds

Download or read book Spectroscopic Properties of Inorganic and Organometallic Compounds written by Richard Douthwaite and published by Royal Society of Chemistry. This book was released on 2014-06-27 with total page 299 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This series provides an unequalled source of information on an area of chemistry that continues to grow in importance. Divided into sections mainly according to the particular spectroscopic technique used, coverage in each volume includes: NMR (with reference to stereochemistry, dynamic systems, paramagnetic complexes, solid state NMR and Groups 13-18); nuclear quadrupole resonance spectroscopy; vibrational spectroscopy of main group and transition element compounds and coordinated ligands; and electron diffraction. Reflecting the growing volume of published work in the field, researchers will find this an invaluable source of information on current methods and applications.
